What are people’s experiences with IDMobile?

Hello all!
I have seen an offer for 108GB of data on IDMobile for £9 per month, and I spend most of my time in Manchester.
I’m on VOXI at the moment; 140GB for £15 per month, and want to remain off-contracts due to me being a new father.
VOXI is just below average, and I want to find out people’s experiences with IDMobile; especially in Manchester?
Thoughts?

The service is ok but it’s a nightmare trying to communicate with them over live chat. Make sure you allow 45 minutes for the conversation, they deal with multiple queries at a time and in the two times I’ve done it they take about 3-4 minutes to respond to each sentence. Then they got it wrong. I took out a 1 month sim only deal and decided to cancel within my 14 day cooling off period and it was like pulling teeth trying to get it through to them what I wanted to do. They then told me it was cancelled and 2 weeks later I got an email saying my next months bill had been generated and another payment was due to come out if the bank I had to go through it all again and this time she promised it was cancelled properly and I will be fully refunded within 7 working days. Time will tell

Avoid them like the plague. I'm in hospital, when I had my heart attack I was getting 600+++mbit by the window and a lowly 400+ in bed.
This was a second SIM because I got conned in to an O2 volt package with Virgin Media and that was only getting 2mbit.
Fast forward to when O2 ended I switched to Smarty (3 network) and was getting 25-300 on them in hospital. The 25 was like 1 bar scenarios.
I moved to ID mobile recently and now I come to hospital and I get 2-3 bars but not signal, as soon as I visit a website it just sits doing nothing then I get a big X on my network and the page fails to load.
Contacted idmobile and literally the words most useless person was "helping" me spouting postcode is low signal, and asking me to do stuff the chatbot asked me to do already.
I asked for a week of my bill because I'm in hospital for over a week and I can't use my phone or data for the sole purpose I bought it for and she said no.
And then said if there's any accessible options for next time we chat. And I said yes sorry can I skip all the useless people like you and get through to someone who can actually help?
And she gave me a warning for calling her useless, which she absolutely was. I wrote this is such a clown fiesta, honestly.
She wrote warning 2?
So I said what was the problem, useless or clown?
And she ended the chat.
Useless woke Karen company.
Avoid iDMobile like the plague, I would rather go back to piss poor O2 because then at least you'll expect bad service.
They actually remind me of THREE early on, when they first came out I went on three and I remember they had to call India to activate my phone haha, how bad they were back in the day... That's iD.
Also no live help option in the app, the most useless dog app ever created.
I stand by my comments on this company, useless, clowns.

Avoid. Been with Vodafone for over a decade and took the punt with ID Mobile but reception is not very good, even in London. I've never had so many calls just lose reception and I'm rarely at 5 bars 5g. Will be moving back to one of the big boys when these 18 months is over

Avoid. .

I got a cheap deal on the new iPhone by switching to ID mobile from 02. However I have never experienced more problems/such awful customer service. I got this phone a month ago and only my network activated 2 days ago. Numerous calls and chat bots with people completely clueless.

which area do you live in?

Don't go with them. Atrocious customer service.
Illustrious-Set7506@reddit
I have just been put the phone down by them because I demanded an answer to if they can provide me with the service or not. I've signed up with them over a week ago but with no confirmation of anything as they supposed to be checking my details but when I called yesterday, they re-registed me saying I would get another call to confirm everything and I would get my SIM card today, now just before 2pm I again called them to see what's going on only to be told not to worry, they'll contact me? I need data to work and can't wait forever but as I said I need to know if they can or can't provide the service, they put the phone down. Now I really don't know what's happening... I've wasted a week with this without results and having to start anew with someone else? So frustrating...

