MrPigeon70@reddit
See that is how a helicopter should behave around palm trees
unexpanded@reddit
Techically yes- but look how low he kept his rotor RPM! It was barely moving to keep the load off the fail rotor…
Time-Cop1984@reddit
Rotor rpm is always constant and is determined by a governor
ThrowTheSky4way@reddit
I can’t tell if you’re serious or not
1ThousandDollarBill@reddit
They are not
Outrageous_Cut_6179@reddit
Look closely and you’ll see the same rotor RPM on the failed one.
Tr35on@reddit
I presume there's a post you are referencing here?
cybershoesinacloud@reddit
here
Tr35on@reddit
Thanks. That's super scary. Hope everybody ends up surviving.
greenizdabest@reddit
Nurse on board died
WonkyTurgus@reddit
Sorry to see that people are downvoting the truth.
UV_TP@reddit
No, that was a different crash. This was at a Cars and Copters event in Southern California
GrynaiTaip@reddit
I'm not rich enough to understand what this is.
MrPigeon70@reddit
If any of the people injured don't make it I will delete my comment.
jello_sweaters@reddit
Sadly, it's time to do that now.
TurnoverMysterious64@reddit
That’s a different crash than the Huntington Beach crash. As far as I know, the two people in the helicopter and three injured on the ground from Huntington Beach crash are all alive, but their condition hadn’t been reported last I saw.
MrPigeon70@reddit
Wrong crash
ReturnOfTheSaint14@reddit
Yeah a helicopter crashed in California some hours ago
Chrillosnillo@reddit
Do these mfers ever stay in the effing air RIP Kobe,Mcrae,Stevie Ray Vaughn and alot more
Tr35on@reddit
Oh. Thx.
opteryx5@reddit
I was actually expecting this to yaw uncontrollably at first. Seen too many videos of that other incident lol.
p8nt_junkie@reddit
👀
second2no1@reddit
Thats a low bow lol
ImaginaryAcadia6621@reddit
😜
schastlivaya-zhizn@reddit
That aliasing 👌
imaguitarhero24@reddit
It's crazy how clear it looks, also a great demonstration of the fact that the blades don't slow down to land, the collective go brr
No_Sugarcoating@reddit
What makes the helicopter descend then? Does the angle of the blades change?
imaguitarhero24@reddit
I am no expert at all but I do know yes the angle changes increasing or decreasing lift.
oryx_za@reddit
I was looking forward to see how it looked when they did slowdown. I feel robbed.
ThrowTheSky4way@reddit
They don’t slow down
Transarchangelist@reddit
I’m sure they meant after the video cut and the rotor slowed to a stop.
oryx_za@reddit
Thats exactly what i meant. Thank you
Going_Solvent@reddit
Would've been epic! I reckon it would slowly move backwards. what do you think?
oryx_za@reddit
Yes, my guess was blurrythe backwards....then forwards....then blurry again. then stopped.
syringistic@reddit
If you look VERY closely at the main rotor as hes almost landed, you can see the blades skip just the tiniest bit as the camera catches the frame. Looks like maybe 2 inches per second.
BlackTree78910@reddit
I never knew helicopter blades could spin that slowly and still keep flying 👀
Tilde88@reddit
please tell me you're joking
ThrowTheSky4way@reddit
There’s a lot of people who don’t realize that that the frame rate of the camera plays into how the rotors look, those same people are commenting theories on why helicopters crash
Conundrum1911@reddit
Helicopters aren’t real. /s
ThrowTheSky4way@reddit
Tru
Tilde88@reddit
100% agreed. it's clearly the shutter speed. if the blades were really that slow, it would be on the ground in half a second
last_one_on_Earth@reddit
Blacktree78910 was joking
Objective-Holiday-57@reddit
Im so clever I know why helicopter blades look like that 🤓
upturned2289@reddit
It’s … a pretty easy concept my man. Nothing rocket science here.
Objective-Holiday-57@reddit
Yeah no shit that’s what I’m on about?
upturned2289@reddit
Why? What a strange thing to get mad over
Crimson__Fox@reddit
slogive1@reddit
Looks like an Apache.
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
Dosent look at all like an Apache and is not based on an Apache.
nighthawke75@reddit
A kid's version of the Apache.
