Right now? Toyota offers more fun cars than Honda, GR86, Corolla, Supra(RIP) and if you’re in EU, Yaris, Honda has the Civic Si and R, that’s it.
So Toyota has more fun models. Now, if I’m going on build quality, aside from the Supra, I’d take honda models for feeling more expensive.
RBUL13@reddit
Honda for performance. Toyota for comfort.
WhiteBeltKilla@reddit
Toyota Supra?
RBUL13@reddit
That’s an out-lier and a well deserved performance Toyota but overall Honda for performance.
WhiteBeltKilla@reddit
Like what, the Si? Si is more expensive, no? Plus the dealership markups
RBUL13@reddit
Honda in general has always been more performance oriented. Toyota has more fit and finish. I work for both.
WhiteBeltKilla@reddit
I’m just trying to think of Hondas line up, and what they have that could be more sportier than a Toyota line up.
The only sporty Honda sporty car I can think of is the Honda Si and those aren’t really worth the price unless you’re Tommi from Delivrd and can get one at MSRP which… good luck.
Toyota has what, the Toyota 86, and the Supra. The 86 is pretty damn affordable.
What does Honda have?
RBUL13@reddit
Let’s say for instance base models: Camry vs accords, Corolla vs civics. Historically speaking, the Honda out-performs. Honda is performance driven. Motorcycles, indie cars, Atv’s and their cars. Performance first.
WhiteBeltKilla@reddit
Ok so base models, Canada, 2025 Honda Civic LX $27,840, Accord $38,300, Si $36,000, Type R $55-57k + dealer mark ups.
Toyota Camry $35k. Toyota 86 $32.
Also, Honda uses a CVT. You can’t say you’re performance oriented and only have CVTs…except on the type R.
Imo.
Am I missing anything? Just seems you’re really emphasizing Honda being performance oriented over Toyota.
We’re just talking cars, not bikes. Big fan of the CBR and fireblade obvs
FordF150ChicagoFan@reddit
Civics have CVTs now too? Boo.
WhiteBeltKilla@reddit
I had a 2017 and it had a CVT. I think all of them do
aquatone61@reddit
Honda. The only Toyota worth driving is the Supra and the GR Corolla, all the rest of their vehicles are so so boring.
According-Ad5263@reddit
The Toyota 86 is like, "What about me?"
FordF150ChicagoFan@reddit
I would love to take an LS-swapped 86 for a drive.
aquatone61@reddit
Oh snap, forgot about little buddy lol. It belongs in the fun to drive category :).
bonchokey@reddit
The original GR too, GR Yaris. We didn't get it in the western countries though.
FordF150ChicagoFan@reddit
Honda every time. Having driven both a Corolla and a Civic there's, and an Odyssey and Sienna, Honda is just more fun to drive with zero downsides.
The Corolla is the least enjoyable vehicle I've ever driven. It somehow manages to ride rock hard while also offering less steering feedback than a big ass Suburban. It's throttle mapping also feels designed to make accelerating quickly impossible.
The Civic on the other hand still has a hard ride but has a very direct/precose steering feel and the powertrain wants to rev. Feels very nimble.
Bubbly_Pool4513@reddit
If you compare an equivalent Honda vs equivalent Toyota, Honda is always more fun to drive. For example ordinary Civic vs ordinary Corolla, ordinary Accord vs ordinary Camry. But Toyota is a much larger company and have specialty sports cars that Honda doesn’t have.
DualShutter@reddit
Have had both. For me, absolutely Honda
UBP10C@reddit
Whirlpool or Frigidaire?
bomber991@reddit
Maytag.
JMHoltgrave@reddit
Honda. Every Toyota I've been in felt incredibly boring. I love driving my honda civic, even though my Infiniti is twice as fast.
Quagga_1@reddit
Honda all the way. Nevermind Toyota, Honda's steering and manual gearshifts are the best from Japan. IMO.
SteelFlexInc@reddit
Over the years what I’ve heard is for comparable models (civic vs corolla, accord vs camry, etc), Hondas handle better and are a bit more engaging while Toyotas are more comfortable with a softer ride. How true that is nowadays, idk but both are good brands
Interesting-Yak6962@reddit
They’re both good. The differences between them are often exaggerated. It’s very much like Coke versus Pepsi.
