I have a 19, it’s a great option for winter for me but I want something a little smaller in the summer. I use a Ruger Max 9 (version without thumb safety) in an IWB or a j frame in my pocket.
Just from what I’ve shot (Glock 43x, hellcat, shield, 365) I really do love my Glock 26. Got it after shooting all of those. Maybe it’s just a me thing but feels like a much more shootable gun especially since I just use 12 round mags.
It is slightly heavier and more than likely that fat grip fits your hand better and/or aligns your finger with the trigger better.
These are overlooked factors and what people mean when they say "if it feels good you'll shoot better."
I carry the 20/21 frames and they still don't "feel" as good smaller guns but I shoot them really well because I know where to place the web of my hand and my trigger finger, and the recoil is powderpuff compared to other plastic 45s.
One of my good friends is 6'5" and ONLY wants to carry micros and shoots wildly low left, but he shoots my G40 or any 2011 like an extension of his mind His natural tendency is to grip the huge grips better, better recoil control and trigger finger placement.
I understand the dynamics of “more surface area means more grip” but people don’t think the 26 is relevant when I find the new wave of micro 9s to be much more snappy. So when I see these responses makes me feel like it’s just me out there lol I prefer to shoot my airweight j frame over 365s even.
I carry a Glock 26 and yeah, it sucks how thick it is. I chose it because it's a little smaller than a 19 but can still take full size mags if needed. A 43x would be much more comfortable to carry
I have EDC'd the 41 with optic and light for YEARS and stepped up to the 21L since about April, and beyond spending real money on the belt, holster, suspenders, and having to dress up a little more, it's not a sacrifice even in summer.
You can EDC anything. Carry what you can hit with.

They have different grips and shoot differently. You should shoot both of them. One isn’t objectively better than the other.

Given that size category, a Beretta PX4 Storm Compact Carry 2. Optionally with a LTT optics cut and a LTT trigger job using the match hammer.

ah yes i was debating the storm/cheetah aswell…they’re both a bit more expensive but they feel so nice! i appreciate the suggestion!:)

In today’s market the Glock 26 is all but pointless with options like the Shield Plus existing.

More area and more weight, better fit to your hand. It adds up.
You do you, man. If it works then it works.

The Glock 26/27 was never a great choice. There's no reason it needs to be over an inch thick, it just is.

I dropped my 43x in favor of a p365x. I don't regret my decision.

I liked my 43x and p365x macro. The shields are also really good guns.
I carry a 23 now which is the same size as a 19 basically.

I would go 43x or 19. But 19 is best for all around.
