Left my bike on the enclosed patio at work, this is how I found it when I went to charge it

Meant to put it inside but got distracted. I'm sure some crackheads thought our patio was a shortcut to the next block over and found some loot.
Have fun trying to pedal that thing, its a pig without power,
It was $600 new, the screens hanging by the wires, it's been dumped at least 3 times, and it has 2500 miles on it.

I was just doing an uber eats order and after I picked up I went to my bike to see some crackheads around trying to figure out how it was locked not realizing there were brake disc locks on it too and my bike also is hell without battery

I didn't down-vote your post, but I wanted to.
I'm sympathetic to your loss. My best bicycle ever, to that time thirty years ago, was left unlocked and stolen. It still stings for me to think about it.
My quibble with the post is your photo. You make a good point by showing us the empty room. I just don't think that we all should have had to search this ridiculously dark photo to find out there is no ebike in it. Editing is easy.
Ok-Asparagus5992@reddit
Turn your phone screen up grandma. I can see it fine
TheFreckledDready@reddit
Photo is unnecessarily dark-ish, but this comment got me! Made me feel that my little goatee was white, except for the dirty tip brushing the floor betwixt my ankles.

Or i could have NOT clicked on the shitty pic in my camera roll... but no matter what I think most people realized from the start there was no bike to be found in that pic.
CedricShanley@reddit
Be sure to check maybe the thief might try to sell your bike.
Put an air tag on your next e-bike. I have three in different locations hidden on mine.
AsSiMiLaTeD-77@reddit
This. I have four air tags on my bike, one decoy they’re meant to find if they get notified a foreign air tag is following them, then 3 others with speakers removed and well hidden that I’m actually using to track the bike

Sad , people have no respect for others property
MonzellRS@reddit
I don’t feel bad for people who make it easy
Greenhaagen@reddit
What’s the insurance?
PsychologicalBet7341@reddit
Was it renters insurance policy you put it on? If so, I need to put my Soltera on our renters insurance. I live in a woke town that is infested with homeless tweekers who love to snatch bikes that don’t belong to them.
Sp43C0wb0y@reddit
um, that seems like something you might want to at least ask a lawyer about because that seems illegal. if you had it insured for a certain amount, and they paid you less than that because it went on sale, that doesn't seem right..
VarietySilent4101@reddit
I had one stolen it sucks
Nervolol@reddit
Where did you find one for 600? That’s a deal
YeaYouGoWriteAReview@reddit (OP)
It's a steal actually....
Dangerous_Beat_4930@reddit
Glad you can laugh at it, but sorry for your loss

Ask around any homeless encampment in a big city.

Sorry your bike got jacked. Thieves suck azz. No matter the value of what they took. They just think "Hey, look what I found". Guess It was left for me.
tommykoro@reddit
I’m looking for a Bluetooth based alarm for my bike. I’m never more than 100 feet from it but scared I’ll loose my bike.
I did find a cable lock on Amazon that briefly screaches if you touch it and long loud blasts if it senses continued movement or cut cable. That’s ok but not what I was looking for.
Practical-Function-3@reddit
Every time this happens it happens without a good lock or no lock at all. I used to be homeless and already understand how thieves think. So I know how to avoid it all together. It’s like avoiding your ex wife lol
AppropriateOne9584@reddit
Were there any locks engaged when you left the ebike?
YeaYouGoWriteAReview@reddit (OP)
Battery is off and locked in the frame, but I didnt intended to leave it outside so I didn't have my chain on it.
permaburner69420@reddit
So no, not locked in any real way
Reelair@reddit
It happens. I was distracted after riding in a heavy downpour, forgot to lock my bike at work. Sucks, but shit happens.
permaburner69420@reddit
I'm certainly guilty of the same thing, I regularly leave mine outside stores
YeaYouGoWriteAReview@reddit (OP)
No. Not at all. Lol.
LargeNerdKid@reddit
Don't know why your being down voted. Sorry your bike got taken.

The answer you're looking for is no.

Sadly that's what happens when you leave an ebike unlocked, can't trust anyone.
Hortos@reddit
If there is security footage check it, most likely a coworker or someone they know. Theft unless out in the public eye is usually an inside job.
Negative-Wishbone634@reddit
Bummer but you got a good attitude about it. Good luck, I'll bet the replacement bike will be even better.

Locks & insurance
KitsuneCrew@reddit
that sucks bud. hopefully they find it.
id recommend spending at least 10% of any given bike in locks; for this case a frame lock. those things can be locked in seconds.
Fair-Discipline-1005@reddit
Answer is no...
ComprehensiveSwitch@reddit
$600 new? They did you a favor. Don’t buy junk, lock up your bike. In that order.
