I feel be ability to use low pressure shells with the pump (or for whatever reason high pressure shells in pump mode if your in combat and are having jamming issues (like putting a gas regulator to advsrse) would make it more popular but the added weight and expense of having thst system might make it less attractive
Probably because they never worked. The SPAS-12 was never known to be reliable, and the only SPAS-15 I've seen in person was on display at a gun shop on Fayetteville NC. On display, not for sale because it couldn't fire 3 rounds in a row without jamming and anytime they sold it the customer brought the thing back almost immediately.
It has a weird manual of arms, so it was easier for procurement to buy something like the Benelli M3 for a semiauto shotgun. Franchi also was sold the year after release this gun, so they weren't able to have a strong presence in the market. Then Benelli was bought by Beretta that was able to push those products on the US market(first the M3 then the M4), while Franchi was bought later and put under Benelli without creating a competitor.
That looks like the ugly M16 that they used to draw in the GI Joe cartoons. With the magazine feed really far away from the trigger guard. I used to hate that ugly M16 in the GI Joe cartoons lol
I've never seen one before, but that stock hinge is atrocious. Italy can make some great shotguns and some really beautiful ones, but this thing is an affront to Italian firearms design.

i wonder why is this gun not so popular as other magfeds shotguns like the siga and aa-12
pstenebraslux@reddit (OP)
It’s very awkward-handling and it was unlucky to be released just before the American AWB which killed its export potential.
CyberSoldat21@reddit
Aside from that was this gun successful anywhere?

Max Payne 3

It was actually used by some Brazilian police units; probably why it's in the game.

Used by some Italian police units and the Israeli military for a time.

I’ve heard the police/militaries that used them found them to be pretty fragile too

Cost, reliability, erratic exports.

In the end, timing matters a lot

I don’t understand why you’d need a scope on a shotgun, would irons really not be good enough?

This looks like a gun that would come with an knockoff gi joe.

It was briefly featured in Terminator 2: Judgment Day as a plasma gun wielded by the resistance.

why ar-15 stock?
pstenebraslux@reddit (OP)
Because the original plastic stock was awful.

Such a cool looking design. I love the way Franchi’s look 😍

The hunter character in the 1995 Jumanji film used one of these with a drum mag and a suppressor.
