Lost my dad who always helped me through these purchases. Is this car worth viewing with a mechanic?

Description on craigslist:
2016 Chevy Cruze, 4 cylinder front wheel drive, I have owned it for 7 years now, is due for maintenance ,it has been parked since I upgraded to a new vehicle. It is reliable, drives great, strong engine and transmission, 197k mostly highway miles, from commuting to work.
Reliable transportation and is great on gas.
The check engine light recently came on for turbo but it seems the turbo is fine. It doesn't affect how it drives.
If necessary, turbo cost $200
Clean title in hand, $1,900 , reasonable price is final. Everything works ,plenty of pictures are posted on the ad.

That deception alone is reason to walk away.

That's the worlds cheapest turbo replacement. That deception alone is a reason to walk away.

Why are you looking at cars while your dad is missing?

Yes review with mechanic. One of the risks of any car is recently cleared codes.

You don’t get much for $1900 these days.
Best case it runs and drives ok but realize it’s near the end of its life and will need some repairs in the future. Maybe the near future.
Worst case, it’s reached its end of life and someone is dumping it hoping to get someone to buy it.
If you can afford something more than $1900, I’d would probably look into something better.

You can buy some better things for the price at least. I have a friend whose selling decently maintained Tahoe for 2500 with the same mileage on it. I'll trust that a lot more a Cruze 💀

Get something Japanese. It will cost more, but you will spend more on that Cruze than it is worth.

Don't buy a cruze. Never ever buy a cruze

Avoid a Cruze at all costs

Run. Red flag #1 -Cruze; Red Flag #2 -parked since getting new one; Red flag #3 -new parts are only $xxx (they never include labor and the additional parts needed)

Don't buy that car!

If the car was just due for maintance or an easy fix the seller would have done it long ago. This car is a gonner.

Sorry about your father.
Also that’s a scam. And even if it wasn’t, I would never buy a Chevy Cruze with 197k on it.

I would never buy a Chevy Cruze

The ad is reasonably suspicious. I recommend seeing the car if you think it's a good bet. See if you like it and if the vibe is right. Both from the car and from the owner. You're ultimately looking to purchase something they're in charge of keeping in good shape and if they don't know anything or don't keep records or are suspicious then you shouldn't buy their car.
If it all lines up, you can pay a mechanic to perform an inspection. Generally, most cars you look at won't be worth paying for an inspection on.

Can you buy that car and register it with check engine light on? You can't in my state: it needs to pass smog check here, and the seller is responsible.
Doesn't sound likely to me. Maybe they omitted a 0 (and labor costs)? If fixing a check engine light were $200, most sellers would.
