a really weird question but what uk shops have a plastic bag that is primarily one colour?

hey there, i’m an art student and i’m required to find a house hold item (in this case a shopping bag) that is a blocked primary/secondary colour if possible.
any thoughts would be greatly appreciated 🫶
ok-potato21@reddit
Now that I think about it, most of them.
Personal favorite would be co-op, not necessarily for the color (it's green), but it has this slightly waxy finish that is much nicer to carry than most.
girl_aboutlondontown@reddit

Glittered_Fingers@reddit
Hey there Lxnuv! In case it's useful for you... The utterly adorable picture book 'Colin and Lee, Carrot and Pea' by Morag Hood uses collage of two block colour carrier bags (Sainsburys and ASDA) to tell a simple story about friendship:
PipBin@reddit
I love that book! I had no idea it used the two carrier bags. I read it all the time to my class who are too old for it really but they love it anyway.
Glittered_Fingers@reddit
It's a simple story with a very important message, isn't it? :) I heartily approve of it as a class read. I love her work... I am Bat is another winner!

I feel proper dodgy when they’ve got the black bags. Sort of like a drinking beer out of a paper bag feeling
pintsized_baepsae@reddit
Mine has the black-and-gold striped ones that are also popular with sex shops. 😂
CompetitiveAnxiety@reddit
Yep, I used to work in a sex shop and we did, indeed, use the black and gold striped bags.
thesockpuppetaccount@reddit
I always feel like I’m walking home carrying a massive dog turd whenever I get a black bag from the corner shop.
Most unappetising
WanderWomble@reddit
The first time I let my kiddos go to the corner shop and they came home with a black bag I genuinely thought they'd taken dog poo bags with them 😆
TrueMog@reddit
Can confirm. My local gives out purple shopping bags!

Co op bags are all green & Superdrug bags are all pink.
boojes@reddit
Co-op bags disintegrate, though. No good for an art project.
Disgruntled__Goat@reddit
They don’t disintegrate, they don’t even rot down in a compost heap like they’re supposed to.
boojes@reddit
The pile of green bits at the bottom of our bag-of-bags disagrees.
wildOldcheesecake@reddit
They’re way more durable than you’d expect though! I love how they stretch to fit the products but careful not to pack too many sharp things
ossifiedbird@reddit
But when they do burst, they burst like a balloon. I learnt the hard way what happens when you over pack a co-op bag.
Laazarini@reddit
The Superdrug ones are pretty hardcore tho
AdultADHDer@reddit
Coop bags for life are blue - may be an alternative option?

Sophiiebabes@reddit
Co-op bags are green (that annoying biodegradable plastic that dissolves when it gets wet)
AmazingPangolin9315@reddit
Wrong approach IMO, I would go straight to packaging suppliers. There used to be a shop on Commercial Road who supplied the market traders at Spitalsfield with plastic bags and other sundries, of course now gentrified out of the area. I think it was these guys: https://gardnersbags.com
Obviously other suppliers exist, such as https://www.polybags.co.uk/ and so on...
Lxnuv@reddit (OP)
this is basically the project and i left it last minute 😭

geejaytee@reddit
Waitrose have their green bags*, but they are quite sturdy, and expensive too (£1)
*Large text on it, so may not be suitable.
Lxnuv@reddit (OP)
i’ll definitely go have a look i was thinking about waitrose bags but it’s the material that i think may not suitable as such… as i was also thinking like the ‘bag for life’ bags but again idk about the material…. in addition to this in my mind i think the best material of bag could be a tescos bag for what im thinking of but i wouldnt be able to use one sadly so im trying to re-alter my plan
Oilfreeeggs@reddit
I went into a Waitrose recently and they’ve changed them . They are now white with a green stripe around the bottom

AshalaWolf_27@reddit
Pretty sure Co-op is green
Etheria_system@reddit
That’s confusing surely they should be blue to match their logo?
AshalaWolf_27@reddit
Used to be, and I'm pretty sure the bags for life still are. But generic carrier bags are green since they made them compostable

pancreaticallybroke@reddit
Iceland bags are all white with a relatively small logo on. I don't know about the smaller shops but if you have an Iceland warehouse near you, the bags they use are bigger. Its a proper carrier bag style but the plastic is thicker, its closer to a bag for life than a cheap carrier bag.
Outrageous_Shirt_737@reddit
