Various modernization kits for the Type 79, a 7.62x25mm Tokarev chinese submachinegun that is still widely used by the Chinese SWAT teams due to the lack of access to new pistols and SMGs. The Type 79 have been slowly phased away by the CS/LS7 but it's still used by various SWAT teams in China.

this always seemed silly to me, a submachinegun of not-so-good quality which went through a thousand teething issues has been the weapon of choice for chinese police for a very long while now, i thought they wouldve like, atleast used something like tge QCW-05 or something
Bad_boy_18@reddit
Some higher up in ccp didn't want police to have military grade weapons.
mergelong@reddit
That and the PAP themselves historically have a distaste for cannoning up
WesterosIsAGiantEgg@reddit
Totally understandable considering China's history with civil wars.
RamTank@reddit
QCW-05 is open-bolt so not ideal for police work. It's partially lack of a really suitable replacement and partially that they're good enough on semi, especially since Chinese police don't really use guns much anyways. If they do it seems to be usually just pistols or sniper rifles.
locolarue@reddit
The police in rural China were still using a hodgepodge of old 1930s era pistols into the 1970s.
This also assumes the police have a choice.

Ship of Theseus at this point, wonder when it has stopped being a sensible option.
drummagqbblsw@reddit
Paying more to airsoft manufacturers is better that going through government paperwork. The central government will keep asking why you even need new guns since the overall crime rate you reported is near 0.

That’s a good point indeed!

A medium-sized rifle with a small submachine gun feed looks so odd, I freaking love it lol.
angry-southamerican@reddit
Most submachineguns of the 60's and earlier had very long receivers for what they were.
duga404@reddit
Is that basically a miniaturized AK?
Lawrencecris@reddit
the magazine being as short as the pistol grip is always so funny to me

I even noticed they got MAGPUL furniture, or maybe that’s clone MAGPUL furniture
Scav-STALKER@reddit
Considering the amount of airshit clones made over there, I’d imagine they’ve got one of those companies cranking them out, I mean honestly some of the higher end ones are pretty much on par anyway

Pretty much, it's a PDW before the idea of one for standardized military use was ever fully realized.
Correct me if wrong.

The top one in the second pic has been modified so much it’s now a shotgun.
Sktw8@reddit
they should just use type 85
Interesting-Gas8519@reddit
-Sir, can we get the SIG MPX?
-We already have the MPX.
MPX at home:
(I know the Type 79 predates the MPX and is more similar in principle to the AK rifle, but when you search for "gas-operated submachine gun" and all the results point to the MPX...)
