As a Werner guy myself, I can’t attest to what the otr drivers make since I’m on the dollar accounts. I’m getting about 1200-1400/week with benefits and company match. It’s a great gig, just don’t increase your expenses when you make the switch.

I offered drivers $30/hr for a home daily dryvan gig. Drop and hook both ends. 400 mile/day or 550 mile/day option, but no one wanted it..

You’re leaving something out. Most likely you don’t offer insurance or you expect drivers to work 7 days a week. Or like the other guy said, it’s 1099. I would take that no problem if it was 5 days a week with a decent insurance plan that wasn’t overpriced.

Knight or Swift honestly. I've heard all of it from every other beginner. Decent pay, with Swift I've had most of my truck needs met with them paying for it (even got them to cover a tire inflator that connects to the glad hands 030). The only things that I've had issues with is covering parking and washes. And that's just depending on who's in the office. That and a new radio. (Seen as non-essential and a distraction.) Eh, looks like I'll be taking my radio with me to my next truck. Saves me the headache of pairing again.

Pretty sure every company that has leasing has "horror" stories. Companies have no reason to set you up for failure, and from what I've heard from other prime drivers.

The ONLY people that fail at this are the guys that get into a WEEKLY truck payment, go home without saving any money to cover the truck payment then end up owing $1.5k after staying home for a week.

Ive been solo for a year now, still doing perfectly fine. Prime drivers get some of the BIGGEST fuel discounts, plenty of terminals that do all the truck repair you would need. All the "horror" stories are nothing but BS from drivers that can't manage their money or they constantly argue with dispatch

Hostler here, CR England just took over the delivery account for Kroger in Colorado and the amount of "drivers" coming through this yard is unreal, I see alot of contractors coming in to deliver the loads they can't cover, wait until winter and these drivers are are being paid crap to deal with Denver traffic let alone running the mountains in the dead of winter!!! Be careful if your passing through around these drivers
