The chemical storage tank (hopper) goes in front of the passenger compartment, behind the seat. I'm pretty sure all Airtruks had a passenger compartment... Well most of them at least
Actually completely the opposite. A friend of mine is a very experienced flying instructor who used to fly one of these. He told me it is one of the easiest aircraft to land well. He said you just trimmed it in descent at 70knots heading for your aiming point and then just fly it into the ground. Just before touchdown the lower wing would build an aircushion that arrested the sink rate and then the trailing link undercarriage soaked up the actual landing.
Easy as.

Wow never realized that some of these had a passenger compartment down below too…looks somewhat claustrophobic down there.

Probably optionally could have the passenger compartment in place of the chemical storage tank, I’d guess

You can fit about half a tribe of post-apocalyptic scavengers in there!

The poster child of WeirdWings.

I believe the reasoning was ease of chemical loading.
A truck could easily back up inbetween the 2 tails, to load the chemicals.
Still a very weird design indeed!

So it's the OG chemtrail plane!
Harpies_Bro@reddit
Is this the first cab over engine plane?

This would look equally at home in a Bond villain's lair or as a supermarket kiddie ride. Which is impressive in its own right.

It's like a ship from No Mans Sky

Just started playing after the Voyagers update came out. Can confirm.

Ha! I posted recently about this flying jalopy. Mostly how seeing it in Mad Max back when I was a kid was what started me wanting to learn to fly.
zalurker@reddit
I always thought it was just a prop, until I was buzzed by one at an airshow.

And then you realized you had been living in a movie this whole time!

I was wondering why this looked familiar.

The flying jalopy from Beyond the Thunderdome.

Last time it was posted, someone called it the 'Biblically-Correct Aircraft' and I can't not think that now.
Whenever it lands, the pilot should shout "Be not afraid!" from a loudspeaker.

Official aircraft of the apocalypse.

Well I had no idea this old girl could have a passenger cabin. TIL.
PM_ME_YER_MUDFLAPS@reddit
I love that little thing.
smb3d@reddit
That seems like it would be incredibly hard to land with that small of a wheelbase.

Delightfully weird but so functional.
