If militaries are gonna use AI drones instead of real soldiers, we should put out some AI civilians for them to kill instead of real ones.

Build some AI schools and hospitals. General infrastructure that's just completely destructable so they can get all the victory points, high five their commanders, and just leave real people alone.
Gunbunnyulz@reddit
Honestly, I think we should bring back leaders dueling to determine victory.
StarChild413@reddit
willing to risk certain known-for-athletic-prowess foreign leaders taking over your country just so you can watch one you might hate die in a humiliating way?
Gunbunnyulz@reddit
Frankly, if our leadership spent more time at the gym and less time figuring out ways to squeeze more taxes out of us, I think everyone wins.
Fireproofspider@reddit
If you are being attacked, would you submit to the invader because they've destroyed your AI troops and resources?
Dedli@reddit (OP)
Crazy idea: Yes.
ApprehensiveVirus217@reddit
There’s a Star Trek episode about this. Spoiler: they didn’t.
Epyon214@reddit
Do you know which one
ApprehensiveVirus217@reddit
‘A Taste of Armageddon’
The Original Series 1.23
LazyLich@reddit
Just skip the irl bs all together and solve world conflicts with DOTA tournaments
StarChild413@reddit
wouldn't it either be more thematic to do so with Overwatch (because of the diverse sets of characters and idealistic future vision) or League Of Legends (because back when the lore was such that the matches existed within it that was their Watsonian purpose and why playable characters are called "champions" (they were champions of their faction or kingdom or what-have-you and fought each other instead of those groups/places engaging in full-on war))
LightModeIsTheBest@reddit
Idk if that league lore makes sense. Why would Annie the little 9 year old orphan girl be representing a faction? Ik bits of the summoner lore but the faction stuff sounds off.
PoisonPeddler@reddit
Of course. No point in being a sore loser.
YouCannotTheBox@reddit
If you thought they might proceed to the real ones.
Western_Weird_5419@reddit
its called crazy ideas not crazy good ideas
Fantastic_East4217@reddit
This was an episode of Star Trek TOS.
Zolty@reddit
Skip the whole war thing and just solve conflicts with Battlefield 6 competitions.

Sometimes they do something like this. They tell us that they are going to fire some rockets at the base and we get the people out of there. Then they destroy some empty building so they can save face.

Ninja_Wrangler@reddit
Logical conclusion is that star trek (I think) world where war is fought by computers, and if the computers determined that you die, then you report to the place to be painlessly annihilated (to give a real cost to the war)
StarChild413@reddit
except why would we need the cost as deterrent and real death if the war's only fought by computers
NotEncyclopedia@reddit
The wars should be fought in world of Warcraft, the winner is the winner in real life.
Under developed countries can fight in age of empires if needed.
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
But would any country honor a loss in that if it meant their sovereignty?
H4llifax@reddit
How about we just respect each other's borders and rights.
AlSi10Mg_Enjoyer@reddit
Great idea. Let’s all sit down and decide what those are!
Oh no
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
Ha, that's a whole other discussion. We're talking about ways to resolve disputes.
When it's something people are willing to fight and die for, no.arbitrary game will change that.
Dedli@reddit (OP)
Exactly, they should just die instead
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
We use violence specifically because our enemies fear death.
Dedli@reddit (OP)
Youre right, it's much better to let them kill you and your children over it.
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
You don't let them, you kill their children first so they don't.
Dedli@reddit (OP)
God Bless our neighbors childrens corpses
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
Better theirs than ours.
Dedli@reddit (OP)
Ah yes, the mindset of psychopaths.
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
Of people who like surviving.
Would you let somebody kill you to avoid killing them? That's called suicidal empathy.
Dedli@reddit (OP)
We're talking about kids and civilians
No amount of dead kids will make anything right
Sorry to burst your bubble
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
The above commenter is suggesting people submit to a loss of sovereignty and potentially being enslaved and executed because their leader lost in a video game.
No people will do that. They will fight for their lives and freedom. That's why wars exist. People don't fight wars over things they'd be willing to gamble on an arbitrary game.
If their kids are in danger of being killed, they'd rather kill yours than let that happen. It's a matter of self preservation.
Mutant_Llama1@reddit
You and me, rock paper scissors, right now, if I win I get all of your money and be my slave forever.
You willing to agree to that? No.
If I threaten to kill you unless you do that, I guarantee you'd be more generous.
That's why people get randomly mugged instead of getting randomly rock paper scissored.
Dedli@reddit (OP)
Crazy idea: Instead of mugging people on the street we should just rock paper scissors them
LazyLich@reddit
Good point... it'll be an opt in program, where for each member nation, 10 out of 11 of the most powerful figures must have an explosive collar on at all times. Not to mention sanctions and blah blah blah.

Listen it’s 2025.
Have all the world leaders jump on a server and play battlefield 6 over it.

Hairy_Cut9721@reddit
The trash talk through interpreters alone would be worth it
mrpenchant@reddit
Countries with no age minimum for the top job could conquer the world with this conflict resolution. Boomers would be an even bigger liability, unable to defend their country in battlefield 6.
Apprehensive_Dog1526@reddit
The e sports tournaments would get an instant boost in viewership if the tournament was for control of crimea
jnmtx@reddit
right so to the AI it is real but all the fighting takes place in a virtual world, a simulation like the Matrix.
Skipp_To_My_Lou@reddit
As was shown in the documentary Tron, and the slightly later documentary series Reboot.
NotEncyclopedia@reddit
So basically a game, like world of Warcraft.

You joke, but that's going to happen.
Server farms will be considered critical infrastructure.
One_Recover_673@reddit
You’ve just described a cyberattack technique
RegularBasicStranger@reddit
Those just sound like using decoys thus AI drones will be trained to ignore them.
Dedli@reddit (OP)
Oh. I guess youre right. Maybe we should use civilians for the decoys so they stop getting killed!
RegularBasicStranger@reddit
Probably if real people are used and the AI drone is ordered to kill everything that moves in that area, then the AI drone would recognise them as people and not just decoys so they would still be shot.
So it depends on what the AI drone is ordered to do and how much features needed to be matched before a threat is recognised.
shpongolian@reddit
fuck that AI is taking enough of our jobs, at least let us keep the ones that grant us the sweet mercy of vaporization
everythingisabattle@reddit
Send out the incels
OldChairmanMiao@reddit
If you AI civilians are the ones running your economy, food production, and healthcare - wouldn't that be the same thing in a total war?
Snikklez@reddit
And an AI terrorist cell hiding behind the AI civilians
Particular_Quiet_435@reddit
This was done during WWII with fake factories and airfields, and with real ones camouflaged
Excellent_Speech_901@reddit
That's being done in Ukraine today.
