Kaypro 10 screen issues
Posted by jjjacer@reddit | vintagecomputing | View on Reddit | 8 comments
I just acquired this Kaypro 10. It appears to be mostly working, however the screen doesn't appear to extend all the way to the bottom and it starts to roll back in on itself with the text appearing upside down. I've tried to adjust the vertical sync and position but it doesn't seem to be helping.
Anyone have any ideas where to check on this? It would be nice if I could feed a constant signal to the screen for proper alignment without having the motherboard plugged in as it gets in the way of trying to adjust the potentiometers. Or would there be a way of taking the video out and sending it to a composite monitor?

well went with the suggestion of a recap, was able to find a few replacements in my parts bins, which was enough to get it to work

now just need to get my gotek to work and eventually replace the hard disk (it has a bunch of bad sectors)

Just a guess from restoring old arcade CRTs but the monitor may need to be recapped.

wouldnt doubt it, recapping seems to fix many things, at least its usually the low voltage side from past experience, i was just hoping to rule out something simple before pulling the CRT board

I agree with the parent, this looks like fold over. I'd start with a recap.

yep recap fixed it

The yoke might be out of adjustment

There are some POTs on the display board that might be corroded. Some DeOxyIt and exercise them a bit (if the power is on, use plastic tools, though).

Parece un problema de la sección de salida vertical del monitor, algunos condensadores y transistores están fuera de rango