Evidencebasedbro@reddit
That's what helicopters do 😉.
salkhan@reddit
I've heard an Apache helicopter and their rotors are somlound compared this helicopter.
AstroRoverToday@reddit
The words Military and Festival shouldn't be used in the same sentence, even though that's exactly what I just did 🤣
nighthawke75@reddit
This is the end result of good planning. The pilots scouted the location. Assessed how.much forward velocity it would take yo make a safe landing, and probably ram it through the simulator.
outkast767@reddit
I’ve been blacked out drunk in a bar 2 blocks from this square. lol small world
LostInDinosaurWorld@reddit
Is this the square in front of Teatro Garibaldi?
fritofrito77@reddit
The reason for the blades spinning slowly is the helicopter is running on silent mode to not disturb the neighbors. This is a common procedure when flying close to buildings.
morel_shitburg@reddit
Looks AI
IsXp@reddit
Why?
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
But its not AI, it literally happened a week ago, you can just google it, the event is called Villaggio Esercito, theres 3 different videos of the helo landing and you could enter it and make a photo for like 5 days
atthegreenbed@reddit
“Mom can we have Apache?” Mom: “We have Apache at home”…
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
The A 129 was not based on the Apache, it was not intended as a competitor to the Apache, and dosent even look similar to an Apache, so this joke seems very strange.
fk067@reddit
How many here are confused with the slow moving rotors.
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
They are not slow moving, they are actually going more than 200 turns a minute, they appear slow due to the shutter of the camera, quite a famous thing
GKtheanythingliker@reddit
Is that like an Italian AH-64 Apache
sum_yung_guy69@reddit
Apaccini
SchimL@reddit
Don‘t do that
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
Nope, its a different helicopter not based on the Apache, the A-129 was designed by Italy in the 1970s as a light scout and anti tank helicopter, its almost 3 times lighter than an Apache and has about half the ordinance of too , the closest helicopter in terms of role and weight is the AH-1 Cobra, wich is why the A-129 was named Mangusta, as Mangoose are the only animal that eats communly eats Cobras.
SpitneyBearz@reddit
Jeysus! Trees looked so close to it!
dallatorretdu@reddit
sweaty pams indeed
tiorzol@reddit
Haha fucking love that
BlackTree78910@reddit
Ffs 🤦♂️😂😂😂
dumpster-muffin-95@reddit
Better than Huntington Beach.
anun4h@reddit
Holly shit! Those blades basically stopped spinning. I presume a gearbox failure but I don’t want to speculate (let the NTSB do their job). Very smooth landing by the pilot during what must be a stressful emergency. Much better outcome than that landing in California. I am sure everyone survived this one.
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
Are you being ironic? The blades did not stop moving, the shutter of the camera matched the rotor speed, this is very commun.
NoLingonberry2831@reddit
That's tight in a bad way!
Big_Spicy_Tuna69@reddit
Those must be some very efficient rotors to provide that much lift rotating so slowly.
king_noslrac@reddit
BF6 has taught me to fear this chopper over anything else
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
Theres no A 129 in BF6, in BF6 the main attack helis are the Ah 64 and the Eurocopter Tiger, the A 129 was in battlefield 2 tough.
king_noslrac@reddit
Thats probably where my mind went. Tbh I haven't even tried the helos yet I spend too much time avoiding them.

Love the frame rate, great video :)

Enter than that helicopter in Huntington Beach yesterday.

You think Famke Janssen got out and jumped Onatopp of a dude and fulfilled his dream?

Tell me you are 40 without telling me you are 40
Area51_Spurs@reddit
lol. I can do you one better, I went to school with his kid.
crackhit1er@reddit
1000% best bond imho. Awesome bad bond chick, Sean Bean as the antagonist, good bond girl, Robbie Coltrane and Joe Don Baker are phenomenal comic relief, and Judi Dench is total fire as M, steadfastly curbing Bond's wit and charisma.
Whelp, now I got to see where it's streaming so I can watch it again.
