A standalone GP-25 used by Ukrainian trooper during October of 2025. Note that the gun apparently lacks any type of sights and have a foregrip attached/adapted

I mean, MAC-V SOG carried sawn off M79s without sights in 'Nam. Other SF units have done so too. When the target isn't far and you got a good grasp of the weapon I guess it's not that bad?

Everyone that has been or still is grenadier in the military from different countries and they all said the same : you quickly just get a feel for it and just don't aim anymore.
My grandpa even told me that when he was in active duty in my country's military he saw 60mm mortarmen not even using the bipod and base plate and just range by eye and be as accurate as with the whole mortar set up.
I mean even in video games, if you ever use a grande launcher, after a bit you don't even need to aim.

A Ukrainian soldier once credited his grenade launching skills to his experience with the STALKER games lol
Pratt_@reddit
I'm not even surprised lol

The sights are on the left side if the grenade launcher.
agentkayne@reddit
That's true, but even when sights on the left side are laying flat, they have a circular pivot that sticks up a bit and is visible over the chassis. The one in the photograph doesn't have even that.

His aiming method might be more of a guess and check system.

It’s a surprisingly effective technique with a 40mm grenade. My guess is the low velocity means range and elevation changes are easily perceptible, and there’s no problem with observing impacts.

Eh, i've shot a GP25. Its more of a to whom it may concern type of weapon than actual aimed shooting.

All you need to do is play STALKER and you will become proficient at it.
Jokes aside, I know a lot of US troops using the M203 when they switched to the KAC handguard didn't bother with the sights. It's not that hard to get a feel for aiming intuitively with practice.
Swiftzword@reddit
With enough training you get a feel for and learn to lobb the grenades without sights. When you aim at a window or a "point of interest", grenades dont need pin point accuracy.
