300 Mile Review - Aipas M2 Pro - 470 lb Rider

Here is my experience so far with the M2 Pro.
For starters, i'm a big guy. 6ft 4, 470 lbs but still very active and desperate for some wheels that could hold up to my mass. That's when I found the M2 Pro.
I was cautiously optimistic about the bike when I purchased it and waited over a month to receive it. On the maiden voyage I noticed a few things i didn't like but were not deal breakers:
-
The seat post/seat clamp is pure trash. Buy a new one or deal with stripped out teeth and a wonky seat
-
The bike is BIG and not very agile
- The brakes are not as good as you'd like but fair enough with almost 600lbs rolling.
- It tops out at 20mph (fixable through the screen options)
- It squeaks and creeks ALOT (very loud)
I got home and ordered a new solid bracket seat post and new seat (bigger) and am very pleased with the results.
After getting the hang of the bike it becomes easier to steer and a little more agile as your ability to control it improves.
Easy 60 second fix to get the speed limiter removed
To fix the squeaks and creeks I liberally applied WD 40 to the front rear suspension bracket and spring and adjusted the bolts there (problem solved)
After fixing these issues I rode a good 200 miles before noticing any further issues.
After about 200 miles I hit my first major issue:
All \~8 bolts holding the motor to the rest of the hub assembly all backed themselves out and were completely gone. I only noticed when i heard a huge clunk/grind when the last poor bastard bolt gave way and the hub separated into 2 pieces. I found a few bolts and put it back together for the mean time but Aipas is sending me a new one for warranty to fix this issue since some of the bolt holes in the motor/hub are stripped out badly.
This was very disappointing but i'm very happy with Aipas for making it right and sending a whole new rear wheel assembly (including tire and tube etc).
I have cautiously ridden a few times since (though missing 3 stripped out bolds in the rear hub,) i'm confident the 5 remaining with loctite will be fine as they are fairly evenly spaced and the hub is solid ( just take it easy when riding).
Not major issues since this but I have mixed feelings about this bike.
- It's amazing that it's so massive and can handle my weight really well (30mph fairly easy)
2 It's fast and feels solid
3 I get about 12-17 miles out of a full charge depending on how much i peddle and how fast I go
4 The light is SUPER bright and I love this.
- I'm upset with Aipas for misleading early buyers with lies about Samsung 21700 batteries and the Beifong motor lie
6 I'm happy with Aipas for holding up every bit of their end on promises of warranty, and free parts for waiting so long
7 For $1k this bike is amazing
8 for being a massive human being this bike handles my abuse surprisingly well (I ride fast and hard most of the time, racing cars and riding fast on grass and dirt and cornering hard etc)
9 This bike is heavy and hard to handle while walking even for a big guy
10 The key port for the battery at some point shifted and is off center to the hole which is odd
11 I got flat tires within the first 20 miles on front and rear because the tires are paper thin (i've since upgraded to thick inner tube liners, thick tubes, and self sealing goop and have been flat free for 180+ miles
12 make sure to tighten and retighten EVERYTHING on this bike. Everything loosens over time on this bike including the steering and motor hub lol.
- I with it had more gear range to play with, i feel very limited with only 1 gear in the front. Overall, there is no other bike on the market that can do what this bike can do for the price. I'm filled with mixed feelings but the overall sentiment is this bike is really great.

I’m confused, if it tops out at 20mph how does it go 30mph? Are you saying that at first, the computer limits it and you have to adjust? Is it easy to adjust?
Also thanks for the review, I’ve been looking at this bike myself. I have a daily commute of 24 miles round trip and am currently on an ebike, but mine tops out at 20mph. The m2 is cheap enough that it would be worth it to upgrade whereas with a super expensive ebike I might as well just get a cheap car

Yes exactly. It tops out at 20 from the factory and you need to adjust it in the settings to let it go 30. It's easy to adjust yes.
I still love my M2.

I have 50 miles on my M2 and so far I love it too. I’m not a big guy but I am taller than average. I got the extender handle bar. My bike showed up literally 3 days after I ordered it. I am recovering a total knee replacement. I assembled the bike by myself. Most YouTube say it takes 45 minutes. It took me 2.5 hours. I will blame my knee as I was only 3 weeks post TKR. Haha. This is my first e-bike. So I am a complete novice. I am also a senior. Combine those together and I am just out to rehab my knee safely while enjoying myself. We also my gal an e-bike too. She’s a novice too. We rode bike paths mostly. Stop lunch somewhere. It’s been wonderful. Loving it. As mentioned above the bike is somewhat of a beast. Heavy for sure. It’s a cruiser. It creaks a lot. Love the WD comment and will do that for sure. I added hybrid hydronic brakes. I totally recommend doing that too. And I added a big mirror on the left side. The biggest downside is I haven’t found a bike rack big enough to o handle the 53” between the tires. Most go to 50”. So we haven’t been able to take them on trips yet. Any suggestions are welcomed.

Love to hear this! Enjoy! Would you mind sharing a link to the extender handle bar you bought? I haven't found one yet that im sure will work. Thanks!

Im looking at this one for myself. But stripped out bolts have me worried.

If you pull them out and add loctite and reinstall it should never happen. It is unfortunate that the manufacturer overlooked a few things on this bike but if you can tolerate this stuff, it's a great bike.

This is the same bike I'm looking at for myself. The stripped out bolts is red flagging TF out of me.

nice review and kudos for the repair and maintenance recap.
Aipas is running big sales on everything right now so if you
need any accessories, looks like a good time...

Thanks I'll take a look!

Thanks for all the detail on this, we do get people looking for bikes rated for higher weights. It sounds like the company is trying to do the right thing in terms of customer service and warranty, that's good to hear.

Thanks for the honest and complete review! Have you needed to deal with customer service at all?

Happy to share. Just once for the replacement rear wheel. I sent them an email with my order #, 6 photos of the issue and a description of the problem. They requested a video of it, the frame #, and the motor #.i sent this back to them and they shipped out the new wheel. It's still in transit but on the way at least.
Was pretty painless with support.

Good to know Thanks!
