David Clark cups screw sheared off

Hey guys, my DC broke at the headband and cup junction.
Tried looking at diagrams for spare parts but they never say something about this screw.
Are they prone to breaking here, if so do you have any tip or solution please ?
Thanks

Well put a screw in it.

You expect a pilot to fix anything on their airplane?? Yeah right.
BrtFrkwr@reddit
You make your living operating an extremely complex machine. Putting in a simple screw and nut shouldn't tax your intellect too much.
miamigrape93@reddit
Installing a simple screw is peasant work, ma' lord.
Ouchies81@reddit
Yeah, head to your local hardware store and they should have an aisle with assorted nuts and bolts.
Just go get another.

This process will unfortunately require exchanging currency for goods and services, but that is the trade for living in a society.

You could perhaps wrap it in straw and/or shove a stick in it if you cannot get approved for a $0.10 loan.
There may be grants available at a public fountain, underneath a fast-food drive through window or underneath you or your friend's couch cushions.

Don’t forget the stc

I'm a cheapskate sorry ... that's nearly as bad as me being French.
Yuri909@reddit
Disgusting.
redditburner_5000@reddit
What did you do to it??!? That takes some effort.
Home Depot and a few bucks. You're back in business.

A rivet and 2 washers did the trick, thanks everyone.

I've never had an issue with my DC's and I've owned them over 30 years. That being said, DC has legendary service. I'm sure if you called them they'd send you new parts OR you could just spend $1 getting replacement parts at a hardware store.

Screw for DC headset: $0.09.
TSO’ed screw for DC headset: $78.32.
mustang__1@reddit
Mine have broken here a few times. I send them back to DC and they send them back to me with free shipping and service.
That said... I'm liking the suggestions here for just putting a fucking machine screw in it and call it day.
FlightDirectorFD@reddit (OP)
I’ll probably do that and try to see if it’s solid enough. Don’t want it to break while a student solos !
zporter92@reddit
Damn you slammed it that hard, huh?
FlightDirectorFD@reddit (OP)
Doctor appointement for spine correction was already booked before the prefight !
On a side note, that's the headset I loan to my students ! And as I knew it would happen, one of them "did not sit on the headset" ... I try to fix it reliably cause i donùt really have the finances to buy a new one for them.
zporter92@reddit
That is nice of you to actually supply them with a decent headset. Are you an independent instructor or with a school/club? Maybe they have an old crappy set they wouldn’t mind you taking a screw off of
FlightDirectorFD@reddit (OP)
Thanks, independent. They do have spare ones but they are held with tape already so it is way worse than mine right now.
colin_do@reddit
That chintzy rivet is the achilles heel of classic DC headsets. I just replace them with a small machine screw and a nylon locknut from the hardware store.
FlightDirectorFD@reddit (OP)
Thanks a lot, knew it was different type of "screw". Really appreciate your help !
The_Rad1x@reddit
If you need the headset asap, push the old one out with a flat head or screw driver. Might have to tap it with something or hammer in a flat head and twist to get it out. Then I’d go to Home Depot / Lowe’s / hardware store and find a small screw and nut that fits.
