Is that a 21in barrel on a .45?
jacgren@reddit
Probably .30-18 but I don't think the patent specified caliber
Brown_Colibri_705@reddit (OP)
From what I've gathered, neither is specified.

"Automatic rifle"? Isnt it an submachine gun? It looks as if it was intended to use Thompson mags.
Brown_Colibri_705@reddit (OP)
No, it's a self-loading rifle. No details about the magazine, but most likely fired a cartridge similar to .30 Pedersen.

I wonder if it was for a cartridge similar to (or became) the .45 Remington-Thompson... this would explain the hesitation lock and short carbine-length receiver.
ODA564@reddit
The action looks like it's similar to the Remington Model 8 (a John Browning design) with a detachable box magazine.
Brown_Colibri_705@reddit (OP)
It isn't. It's basically the hesitation lock of the Remington Model 51.

That's the highest praise one gun designer can give to another, try to dodge their patents!

John M. Browning had a lot of praise for Mr. Pedersen.
