Business hours based on the timezone with the most reddit users.
LetTheDarkOut@reddit
Make it open only during off hours
BloodSteyn@reddit
Who's business hours? What timezone?
Moist-Ointments@reddit
Yeah I'm 24/7 man
SimsAreShims@reddit (OP)
Timezone with the most reddit users, like the body text days.
Business hours according to Dolly Parton, 9-5.
Mite-o-Dan@reddit
Americans are the biggest users of Reddit and Eastern time zone has the most people so I guess that would be it.
But for this crazy idea, wouldn't it make more sense if those were the hours Reddit WASNT open?
SimsAreShims@reddit (OP)
No, because if reddit was closed during work hours, people might actually get shit done.
Mite-o-Dan@reddit
So your basis for this idea is so people DONT get shit done?
SimsAreShims@reddit (OP)
No, people will get shit done in their personal lives because they won't be scrolling reddit. It's just at the cost of potential loss of productivity at work.
Mite-o-Dan@reddit
Thats a personal problem. And if people were less productive at work, it would mean many would have to work longer hours to make up for it, and/or have to wait longer on others for literally every walk of life. Everything would be slower. Logistics. Maintenance. Email replies. Everything.
That added wait time would infringe on your personal time. So in the end, you wouldn't gain any more personal time...youd lose it.
SimsAreShims@reddit (OP)
I mean, if someones redditing affects their life to that extent, there are other, bigger problema that need to be addressed.
TheIronSoldier2@reddit
So nightshift workers are just fucked then?
DDell313@reddit
Wait....I could've been posting outside of business hours all this time? Why isn't this advertised?
dirtmother@reddit
Ah, a person of taste.
I, too, want exponentially more unemployed opinion posts.
Imajzineer@reddit
Or just regionally restrict it to business hours in each region - which has the same effect without restricting the potential size of the total user-base.
Not that I'm recommending either approach - technically, it's so-crazy-it-might-just-work / crazy-but-it-mght-just-work, but ... just ... why?
SimsAreShims@reddit (OP)
But then people might get around that using VPNs.
BlueHairedMeerkat@reddit
People who don't have a VPN > people not in the most populous timezone.

Gives me something to do at work without taking away from my at-home time
Imajzineer@reddit
Only if your work hours correspond with those hours though.
Ok-Squash8044@reddit
How about the entire internet - except 30 minutes of “flex” time in case of emergency.
SimsAreShims@reddit (OP)
Oh duck yeah, that's much better!

Which business?
7-11 is a business
747ER@reddit
Business hours are usually considered 09:00-17:00 in most parts of the world. It’s also called office hours. The people who work for Corporate 7-Eleven will be working with office hours, you can’t arrange a corporate meeting with them at midnight just because 7-Eleven stores are open then.
