“Common sense” is almost always a complete bullshit term when related to policy. Tell me about the “common sense” ways that the government should control our economy
Banning corporate ownership of residential real estate, a minimum wage increase to one where people can afford a roof over their head and food in their bellies
Mass corporate ownership of residential real estate is a heavily government influenced problem. They protect those corporations.
You should check out Thomas Sowell’s breakdown of minimum wage laws. They were an explicitly racist policy to prevent southern black workers from taken jobs from white workers. After minimum wage was introduced, black teen employment dropped drastically, which was incredibly detrimental to the black community.
In short, things that sound like “common sense” are often not as simple or effective as they sound.
This is what most just don’t grasp. We’ve also never experienced capitalism so I also understand why those who don’t care to learn economics don’t get it.
But you’re a libertarian you shouldn’t collect unemployment, government assistance is against your views!
Well lady I’ve been taxed every check I’ve ever received, lowering my take home pay. My employers are taxed every check they pay out, lowering my wage which lowers my take home pay. Now I have no take home pay and I’m just trying to get back some of the mass amounts thats been stolen from me! I’ll quit using the tiny bit of government “assistance” I rarely qualify for when they quit taking money from me to support all the ones I never will.
To all the people talking about Cenk being principled, this is the same man who denies that the Armenian genocide ever happened, so I wouldn't go to far to praise who he is as a person.
Unless he's made a public statement announcing that he's changed his position on it, I don't believe anything that comes out of that socialist snake's mouth.
Been a fan who disagrees with Cenk for a long time, and I was especially impressed with TYT's coverage of the Charlie Kirk assassination. They were class acts, all of them.
Big fan of Cenk and TYT is my favorite news show even though they're much more progressive than I am across the board. When you can 1. consistently sprinkle in things I don't agree with but still 2. criticize your own side, that's how you know someone is legit

I don't believe there could ever be a time where Hasanabi's uncle is based.

Cenk is a socialist moron. But he’s principled.
tonylouis1337@reddit
He is for capitalism but with common sense guardrails

Not allowing the interests of the few to limit the freedom of the many
peanutch@reddit
the most economically free countries have the fewest regulations. government regulations are the problem
Fuck_The_Rocketss@reddit
Oh like welfare?
tonylouis1337@reddit
Lol, there is probably some way to establish an efficient form of welfare that doesn't involve the mess it has caused to this point
txtumbleweed45@reddit
Ya like making it voluntary?
Fuck_The_Rocketss@reddit
It’s by its nature the perfect example of your own definition. It is putting the interests of a few ahead of everyone else.
tonylouis1337@reddit
Not if everyone's interest is to see their fellow American doing okay
Fuck_The_Rocketss@reddit
It isn’t. Maybe it should be, but if it’s compelled under threat of incarceration (which it is) then it’s evil.
txtumbleweed45@reddit
That’s really vague, can you state some actual policies?
“The interests of the few limiting the freedom of the many” describes government perfectly

Around here, any state imposed guardrails qualifies as socialism.

Remember when everyone said that Mitt Romney had become the best republican not because he got better, but the rest of the party got worse?
I feel like Cenk did that with the left.

A broken clock is even right twice a day, I’ll take it.
