I’ve used Ideal Installs for a good chunk of LV work. Not Ethernet specifically, but speakers and such. Principles are the same if you’re going to set up your own switch in the closet.

If you haven't ordered internet yet, most field techs will offer the service if you ask.

I had a three connections installed a few years ago by calling up a few ads posted on Craiglist. Just search for cat6 install or cat5 install

Fax line ports ??? What year was your home built ? I cannot imagine a home with "fax" lines! Can you take pictures and post ?

s/he's talking about POTS lines.... regular phone lines..... which was extremely common in every room until about 2000-2005. There's a good chance these were run with at least cat 5 cable and may support a home network. Although, these days most just use wireless with wireless bridges where they need an ethernet port.
