Talking about the cast iron the pan sits on and the aluminium bits the flame comes out off. Thanks

Do you mean gas hob? Took me a minute to figure that out!
I wash them.
Alternative-Emu2000@reddit
Not sure why, but my initial thought was "Is 'job bits' a euphemism for genitals?"
phatboi23@reddit
same thought... haha
Sea-Still5427@reddit
If it is, my advice stays the same.
Alternative-Emu2000@reddit
My advice would change slightly: I wouldn't put them back on the hob after cleaning.
Sea-Still5427@reddit
You'd need to let it cool first, obviously.

This actually makes the title make sense.
Even I need to clean my job bits I scrub them with a wire brush dipped in vinegar and lemon

Would you like to repost this?
Slowly.
And in English.
WtF are 'has job bits'?

All the removable parts I soak in the sink with washing up liquid then clean them like I would anything else. If there's stuff caked on might give a scrub with steel wool. Meanwhile I wash the surface of the hob and anything non removable with normal kitchen cleaner spray.
Then when it's try I put everything back on again.

I stick them in the dishwasher occasionally. People say it ruins them but mines years old and going strong.
Theratchetnclank@reddit
Dishwasher tablets are very corrosive and will oxidize and cause pitting on the aluminum. It will also cause rust on the cast iron.
It will take a while for it to be a problem but it will eventually cause the aluminum parts to become very brittle and they will break apart.
EarnestHolly@reddit
You say that, but it's been years, still good as new. 🤷♂️

I had some stainless steel pans and the handles were riveted on using aluminum rivets, they have all failed. Luckily the pans came with lifetime guarantees and were replaced with pans with stainless rivets
Theratchetnclank@reddit
Which is fine. You do whatever you want, but it's worth stating that it will eventually happen so probably isn't the best advice for everyone.

MY HAS JOB BITS?!
BillyJoeDubuluw@reddit
Do you mean the hobs?!
If you keep on top of them regularly enough then they only need soapy warm water…
If they’re taking a hammering between cleans then you’ll need something stronger.
Theratchetnclank@reddit
For the cast iron use a stainless steel scourer.
For the aluminum bits i don't really bother. The carbon will keep building up no matter how much you clean it and pretty much any cleaning product strong enough to remove it will eat away at the aluminium. I give them a clean with some washing up liquid but don't fret about trying to remove the carbon.
Alternative-Emu2000@reddit
I take them off the hob and wash them in a washing-up bowl with hot water and washing-up liquid. Then I let them dry, and put them back on the hob.
