Rushed to buy it so no pics in store, but local pawn shop had this raw loaded mag on a shelf next to the floor rack of unsecured ARs

Was 20 a good price, 30 rounds of lake city 5.56 made this year judging from the headstamp. Definitely will come back to find more wacky stuff.
ej1030@reddit
Loaded mags next to ars out in the open, you must live in a very small town with no crime, that or the owner is an absolute dumbass
Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
We have a low population, but a lot of tourists come through. If you don't count the crackheads worst that's happened was a dude throwing his severed penis mid police chase back in 2021 but that was a neighboring city 30 minutes away.
ej1030@reddit

What the hell
Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
Yeah, usually it's pretty boring here, but sometimes a crackhead will spice things up.
VladStark@reddit
LMAO.... I like how the news story blasts his full name and then states, we can't confirm what happened to his penis because of HIPAA privacy laws. But we can confirm that he did cut it off and throw it out of his car!
That dude will never live this down. Whatever drugs he was on this is a good advertisement not to do them.
90bronco@reddit
Thank you I didn't want "severed dick police" in my search history.

"At some point during the chase, he ditched his own dick out of the window of his Honda Accord like a banana on a Mario Kart track." What an insane string of words r/brandnewsentence
HunterBravo1@reddit
Are you sure it wasn't a detachable penis ?

Article on it in my other comment, but yeah a dude just said fuck it and yoinked his shit off to throw at a cop.
Peacemkr45@reddit
I actually want to hear that radio dispatch call. "Yes, we are in pursui... WTF??? He just threw something at us. 'Dave, that looked like a blood dick. I think he just yoinked his dick off and threw it at us'." "dispatch to car 54. should we send EMS your way?". "Dispatch, car 54. Yea, EMS because a Social worker ain't gonna accomplish shit here."
GrenadeJuggler@reddit
I'm sorry, but "yoinked his shit off" fucking sent me.

I came for the mag full of ammo and stayed for the self-detached penis thrower. What a time to be alive!

The type of bro to throw his severed penis out the window at cops probably shouldn't be using it to begin with.

Forgot this with the post, but even though the rounds appear to be new, they look like someone was cycling them through their rifle. Half of them have indents and some are marked with a black marker.

Black marker usually means "don't shoot this!"
SquareHoleRoundPlug@reddit
Hope they’re not reloads
Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
None of the bullets have damage or are pushed in, so it should be safe, but I'll make sure to add it to my loose target ammo so it doesn't end up in something expensive.
Itchy_Argument_1055@reddit
Colt 30 round with Lake City ammo? You should go back and buy them all. Too bad not green tip.. nasty s$&t’ colt mags were the thing before “the Ban of 2000” keepers

Lake city ammo makes big bang!!
-SunsOutGunsOut-@reddit
The pawn shop had loaded magazines sitting next to unsecured AR15s?
Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
I shit you not, yes. Not even in a bag or anything, just sitting out in the open on a shelf. I saw it when I entered, and I love these Grey mags but thought it was a little pricey until I picked it up and it had some weight.
-SunsOutGunsOut-@reddit
That is fucking wild lol
KrustyTheKriminal@reddit
Surprisingly, not extremely uncommon in some smaller local gun stores.
There is quite a bit loose ammo at a gun store near me.
Spinzzz@reddit
But is it loaded in mags, next to the guns that accept same mags, both unsecured?
KrustyTheKriminal@reddit
Sometimes, all depends. One near me had a loaded mag recently along with some other loose ammo like an open ammo can sitting on the other side of the counter. At least this mag has a price tag on it, I assume the other one was for sale, but I never asked about it.
RickySlayer9@reddit
Loose ammo as in, boxed on the shelf? I feel that’s pretty common
KrustyTheKriminal@reddit
Nope, also just straight up open, like they had half a box and decided to sell the rest of it. Open ammo can of loose ammo, sometimes a loaded mag.
CommonerWolf20@reddit
It's the new self checkout lane.
joelfarris@reddit
Dark. But possible.
Why do store employees do stuff like this?
angry_snek@reddit
You need something to spice up your day sometimes.
Double_Minimum@reddit
The gun show I went to a guy had a box of loaded MPX mags, which is kind of wild cause there would certainly be mpx for sale. But you could buy any mag and load it there anyway I suppose.
Also, I am an idiot, cause even if I don’t trust the ammo in them, it was a $30 OG Sig mag, and I should have bought 4 more.

anonpasta666@reddit

squareroot4percenter@reddit
If it’s an Okay mag, $20 for the magazine alone isn’t unusual these days. Consider the ammo a bonus.
$20 for a recent production Center Industries colt mag and 30 rounds of unknown (but probably Winchester) 5.56 that have been previously cycled is more like okay with a lowercase o.
Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
From my understanding, Lake City is military grade munitions made by winchester, so does that mean it's ass? I've never bought any from them.
Styrak@reddit
The brass cases are LC. Anything else on those cartridges is a guess at best.
squareroot4percenter@reddit
It could be Winchester LC M193. People will give Winchester shit but I’ve found that their Lake City 5.56 seems to have been pretty solidly made. Superficially the primers, crimping, perhaps even the cannelure placement on the projectiles have been more consistent than the Magtech and Federal 55 gr FMJ I’ve seen recently.
It could also be a different manufacturer that’s simply loading their bullets in Lake City brass. Black Hills used to do this though I don’t think they do anymore. Some companies will reload bullets in used casings; this generally warrants caution and scrutiny.
BBQSauce61@reddit
Winchester is currently running the Army Lake City plant. Under Federal, it was great stuff for what it was, and the gold standard for bulk ammo. Winchester ammo has always been kind of meh at best, and it seems like Lake City produced ammo quality has slipped since W took over. Could be covid qc affecting everything still, the current stress on ammo production due to the fighting in Israel and Ukraine, and/or whatever cost saving measures W implemented in order to get the contract from Federal in the 1st place.
At least being 2025 dated, its less likely to be reloads. Though I don't know if its worth the risk...
A_Queer_Owl@reddit
military grade ain't the cleanest or nicest ammo, but it should be quite reliable. army don't give a shit if it looks nice or runs clean, but they do demand reliability. cause a lot of lives might depend on that bullet.
Impossible_Wait_8326@reddit
Always loved O-Kay mags since as long as I can remember and I been buying metal mags for about 40 years. Hard to find any now tho.
Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
Pretty sure it's Lake City, says lc on the headstamp and a circle with a cross is their symbol for 5.56. I've never bought any ammo from them, so I don't know much about them besides the headstamp info.

Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
I buy most of my ammo online and never bought any at the pawn shops around here unless they had something rare because most of the boxed ammo has been used like some form of currency passed through generation being held together by tape and looking like it was stored in somebody's asshole.
OldCarry4838@reddit
Lol. Pawn shops really are METRO irl. They even use bullets as currency.

At gunshows I am seeing Colt 30rnd mags for $15-20 so you got your money right there and free ammo

Aggravating_Ad_7472@reddit (OP)
It's just a brand I'm familiar with. Never bought anything new from them directly, and most I buy that's colt is old, so I'm lining the pockets of local businesses, not the company.
