Anyone have any recent luck applying to Horizon via their Experienced First Officer route?

Asking for myself and a friend. Current military pilot with around 1,230 total time and over 300 FAR 121.436 qualifying TPIC, ATM written complete. Another peer of mine has around 1,300 TT and around 450 TPIC, R-ATP in hand. Buddy applied like 8 months ago and I applied about 3 months ago and it’s been crickets since then. Basically, does anyone know if Horizon is actually even hiring right now? I have to imagine the answer is yes since they’re gonna be at RTAG. (Yes, I am going and am planning to talk to them.) The radio silence is just a little discouraging. I’m trying to stay generally west coast or at least west of the Rockies because of my military reserve gig. Buddy is trying to for family reasons.

They are hiring, it’s slow and small classes.

One of the guys who just got hired at my regional came from Horizon as a former military pilot too, he said they’re hiring but it’s slow. You’re going to end up being Medford Oregon based for a while too. Apparently they don’t pay you during some of the training unlike other regionals so that can be rough if you don’t have good savings.

The Horizon junior base tends to move around a bit (although it's often MFR or ANC), and if there's movement at Horizon, it's distinctly possible to get your desired base pretty soon after you finish training. As for not paying during training, that's not something I've ever heard of. There might be something weird with pay during ATP/CTP, but once you're in ground school, you're getting training pay, even if you end up sitting and waiting a bit for sims or something.

Correct. They were in the middle of training at Horizon and left since their family is on the East Coast and they didn’t want to commute to MFR.

They are. They’re working spirit guys in. Not as much as United is, but large enough for their size of hiring

They're definitely running interviews and classes. I imagine it's somewhat competitive since they're pretty small compared to many other regionals and I know a lot of Spirit furloughees have been interviewing there recently.
