Yammer

Does anyone actually use this? I know they're now calling it 'Viva Engage'..
I feel like it's targeted at really really big companies. Honestly I can't imagine it getting much engagement for anything in any org with under 500 people.
Anyone with opposing thoughts? How is this useful?

“Migrate this actually useful info off of Yammer.”

We had a few high level managers absolutely obsessed with Yammer. They spent inordinate amounts of time trying to get everyone else to spend as much time on Yammer as possible.
They are now seeking excellence elsewhere and no one pays any attention to Yammer anymore.

Pay no attention to the old ugly thing.
Look at this new super shiny thing!

Worked in Education sector in a previous life 10 yeas ago. It was insanely popular with staff across the State. Allowed them to connect and share resources with each other. If a teacher out at WoopWoop where they’re far from any resources, and were planning on doing a module on something, they could reach out across the Yammerverse to see if anyone else had already done something similar.
Outside of education, I’ve not encountered a use case for it.

For us it's mostly a pet photo sharing method.
Worth it? Honestly, probably, my coworkers have hilarious pets!

We use it extensively. Users can create communities and chat about whatever.
Lots of application user groups etc where they help answer questions on "how to" stuff rather than opening tickets.

I like that a lot. More cross pollination of answers, less bothering support.

If you don't have an intranet in any capacity it can be pretty slick supplementing SharePoint. I wanted to play around with it more before we ended up using something else to replace ours. Ours is a similar social media clone kind of thing. Helps employee engagement at least somewhat.

It’s pretty much as useful as a water cooler conversation, with everyone working remote, this is the next best thing to a water cooler convo.

I have a rule in my outlook client.
Anything from yammer or viva engage gets deleted.

This is less of an IT question and more of a communications/marketing thing. You’re not wrong that a small company won’t get much out of it. We use it, but we’re big enough to have an internal comms team. They mostly use it as a couple of different news feeds that are then integrated into our intranet which is sharepoint. It is a good news feed component that has likes/replies/comments that is fully native to everyone’s identity when the are logged in
