specs:
16gb 3200mt/s ddr4 ram
ryzen 7 5800x cpu
amd 7800xt gpu
1tb nvme
650w psu
any reason i cant even get over 100 fps even on 1080p battlefield 6?? (everything on lowest possible settings and updated drivers)

CPU bottleneck. I have a 7800xt and a 7800x3d and I get 160 on high-ultra settings.
Optimal_Aspect547@reddit (OP)
most of the game the gpu is at 95% ish and the cpu goes from 40% to 60%
Venome456@reddit
are you running native or fsr?
xiPL4Y@reddit
Try to create a user.cfg in game dir with in it those lines:
Thread.ProcessorCount 8 Thread.MaxProcessorCount 8 Thread.MinFreeProcessorCount 0 Thread.JobThreadPriority 0 GstRender.Thread.MaxProcessorCount 16

its the tgpu thats at 95% and the cpu at 60%
xiPL4Y@reddit
What CPU cooler are you using? How are the temps? The CPU fix tutorial I posted earlier forces the game to use all CPU cores.
In the beta, with my 5800X / 9700 GRE / 32GB DDR4 setup, as far as I can remember, I got around 100–110 FPS on medium/custom settings.

CPU
RazeZa@reddit
No. I have 5700X3D with 6800 XT. I got 90+ on medium 1440p. Definitely not a CPU issue.
ProbablySkerrim@reddit
1440p is less CPU intensive than 1080
No-Actuator-6245@reddit
No it’s not, that is a total misunderstanding. 100fps at 1440p will be the same or slightly more cpu workload as 100fps at 1080p.
ProbablySkerrim@reddit
That makes sense. Had that wrong obviously. My fault!
RazeZa@reddit
I know. Just because 1440p is less CPU intensive does not mean the baseline CPU requirement just gone. The "less CPU intensive" is because the GPU producing less frames so the CPU doing less work.
Even if OP is CPU bottlenecked, he should still be able to reach 100+ on 1080p low. He should be able to reach more than my FPS which is

5800X3D with 5090 on 1080p native ultra getting 200 FPS. Same CPU, different GPU but obviously 5090 is producing more frames but if OP is CPU bottlenecked, why 5800X3D could get 200FPS with 5090?
Kittelsen@reddit
Not the same cpu, 5800x vs 5800x3D. HU just released their CPU benchmark as well though a few hours ago. https://youtu.be/nA72xZmUSzc?si=mznFyc0a_H14S9QU
RazeZa@reddit
My brain added an extra X3D to OP's CPU, probably because i use 5700X3D. There's some similarity there. I thought OP had an X3D. If that's the case then his performance is normal/expected.
Between Overkill, High and low preset, the performance difference is only a few FPS. Might as well go for the highest settings.
So if OP wants to have better FPS, a CPU upgrade is the way.

ProbablySkerrim@reddit
It would help if OP actually included some benchmarks instead of taking wild shots in the dark.

I am getting like 90-100 fps with a RTX 2070 + 9700k, he should be getting way more with this combo
A1ML0W@reddit
It is not a CPU bottleneck! Check your temperatures maybe you have a temperature throttling issue. I have 100fps on overkill settings with 6800xt and i5 12400f
Bmil@reddit
Not sure why you’re getting downvoted, thermal throttling is a real possibility, happened on my 2500k with BF4
lecovaz@reddit
I have a 5600x and a 4070 and getting bottlenecked bt CPU on 1440p medium. (Not that big of a bottleneck though, some drops to 80fps, but my avg is still higher than 100fps)
Bought a 7800x3d to see what is going to happen.
Difficult_Feed3999@reddit
You'll probably get a more stable 100 fps, but not huge gains. I have a 9800x3d paired with a 4070 (planning to upgrade to a 5070ti Super or a 5080 after the Supers drop) and play at 1440p. Bottleneck is definitely the GPU now and I've been getting 100-110 fps at 1440p on Ultra settings.
2morrow-is-new@reddit
I'm in a 5800x3d and 4070. I get about 90-100fps average on medium settings. Should I be getting more?
Rivnatzille@reddit
I have a Ryzen 7 5800 X paired with a RX 9070 XT and I'm getting usually 110+ FPS on Ultra at 3440x1440p with FSR Quality.
But, I did notice some FPS drops sometimes, specially when aiming down the sights (no idea why, it also happened with I lowered the graphics do High).
My CPU is always having 100% utilization, whilst the GPU is getting around 85% to 100%, so I'm certainly getting CPU bottlenecked.
Emblazoned1@reddit
Google the cfg file or cpu fix or whatever its called. Helps fix the cpu bottleneck issues in bf6. You drop a cfg file into the games directory and it alleviates issues with 100% utilization.
Rivnatzille@reddit
Thanks for the tip! I did a very quick test with it and my CPU usage went from being stuck at 100% all the way to 40-60%. I'll try it out better later today after work, but so far the CPU usage went down and performance is super fluid.
Emblazoned1@reddit
Everyone should use the file. It makes a massive difference. This game made my CPU stress quite a bit(9600x) until I added it. Went from 100% utilization to around 60-70% in heavy situations. Also did a slight undervolt and temps went from 78-80 to never going above 65-70 degrees. This game eats CPUs.
Big-Salamander-2158@reddit
Lowering the settings generally means putting more work on the cpu. so if it doesn’t do anything, your cpu is holding you back.
RazeZa@reddit
Check the cabling and driver. Make sure that you install the correct driver and the display cable is connected to your GPU.
