Dude, do it. They're really good! Probably the best fried chicken chain in America. I'd say of all the times I had fried chicken in LA, only Howlin' Ray's was better, and that's a whole other thing.

My favorite story involving this item:
Roughly around 2000, I'm in the drivethrough, and order a cherry pie with my meal. The girl taking my order cheerily asks if I'd like two, because they're 2 for $1. I say yes, absolutely, thank you! There's then huge laughter as she's reminded by a coworker that they're out of stock, sorry!
I think about that night every time I've seen one since, and how I was thwarted and teased in my quest for desert that night.

IIRC many airport mcdonalds kept serving them because they didnt want to/have room for the ovens. i havent had one for awhile but ive had a few fried mcdonalds pies significantly after officially being discontinued when i got them in airports.

I had one in Hawaii in 2024. It was delicious. Whataburger also deep fries their apple pie. I may have ordered another one on the way out.
