My husband are going to Dallas on our 10 year anniversary trip Dec 31st - January 5th. What are some must dos while are there? Places to eat? Things to do? We don’t love fine dining. Where should we stay?!

ICE will still be going on at the Gaylord Texan in grapevine. It’s a walkthrough of entirely ice carved sculptures. Just be aware it’s very cold. They give you a good jacket, but it’s still freezing.
Stockyards in Ft. Worth.
Reunion Tower and the Dallas skyline is beautiful at night.
Gotta get some Texas BBQ. My recommendations are Hutchin’s, Terry Blacks or Pecan Lodge.

For clarity, this is a yearly exhibit of carved ice sculptures you pay to see, not fascist immigration police.

It’s 2025 and I have to explain what ICE is… I don’t like this timeline.

If I were you I’d plan a night in Ft worth and go to Joe Ts and Billy Bobs in the stockyards.
Areas to Visit: Bishop Arts District, Highland Park Village, White Rock Lake Activities: Dallas Arboreteum (after doing white rock lake), Katy Trail (and go to ice house), go golfing at Tenison park or Stevens park, find any tennis court other than park cities where you aren’t allowed, Batbox, TopGolf, hike at Arbor Hills/Cedar Ridge/Oak Point if you want some nature.
just top of head there are many others Restaurants Fancy: Al Biernat’s/Dakotas/Nick&Sams/Nuri, Norman’s, Tatsu Get Tex Mex: muchacho, Mariano’s, pappasitos are great but any mi Cocina will be fun Mid range: Hillstone, George W’s favorite Rise Souffle Restaurants Classic: Dunstons, Celebration
Hotels: I think Cooper is underrated. Allows you to access fun stuff in north dallas and easy access to tollway to get down anywhere like white rock or bishop arts. Rosewood. Swexan. crescent. Beeman. The drake. All solid.
Pick your activities first then hotel
