Yep, and ill be getting up early in the morning to tidy round because the guy is coming out to work on my front door which is at the bottom of a flight of stairs (flat) so won't actually be coming inside 😂😂😂

My place is generally quite clean and tidy anyway. It’s not a show home, people live here and you can tell. But I will clear a space in an area any tradie may need to get to - a radiator, the boiler, under the kitchen sink etc etc to 1) make it easier for them and 2) make it easier for me to clean up any mess left behind.

I know some tradespeople that will be judgy, but even though they won't tell a client, the majority of the cleaners I know personally are really judgy. I feel I should be judgy when they ask me for tech help because they're not very good at it!

We actually stopped having a cleaner for this reason 🤣. It was so stressful every Thursday morning - we'd be dashing around getting the kids to school and trying to tidy the house that it felt like I'd done a full day's work before getting to the office 🤣

Doing ‘the cleaner clean’ as we call it. Heres the rational - cleaner is here for an hour. They *will* tidy if it’s a mess. But I don’t want them to tidy, I want them to clean, dust and hoover. So I tidy first so they can focus on cleaning.

Yes, because it's the key to encouraging tradesmen to clear up after themselves. If everything looks like it's just been scrubbed, they're more likely to sweep up after themselves, and more likely to make an effort not to leave everything coated in plaster dust, sawdust or random plumbing gunge. At the very worst, if you cleaned and tidied everything before they arrived, it's a lot less work to clean again when they've gone.

I absolutely do this. I am a single bloke and although not excessively dirty or dusty, I am a messy sod and have areas I've merely hoovered around. If I have any tradespeople coming round, I'll spend the thick end of a day getting the house looking less of a warehouse. I just don't want people to think that's the way I live (although it obviously is!)

I do. I'm pretty house proud (albeit always thwarted by ADHD) and feel embarrassed if someone might perceive me as a sloven. I care what other people think of me in general though (riddled with shame here). It must be fantastically freeing not to.

I work as a surveyor and I visited houses that has sh*t covered walls, mould, hoarding, a bit of a mess, or clean. I also get contractors/tradesmen for works and over see works. I always clean before they come to mine.

I make sure the area they are working in is as clear as possible. And if they are going to be there an extended time I set up a little refreshment station so they can make drinks/have snacks when they want.

It depends to what level. I’m not going to dust the sides down but I will remove as much as possible within the room and make sure it’s clean. I expect them to leave it as they found it etc. Respect works both ways.
