For Budget cases these are absolutely perfect. Yes pelicans are great but you're going to spend a hell of a lot more and they're not that great in my opinion. Not everyone needs completely submergible etc etc but these Apache cases claim to be able to be submerged as well anyway. Another case that is reasonably priced I have found is simply called "case club" and I bought one on Amazon that holds five guns and like 16 mags and it's amazing. Probably one of the nicest cases in the budget market that I've ever bought and I bought another one just the other day for accessories and miscellaneous parts etc..
Damn, I wish I had known about the Case Clubs before I bought the Apache. The Apache cases are very nice, but the foam isn't the best. It's ok after you flex seal or plasti dip it, but that gets expensive. I spent an extra $30 on paint and glue. The Case Club cases come with nice closed cell laser cut foam for $59 to $79 depending on size. The foam by itself costs more than that other places. I'm about to order a case club for vertical 4 gun storage for range trips and use the apaches for lay flat presentation style storage.
Yeah and you can even buy foam separately for like when you need a replacement. And the way they're designed you have a couple options of how to pull out the one main compartment that would hold like your earpro, multi-tools and things like that. Mine could either hold another gun or I could leave it as is force larger but not super large things so that side pocket I left as is and I just put miscellaneous parts and my ear cans and things like that in it but I got the five gun case and it works perfect. I'm really happy with it. Yes Pelican or nice and all that we all know that, but they're all so a lot more expensive in most cases and in most cases we don't all need Pelican quality just the door guns in the car and go to the range for a few hours. If I'm traveling all over with my guns and I'm in the service or something that's an entirely different issue. But yeah those cases are great. Even the Apache stuff is pretty good and this case club makes Apache inserts even pre-cut so you don't have to screw with the pick and pull which sometimes is a pain in the ass.

The apache cases are good value. If I had $3000 worth of guns to put in it though, I'd fork over the extra $30 for a Pelican vault case.

The pelican cases are over 3 times more expensive. $39 vs $139 and I need three of them.

The medium pistol case is almost the same size as the apache 3800 and is $80 at full retail

You are right. I guess the vault line is cheaper than the other pelicans I was looking at. They look nice. May have to try one out.
