Your what from what program??
ratmanmedia@reddit
Springfield & SIG have sales programs to get gunshop employees to push their products more than the competition.
Other companies have them too, but SIG’s and Springfield’s (last I knew) were the highest value. My buddy was actively trying to dissuade people from both brands, and in a year was able to get an M1A and AXG from sheer volume.
Hamburger_Special@reddit
Explains why my local LGS was pushing me hard to get a Springfield
obiwan-destroyer@reddit (OP)
That’s kind of a shitty thing to do. I usually go with the flow and see what feels best in your hand. But I do know lots of guys in the industry that will push you to get certain brands because they want those points lol.
Fred_Chevry_Pro@reddit
Look I worked weekends $8/hr in the shop exclusively for free donuts, free gunsmithing, and Springfield rewards points, so if you asked me what MY preferences were, I'd show you a wide selection of Springfields. Damn I was really a paid shill now that I think about it 😂.
ViciousCycles19@reddit
Tbh thou Springfield makes some good stuff. My Echelon 4.5F comp is my favorite gun. I also love the Prodigy DS. Both have never failed me in thousands of rounds.
SalvoRosario@reddit
upsells like this is why I can't trust shops with reccomendations (on new products) you never know if they're being genuine or want to push you to whatever has the highest margin in their store :(
ratmanmedia@reddit
Wait until you hear how much YouTuber’s & Instagram influencers can make from a single post or video.
UrAverageGuy03@reddit
Bro you can’t be telling the internet this it makes us fun store employees look bad because now customers are going to think we’re just like any other salesman
MakersOnTheRocks@reddit
Wow, that’s a big reason to know exactly what you want before even entering a brick and mortar.
ratmanmedia@reddit
It’s like that for every business that has sales incentives.
That’s why so many people are driving Hyundai/Kia (because they believe the bullshit dealers say)
zechickenwing@reddit
Do they reward them with a Honda or something? Or are they pushing shit piles to be rewarded with a free shit pile?
ratmanmedia@reddit
The rewards on vehicles are massive pay incentives to the salesmen.
caterham09@reddit
For anyone who hasn't worked a similar retail job, a lot of companies will do stuff like this as incentive for the sales staff to push their products. I got several free watches this way
dgansen1@reddit
Owner of the small shop I worked for pushed these programs to get free inventory in for the store… I’m feeling ripped off
caterham09@reddit
Could report him. That's almost certainly against the terms and conditions of the program
CollieChase@reddit
Hell yeah honestly, most companies don’t give anything. I wanna see some gold platted Johnny’s for super sellers
ratmanmedia@reddit
Honestly with how sleazy your average salesman is at gunshops, I hate them.
I’ve listened as they straight up lie to individuals to get the points on the books. It also why I’ve all but stopped supporting local gun shops.
obiwan-destroyer@reddit (OP)
I work behind a gun counter and we have access to Springfield’s velocity reward program. In essence you sell Springfield guns, get points, redeem those points for rewards and have it shipped to your store. You pay nothing for the gun with the catch you have to pay the tax off for it during tax season. But it’s still a fantastic incentive program
caterham09@reddit
How much product did you have to move to get a free M1a?
Tricky-Swordfish4490@reddit
Guns are all either 1, 2 or 3 points depending on what it is. To redeem an M1A is usually 55-60 points. So 30-50 guns usually. Since all the popular handguns are 1 point
caterham09@reddit
Woof that's actually a lot worse than I expected.
Frederique constant used to give me about ~$200 in credit for every watch I sold and the watches averaged about $2000 in value.
ArmedWithBars@reddit
Worked in the mattress industry as sales before going corporate. We made 1.5%-3% vendor spiffs back then ontop of commission. Sell a $2k+ mattress and make 3% spiffs ontop of the commission rates.
Commission rates were 3% + base rate, which was a dollar or two over state minimum wage. Then you'd make 20% on any protector you sold with it (they range from $150-$200).
Good sales people were fucking raking in cash. I remember doing some holidays where I made well over 1k in commission/stims/add ons in a single day.
SouperSums@reddit
Woah. OP must be an awesome salesman.
ArmedWithBars@reddit
As a former sakes guy in curious, do you make commission on gun sales or is it just base rate hourly? If it's commission what are the percentages?
For example in the mattress industry the sales people would typically get base pay + %commission + %spiffs from whatever vendor they sold. Instead of a reward program like Springfield firearms, the mattress manufacturer would pay 1.5%-2% in spiffs (actual money) depending on the product price.

Damn so that’s why the guy behind the counter is always telling me to get the Hellcat lol
Fred_Chevry_Pro@reddit
That was probably me 😂🤙.
Twistthrottleemotion@reddit
I pick my M1A Scout Squad up tomorrow. This weekend is gonna be great.
obiwan-destroyer@reddit (OP)
Oh nice did you purchase it or get it through the spiff program?
Twistthrottleemotion@reddit
Believe it or not, won it in a raffle.
caterham09@reddit
Still one of the dumbest things on the washington state assault weapons ban was banning the M1A. We can buy mini 30s but not M1A's for no reason
Chicago1871@reddit
Its because nobody who knows anything about guns will help them write those laws.
M1As are legal in Chicago and Illinois but not ar’s.

It's no 9mm though. That stuff will blow your lungs out...
AdeptStranger1947@reddit
And don’t even get me started on 5.56 that stuff will leave holes bigger than a cannonball in bodies.
OtherwiseProject2818@reddit
Wish I could participate in this program but my employer does not allow us to participate in it as they don’t want us having a bias BTW I work for a major retailer

Cool... um... what is it?

This is the LOUDEST gun we own and we love it!
High_Anxiety_1984@reddit
Damn congratulations my friend. 22" barrel is presume?
semperfi_ny@reddit
I remember when Ruger did this around 2013-2015 timeframe. I sold enough Rugers that I qualified for a free Ruger Gunsite Scout in 308. My boss was very happy for me. Absolutely my favorite bolt action rifle I own.
skipperjohnn@reddit
I was on my way out of a part-time gig at that same time. Coworkers helped me get enough points for a 10/22. A free gun is a free gun!
semperfi_ny@reddit
Free guns are the best guns.

Those things are sweet. I shot one a few months ago. Easiest time I’ve ever had shooting at a distance with irons.

Nice! I opted for the M1A SOCOM CQB for 5 more points :) Gotta love free guns aye!