PurpleSausage77@reddit
Toyota for the 86’s but I suppose it’s mainly a Subaru underneath. Regardless, Honda doesn’t have anything as good as that for driving experience. I’d take RWD over FWD any day of the week.
Tony-cums@reddit
A stick will enhance your experience either way.
JiveXP@reddit
It really depends on the model. If we're talking about what's on sale today though, definitely Honda. If we're counting luxury brands, definitely Lexus
Individual-Cut4932@reddit
After having both I’d say Honda for driving experience
hillbillyjogger_3124@reddit
Ford.
WhiteBeltKilla@reddit
Ford Mustang. Ford won’t void your warranty after your engine blows because 5 months ago on a random Tuesday the computer shows you touched the tip of redline RPM for 0.03 seconds
Street_Glass8777@reddit
Neither.
AlphaDisconnect@reddit
I find modern Hondas ride sportier. Toyota a little softer. But tire dependant. They are very similar. Sit in the car. Does it fit. Try their adaptive cruise control lane keep assist. Does it work for you?
random_agency@reddit
Honda usually has better handling feedback.
dbpolk@reddit
Honda, Toyota is to uninspiring for me. They are boring
icemonsoon@reddit
mazda
atsevoN@reddit
Depends on the model. I love my Toyota Celicas but I found my Yaris boring
ZephyrStudios686@reddit
3rd this. MR2s are fantastic, siennas less so. S2000s are fantastic, CRVs less so.
CompetitiveLab2056@reddit
Yeah agreed, depends on the model. I never have cared much for the driving experience of a Corolla but I do like driving the civic
dr0p7E@reddit
As an owner of 4 celicas over the years, a 90 st coupe, 91 gt hatch, 96 st hatch, and 2000 gt, long live the celica!
atsevoN@reddit
I’ve had a Gen 6 for almost 7 years and a had Gen 7 for 3. They’re great cars 🙂
dr0p7E@reddit
5th gen are my favorite, just love the pop ups. And also the 6th gen 4 round lights, but gen 7 is definitely most practical nowadays
AromaticPollution333@reddit
Camry or Accord?
Corolla or Civic?
quiksi@reddit
Broadly speaking, Hondas are generally more fun to drive than their direct counterparts in Toyota’s product line. However, Toyota is in a lot more segments than Honda, including two “real” sports cars (the Supra and 86) both of which are excellent.
FitEntrepreneur9875@reddit
GM
Nivloc1227@reddit
I had a CRX in high school, loved that car, so much fun.
My wife and I have had 2 Odysseys when raising our kids, actually pretty sporty for what it is, much better than the Pacifica we leased.
Again, we currently have a Pilot, which is not a bad drive, for what it is.
Honda does seem to put a great deal of emphasis on the vehicles handling.
Haven't driven many Toyotas, except a Rav we rented, which was okay, not great. I've always liked the Celicas and Supras, with a special place for the MR2, but haven't driven any of them.
u-give-luv-badname@reddit
The Honda 6 cylinder will make your car run like a scalded cat. (that's very fast)
Astramael@reddit
Toyota sells a far better range of fun cars than Honda today. Also the Camry is a better drive than the Accord in this generation. I’d have to go with Toyota.
CompetitiveLab2056@reddit
Yeah it depends on the specific car, model, and generation for me.
smoshfan2017@reddit
Toyota side for driving id say supra or Gr86. Honda id say SI or type R hatchback. All of these are fantastic cars.
If money wasn't an issue id pick Type R all day. Its just Sexy AF. Otherwise my backup would be gr86. Very good for the price.
redhandsblackfuture@reddit
Recently test drove a few small suvs and the Honda cr-v was a way smoother ride than the rav4. Rav4 felt like an appliance and almost junky compared. I'm sure the rav4 is more reliable but..
adultdaycare81@reddit
Neither are great. But usually Honda
SirWillae@reddit
Personal preference. I've always driven Toyotas. At this point, I'm used to them. But Honda is perfectly fine, too.
Unique_Mix9060@reddit
It depends
redditforman11@reddit
Lexus
junger128@reddit
I’ve owned both for over a decade and personally prefer Toyota.
