240hz only showing on 1080p resolution

After upgrading to a new PC equipped with an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT, I started experiencing an issue with my ASUS XG27AQDMG 27" 1440p 240Hz OLED monitor. The display only goes up to 144Hz when set to its native 2560×1440 resolution, and whenever I try to switch it to 240Hz, the resolution automatically drops to 1920×1080. I’m using an original HDMI 2.1 cable connected directly to the GPU, yet the monitor doesn’t maintain 1440p at 240Hz as expected.

Hdmi 2.1 is limited to 120hz use DP connection.

Hdmi 2.1 says it handles 360hz in a official site i bought it from

Regardless of what it says connect it to DP and try it.
Even if the cable can support it doesnt mean your hdmi 2.1 port on your monitor can handle it.
Dp is almost always the better format anyway thats why monitors come with a DP cable.

well then its not an hdmi 2.1 cable. that would be able to do 1440p 240 hz

But on my old pc it worked perfectly fine with it
exterminuss@reddit
same cable?

Ye

oh interesting!
then just use a DP cable. that should do the trick

From googling, that monitor on does 1440p @ 240 on DP. HDMI only goes up to 144 on HDMI.

use displayport cable

On page 3-17 in the user manual, you need to use DP to reach 240Hz.

Use DisplayPort 1.4. HDMI 2.1 doesn’t support 1440p 240Hz.

Use displayport

From RTINGS' review on it, it needs to be connected via DP for 240Hz. HDMI only does 144Hz.