ReturnOfTheSaint14@reddit
I've been inside the Mangista (yes, it's called like that) twice and i can tell you it has A LOT of leg room. Like,i'm 1.80m tall (5'9" for our American friends) and my legs are almost 1m tall if you count till the ankle, and yet I still had some space left for my legs inside. Granted,it was the Gunner position so i don't know if the pilot has some pedals in his position, and i also think that the seats can be adjusted, but it was still astonishing.
simpliflyed@reddit
1.8m is 5’11”. I don’t have anything relevant to add, but you’re selling yourself short.
ReturnOfTheSaint14@reddit
It's 5'11"?my bad i literally don't know how to convert from meters to foot or i mean: using the converter it gave me 5,9 so i thought it meant 5'9". I fucking hate Meters to Foot conversion, they're the hardest to do
simpliflyed@reddit
I knew 6’ is 184cm, so it didn’t seem right! I work in healthcare and despite metric measurements being standard here for 70 years people still quote feet and inches at me when asking for a height.
ReturnOfTheSaint14@reddit
Ok so what i'm understanding here is that the second number has a max: 5'11" is 180cm,6' is 184cm so it goes all the way to 12 and then the first number goes up?
simpliflyed@reddit
Haha yep, 12 inches in a foot! Which actually must mean I’m wrong there somewhere as an inch is a touch over 2.5cm.
Yeah, 183cm- or 1828.8mm is 6 foot.
ReturnOfTheSaint14@reddit
Okay so basically 12" is roughly 30cm, while 1' is basically 12"+1" meaning 1' is 32,5 cm,right?
WorseDark@reddit
No. Its 12" (inches) = 1' (foot). It will never be 5'12", just like you wouldn't say the time is 4:60
SecurelyObscure@reddit
You must really struggle telling time if anything other than base 10 confuses you this much.
ReturnOfTheSaint14@reddit
Ahah i suppose you're very funny when partying, the fuck is this type of comment?I have problems converting from a decimal metric system to a non-decimal imperial system that uses two sets of units. Kilos to pounds or metres to miles is super easy, but not this
SecurelyObscure@reddit
Yeah just having a bit of fun. It always amuses me when Europeans act like fractions are some sort of wizardry.
Fun fact, there was a brief period in the 18th century when France tried out a base 10 unit of time (10 hours a day, 10 minutes in an hour, etc.).
altitude-adjusted@reddit
Nothing really to add here but as an american (lower case intentional) I love metric and hate freedom measure.
DesertZero@reddit
Think of it like .9 of a foot, or 90% of a foot. A foot is base 12 (1 foot is 12 inches). 90% of 12 = 10.8 inches.
I'm a US guy that uses metric more than most here so I know the pain of conversions lol
sytraxis@reddit
Looks like something out of GTA5 Online haha.
Phil198603@reddit
Weird how it's flying without rotors spinning fast ... must be ai /s
pornborn@reddit
And backwards. Once it landed, you can see the blade pitch go to zero.
redwingfan01@reddit
It's odd how the blades appear to be rotating backwards.
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
Rotor speed matching the shutter of the camera, its commun
redwingfan01@reddit
Yes, it's still odd that the shutter speed makes it appear that the rotor is going backwards
Frequent_Heat_9759@reddit
So cool. Sicily is a hidden gem (maybe not Palermo)
Aggravating_Speed665@reddit
Never been the same since Westland was taken out of the equation.
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
I mean, the A-129 was designed by Italy decades before the Westland and Agusta debacle, so not really the best example to use.
Westland could had easily kept designing new stuff without being bought by Italy, the matter is more the very shitty (IMO) way the UK gov has treated it.
SooSneeky@reddit
The UK gov treating it's defence industry poorly? I'm shocked.
imaguitarhero24@reddit
Um I'm pretty sure the blades need to be spinning faster than that 😳
ExplosivePancake9@reddit
No they dont, they are spinning hundreds of times a minute in this video
rostov007@reddit
Honestly why even include the rotor blades if they aren’t going to use them? /s
Azurehue22@reddit
This is how I move in my dreams.
Mad_kat4@reddit
All I could think about was this scene. That is some weird perspective.
GeraintLlanfrechfa@reddit
This thing looks mean, could somebody please make it an addon for r/dcsworld, thank you! 🤗
F1McLarenFan007@reddit
That is really cool great video ty for sharing
SomeRandomSomeWhere@reddit
Looking at background car movement, its normal speed.
Looking at the blades, it looks like slow speed.
Nice video!
