This was my dads phone who died in 1994. Somehow it was saved in his things and I still have it.

A friend got one of these in the mid 90s. He was the first person I knew who had one. It was still the era of "only doctors and drug dealers have cell phones".
He had a super-low minute package. He didn't want anyone to call it so his minutes wouldn't burn up. I don't know why he even had it!

First one I had.

That's the compact version. My first phone was what OP shared, but my dad had the big case one where the phone hung on the side

As a sharp contrast to the OP. My dad never had a cell phone. He always said he answered enough phone calls when he was working.

My first cell phone

I worked at Radio Shack when those were popular. They were definitely a status symbol. Service was only $30 for 30 minutes per month. Such a bargain.
