Was this a prototype in the sense that it was used for R&D of different calibers/barrel lengths, or were they actually looking into making a version with a swappable barrel? I could see the utility of having such a gun around in the R&D lab to test different cartridges and barrel lengths and their performance. Man it looks sexy though...

I assume the ones the C96 already had available, maybe different per caliber? They did make them in 9mm luger and 9mm mauser express, maybe they could've had one fairly which barrel work on both. Similar with varteidges like 7.63 mauser and stuff

A good thing that every C96 cartridges (7.62x21, x25, 9x19, x25) share the same base (9.95mm if I recall)