I’m experiencing the same thing in Dorset - my contract started last Tuesday and I have no signal. The chatbot is terrible - times you out constantly. The “incident number” I was given by an online agent turned out to be completely unrelated to anything and I’ve been told they have 7 days to resolve my complaint. Effectively that’ll be 2 weeks with no signal. I’m looking up other contracts and will be terminating my contract with ID as is my right during the cooling off period. Wonder how much of a hash they’ll make of issuing my pac code? (Have to get another one through them as my original code from sky was used when I took out the ID contract and can’t be reused). I’ve spent upwards of 4 hours in the last 6 days trying to sort this.
ingridgafanhao@reddit
Fine as long as you don't need to use their customer service. It is way more stressful than what it needs to be.
Workin4ALivin@reddit
I’ve been IDM for a year now. Have another 12 months to go. Will leave once contract is completed. I know they use the Vodafone/3 network but it is very poor signal. Will return to GiffGaff once this is done.
Amanensia@reddit
They're fine, just another virtual network. I was with them a few years back but moved to Smarty as we got a really good family deal for four SIMs.
All the virtual networks use one of the "main" networks so the only thing to worry about is customer service - and how often is that an issue anyway. Just make sure you pick a virtual network that uses an actual network with the coverage you need. What don't you like about VOXI - is it just that it uses Vodafone?
AncientFootball1878@reddit (OP)
The issue I have with VOXI is; I have been with them since February- no issues, but over the last month, I’ve experienced very bad signal on the phone, very slow service/loss of coverage with data when I’m out.
Wide_Requirement_755@reddit
I had both smarty and Giffgaff for a month. Both unlimited data. Giffgaff was by far the superior. I don't know if that's just for my area or for the just unlimited smarty. But Giffgaff do have fair usage so when I used too much for a month they weren't happy. Now I have 2 Giffgaff Sims, 1 for each phone and I hotspot to TV loads so I don't need WiFi. Works out cheaper. And my TV is on a LOT streaming. So about 600 GB a month between the 2 is my usage.
RecentTwo544@reddit
This has come up before -
Basically Huawei used to provide a lot of phone network infrastructure in the UK, but they're now banned from doing business in the UK, so all the kit is being decommissioned... and replaced with subpar kit instead. So signal is plummeting for a lot of people in a lot of areas.
AncientFootball1878@reddit (OP)
Oh, this is a great piece of information. Thank you very much. Are there any mobile networks that you know that aren’t affected by this?
RecentTwo544@reddit
I think all the main carriers that actually operate masts (Vodafone, O2, Three, and EE) are affected as it's a general infrastructure issue, and the equipment is being replaced, then finally upgraded, on a rolling basis.
Amanensia@reddit
Odds are you'd get the same if you were on Vodafone then. ID Mobile use Three, I believe? Might be worth asking around if that's better in the area you will be. Don't rely on coverage maps - O2's coverage map promises me perfect signal indoors and out and in practice I could only get a signal hanging out of an upstairs window! Not that it matters that much to me as I'm always on WiFi but still, be careful...
Wide_Requirement_755@reddit
I got a monthly rolling contract with them. They set up DD. Big mistake. Recurring card payment means the customer has control.
They activated the SIM before sending it. So monthly plan was ticking down 4 days before I got the SIM. When I cancelled after 2 months, as Giffgaff were doing unlimited for £15 pm, id still took payment from cancelled DD.
I got it back from the bank.
id then got debt collectors chasing me for more than the cancelled plan and DD was.
They had renewed the plan despite me telling them I was cancelling and them telling me that's fine, destroy the SIM.Which I did.
So they knew I couldn't use, nor wanted the renewed cancelled plan.
So anyone that goes with them risks this.
Giffgaff and smarty just use recurring card payment that you can cancel and it will not be taken the following due date.
What id do is illegal but they don't care call centre staff aren't bothered. On trust pilot for id it's full of calls centre staff giving pat chat with no sincerity.
As long as they affect your credit score and sell debts onto debt collectors, that's all they care about.
ryzethakidd@reddit
I'm in manchester too and mine works perfectly fine. Granted only been with about 7 or 8 months, but I haven't had any issue.
ryzethakidd@reddit
Also I have that 108gb for 9 quid and it's sick as if it rolls over then each month you just have 216gb of data
Nosworthy@reddit
ID are fine. They piggyback off Three's network, so if you get good coverage with Three you'll be fine with ID. I don't where I live now but did previously and ID were fine (although I think they piggybacked off another network at the time?).
DaveL16@reddit
My business phone with ID for six years plus. Only ever issue was when old invoices weren’t available to download for a week or so. But with coverage itself and service, never a blip.
quenishi@reddit
ID Mobile are on Three, so if you have friends/family/coworkers/randoms at the pub on Three or another MVNO that uses Three, can ask for local experiences.
justfoodnotlove@reddit
Been with them for years and never had issues -inc a few years in Manchester.
Therapineer94@reddit
In London, 2 sim only contracts... no issues at all.
