I am one of the many Erin Grey enjoyers.
And there was some other shit that happened on that show, right? A dude from the past or something?
musicjunkee1911@reddit
Hell yeah! Some of my earliest memories are this and Battlestar Galactica!
Kazzlin@reddit
I still remember the episode where Buster Crabbe was a guest star. I thought that was cool.
BillyBainesInc@reddit
Erin Grey and puberty…. Like chocolate and peanut butter
Ceorl_Lounge@reddit
She awoke something in me, that's for sure.
srgh207@reddit
"Why do you have to spend 20 minutes in the bathroom right after the show?"
RandyRVA@reddit
"What are you doing in there?!"
pagit@reddit
Her outfit had more curves than my Hot Wheels track!
IFeartheWiggles@reddit
Agreed, but the writers did Erin dirty after season 1. Went from fierce fighter pilot to meek damsel needing to be rescued.

Or, Princess Ardalla (Pamela Hensley)

I met her several years ago at a convention and she’s still awesome. Gill wasn’t looking too hot though.

Erin was HOT, but the princess!!! 8 year old me thought Buck was crazy for not going there.

When I was a kid, my two favorite shows were Buck Rogers and the original Battlestar Galactica.
Revisiting them both years later, neither had aged well but geez, Buck Rogers was so much worse. It made BSG look like Masterpiece Theater.
Soulshiner402@reddit
The remake of BG is incredible. I wish they would the same for BR.
windmill-tilting@reddit
Maybe? Don't know if it's still happening https://www.imdb.com/news/ni63175752/
JJQuantum@reddit
Apparently they had to go through some legal issues but are good now and moving forward. Isn’t Clooney a little old for that role though?
Soulshiner402@reddit
I wonder. That article says it is dated 2021 and Clooney has aged a bit in the past few years.
notguiltybrewing@reddit
It's one of those properties that someone will remake one day. It's not like the 70's version was anywhere near the first version.
Quasigriz_@reddit
We went to Universal, in California, back in the early 80s and my favorite part was the BSG section of the tour/ride, and the Cylons walking around.
DerpsV@reddit
OMG, I had totally forgotten about that! That was awesome! At least, it was awesome to that me.
SausageSmuggler21@reddit
Our 4th TV station showed Little House at 5pm and either BSG or Buck Rogers at 6pm Monday through Friday. I loved those shows so fricking much! Now a days, I can't even make it through an episode if I try to relive that nostalgia. Haha.
danby999@reddit
That's what makes the original Star Wars so deserving of it's iconic place. It has aged remarkably well. So much so that series like Andor or the Rogue One movie that copied the esthetic are more endeared than others.
l0st1nP4r4d1ce@reddit (OP)
They did like their disco themes. And the outfits. Like who has time for all that.
teachthisdognewtrick@reddit
I tried to rewatch recently. Just too cheesy to sit through. Back in the day though…
FrostnJack@reddit
I remember being disappointed that the show wasn't like any of the books.
OTOH: Erin Grey... holee yeah... Right there with Jane Seymour, Laurette Spang, & Maren Jensen from original BSG. Halcyon days to hit adolescence.
Feoygordo@reddit
Loved that show.
GiraffeThwockmorton@reddit
Was browsing an electronics store and they had Buck Rogers wired to a wall of TV displays. It was an episode with Erin Grey vs a tribe of telekinetic pervert dwarf aliens.
Late 70's / early 80s were freakin' wild.

