Linux distro for gaming

Hello everyone!
I am really disgusted by all this situation with Win10's EOL and I can't upgrade to Win11 (and I dont like it anyway). I use my PC most for gaming.
Here is my setup:
Xeon 1350 v2
AMD RX 6600XT 8GB
16GB RAM
Monitor LG Ultragear 165hz
I already used Ubuntu and Mint but for working and studying. I never played games on Linux.
I play mostly single player games like Hollow Knight, Assassins Creed, RDR2, Resident Evil, and sometimes I play PEAK or Forza Horizon 4. I also plan to play Bloodborne and Zelda BOTW with emulators.
I just wanna know if theres a distro good for gaming. I dont wanna to configure a lot of things to make my games run. I already stressed a lot with GPU drivers in Windows, and I absolutely hated it because these problems drained my desire to play a lot of times. I dont want to deal with this kind of thing regurlaly again.
If you need further information let me know! And sorry for my bad english. Cheers ✨

For an AMD GPU anything will work because the drivers are built into the system.
I run Fedora I like it, I get updates quick without it being a pain. It is a distro that has been around for decades, and had a ton of enterprise backing.

If you just want to play games without worrying about much, go with Mint. You can always argue about kernel tuning and custom drivers and this and that, but all those distros are very niche. The absolute best “install and leave it alone” would be Mint
Alatain@reddit
I will second this, especially given OP's hardware. Should be able to game fine on mint for the games listed (though I have no experience with emulators)

CachyOS is amazing fast.

Wow and looks really beautiful too, I will for sure take a look on it
insistent_reader@reddit
no hate, but if you dont have even the initiative to research a question that is answered every week, then you are gonna have a bad time on linux

I already searched on YouTube about the topic. I saw lot of people talking about Nobara, CachyOS and Fedora, but I was not sure if they were the best for my case.
Until now I just used Linux in VMs as servers or inside a domain, or just for studying. Gamewise I don't really know much, but I willing to know more about it
insistent_reader@reddit
theres nothing for ur case in specific, most distros come game ready and you have to have something extremely specific for u to find a distro for ur case.
with a normal gaming pc, you can install any distro and it will run any game flawlessly.

I was just worried because people dont mentioned if emulators run smoothly on linux, but I already saw a gameplay of Bloodborne and looks amazing
insistent_reader@reddit
again, (and with no hate), do your research. youtube videos are not enough. you can ask an AI even and it will give you good answers. also, most emulators run NATIVE on linux, meaning that the developers support it officially (and most probably they use linux themselves)

There are some Linux distros "optimized" for gaming, such as CachyOS and Bazzite. However, I think your current choices can't be disregarded.
I use openSUSE and gaming isn't a problem for me. You should go for a distro that is well documented and you are comfortable with, so, giving that most dependencies work, drivers aren't a issue, and software is setup properly (Steam, Wine, Proton, maybe Lutris and Bottles as well), you're golden.
Check ProtonDB and Are We Anti-Cheat Yet for specific games and tweaks!
And, if you want to go for a "gaming distro", check CachyOS, Bazzite, Nobara first. All of them are great choices!

Thank u so much! :)
I saw a lot of people here talking about CachyOS, it looks to be really good, and I will definitely search more about it, and Bazzite too.

CachyOS worked out of the box for me, maybe you should look into that.
i've also heard bazzite is specifically for gaming
MrHorrible2048@reddit
While I don't know about those specific games, I've been using CachyOS for months now with Steam based games and have had very few problems. I'm on the verge of deleting my Windows partition entirely as I haven't done anything in there in months. CachyOS pretty much worked almost right out of the box for gaming, you just need to install the gaming meta-package and you are pretty much set. There is a lot more flexibility there for tweaking settings if you want it, but it's not necessary most of the time.

Its sounds like a dream dont needing windows anymore. I just sticked to it until now for gaming and for college, but I pissed off that I cant upgrade do Win11 because my perfectly functioning PC doesnt have TPM 2.0.
I will look for CachyOS, really really thank u :)

In case you didn’t know, there’s actually an entire subreddit dedicated to this question (and related topics): r/linuxgaming

Oh thanks! I will take a look
Dear_Studio7016@reddit
I have seen recommended CachyOS and Nobara
