Best seat accessory for a long travel?

At the fine age of 68, it pains me, literally, to travel more than 2 hrs at a time. With family 8 to 15 hours away, visiting is a real pita! I do break the trip into 5-6 hrs at a time and stop at a hotel at that time. Is there a seat cushion available that will male the trip more bearable?

Take a look at a purple seat cushion (that’s the name) on Amazon. I got the “royal” version for my dad who has sciatica and has issues on long trips in his rv and it helps somewhat. Maybe the full version is better for an SUV. More important is to remember to stop every 45 minutes or so to stand up even if your back/butt isn’t hurting that much! Good luck in your search!

Would a heated seat pad help your back? They sell those which plug into your 12 V outlet

Thank you for your reply. I certainly appreciate your input. However, my back isn't the problem ( car has heated and cooled seats). I think its a lack of padding in seat area(ass). Like many folks i have that Noassatall affliction, lol

I have a gel seat mat for that purpose. They sell them for truckers. It works great for me.

Thanks, I'll start looking at them!

My back isn't the problem. And the car has heated and cooled seats. I just have that affliction (Noassatall) that burdens my folks of my age range. Just seeking recommendations for a good/better/best cushion for long distance travel.

Is it the seat or is it the car?

Honestly I'd say its a combination of both. The car is nice for local.and short trips. While i dont think its ideal for long trips, ive got to make the best of what ive got

Search for a local auto upholstery and talk with them to see if they can make a custom solution for you. My dad, a 66 years young that travels for work 5-6 hours at a time multiple days had his seat remade with memory foam and specially shaped for his body, which is on the wide side. Be aware of your position, laying back a bit might make it more comfortable on the back.

Excellent idea! However, my car is fairly new, 2024, so I'm not inclined to have the seats redone plus the fact that these trips will likely be, at most, twice per year. More of once per year

What's the car? Not all seats are created equal. There are new cars that have both shit and amazing seats. If they're causing you discomfort in 2 hours then something is wrong.

It's a Hyundai Palisade. The seats are normally very comfortable. I think the problem is the lack of physical built in cushioning in the seat area. Had it when I was younger, but my gluteus maximus like my younger days, have went by the way.

The trucker sub swears by the purple seat cushion. I have never looked into it.