I remember the huge WTF it caused at the lunch table when Seas2 came out. "what happened to Buck Rogers?... The Searcher episodes suck...yeah, the old guy is lame....the Hawk guy is cool, I guess, but the new seas is still stupid".
Andovars_Ghost@reddit
Found a mint condition Thunderfighter model kit and had it made by a pro for me:
Mjhandy@reddit
Saw the 'movie' in the theater. Best open credits ever!
No-Collection-2485@reddit
The first season, for sure. That Searcher shit just confused me but Hawk was cool.
Juan-Quixote@reddit
Erin Grey is the absolute reason I quit Boy Scouts. Buck Rogers was on Thursday Nights, same as the troop meeting. I have no regrets.
Financial_Mountain38@reddit
Big Wilma Deering fan, yes! Hawk though, not so much... so dumb.
suddenlynotbanned@reddit
I thought Hawk was SO cool. Oh, to be young again...
MyriVerse2@reddit
Hawk was awesome, but the stories of that season were horrible.
Financial_Mountain38@reddit
Yeah, my story like that is that I thought Dr Smith from Lost in Space would be cool to go on adventures with. Not smart on my part.
hoppertn@reddit
Wonder if he was the inspiration for Birdman on Rick & Morty. I know plenty of other stoic hawk/man combos in comics.
MyriVerse2@reddit
First season, yes.
LassieDear@reddit
My ringtone (not that it ever plays anymore) is the Buck Roger’s theme

With his buck and a quarter quarter staff.
GaryNOVA@reddit
Any show with the balls to create a seemingly human character named “Hawk” and give him feathers instead of hair. They have my respect.
Disastrous_Heron4558@reddit
My Dad nicknamed me Bucky Rogers when I was a little guy when it came out on TV. I was 5. And I loved it. Just as much as Star Wars.
I'm 51. And I shit you not, He STILL calls me Buck or Buck Rogers to this day. If I call him, he says, "Hey Buck!"
Or whenever I walk into my parents' house for a visit he says, "Hey Buck Rogers!"
It used to bother me for some reason when I was younger but now I actually like it.
Relevant_Fuel_9905@reddit
Hell yes!
I was a big fan of the robot.
handsomeape95@reddit
Dammit. For a second I thought you wrote "reboot" and got excited.

They both did (or do) cons...I have an original poster (the much cooler and rarer version) https://ca.originalfilmart.com/products/buck-rogers-1980?srsltid=AfmBOooQyfhbDMzfCWu8VrdtgZQajY86RwmI3Czky2jc8LXafB-Iyxru&shpxid=afd30a83-0b30-4294-932f-abaf6122b55b signed by both of them.
Gil was nice...Erin Grey was having a bad day and was surly and mean :( (Gil who I met after apologized on her behalf)

I'm sorry but I could not get over Twiki's...uhhhh...."helmet".
Still maked me giggle.
Corrie7686@reddit
I have the Buck Rogers DVD box set. There was a 5 min long intro on the pilot, it was a black room with a white glowing buck Rogers logo on the floor with a tight clothed disco style woman rolling around on the floor whilst an extended theme tune played. I'd completely forgotten about it as it isn't on any of the follow up episodes and is dropped when it's shown on TV. As an adult now, it seems VERY inappropriate. So 70s!

Turkzillas_gobble@reddit
I watched through it a year or two ago. It had a pretty promising setup (a "utopian" Earth run by AI's isn't utopian enough to do anything about the apocalyptic cities filled with psycho mutants) squandered with stupid 70's TV plot beats (the perfect AI's will call you a spy, sentence you to death, and then change their minds).
Loved Princess Ardala (always have) and generally liked the "space babe of the week" approach; when they dropped it in s2 they didn't really replace it with much. Twiki generally got on my nerves, but I remember liking him when I was a young child, so I guess he did his job.
Ok-Ad5108@reddit
Buck Rogers was campy cheesy late 70s fun and I enjoy it for what it is.
Ray_The_Engineer@reddit
Oh yeah, good stuff, loved that show. And good god, Erin Gray in her tight outfit, whew.
sleepysaurus7777@reddit
Gil Gerard was quite witty in it
BreezyBill@reddit
I saw Erin Grey at a comic convention back in the 90s and was amazed at how great she still looked. Nowadays I realize she was probably only in her early 40s and I hate myself for being surprised she “still looked good” at her age.

Erin Gray! The outfits got tighter and skimpier as the show progressed and Princess Ardala gave me a Twiki in my pants!

Loved it when I was a kid. I won't re-watch it now because I realize how bad it actually was. I would rather have the good memory.
