Nothing convinces me that driving through downtown is a swell idea quite like the prospect of alternatively driving on I 30 to get anywhere along that stretch.
This is either extremely old or extremely new. H-mart in Carrollton moving to the old k-town area, so it's about to be newest Korea again if it brings a bunch of restaurants with it.
I was going to say that, other than the popped collars the suburb portion is still spot on, especially up 75 through 635. So many abandoned strip malls, holy shit, its like a ghost town. I say abandoned but it's like out of 15-20 possible store fronts, there's 3-4 actual stores operating. I live off Preston Rd, a few blocks south of Beltline, going north on Preston and Coit rd its crazy how many empty strip malls I see. I shop at the Target off Coit right past Campbell Rd, the shopping center right before it is baron.
This map may have some areas that are correct, some out of date, but East Dallas just looks like they were just filling in anything so it wouldn't be blank. For example, 'Destitution Heights' is an area where housing prices have gone up 300-400% in the past 20 years ...
While rednecks may be considered a white underclass, like I said there was no mention of whites as there were other ethnicities. It was for a reason. And I’m aware of the reason. This Dallasite isn’t native.
There's a whole website of them. About 10 years ago there was a book of them that was printed but I'm not sure if they're doing that anymore. This map might be out of that book.
Have you been to North Oak Cliff lately? It's more blonde women jogging with babies and driving their BMWs to Tom Thumb than Mexicans with goats. Also, "Gay Outpost".
It used to be a lesbian enclave (25 years ago) because when you have two men’s salaries, you get stately Oak Lawn and with two women’s salaries you can only afford Oak Cliff.
I live in the section of Carrollton labeled Indians from India, and pretty sure they hit the wrong side of DNT.
What church are they referring to right south of there (Beltline and Kelly maybe)? I can only think of warehouses and strip malls in the area. I know I've seen some smaller churches scattered around the neighborhoods on Webb Chapel, but wasn't aware any of them were anything that would be known outside their own community.
i’ve seen this map a million times before but this is honest to god my first time noticing “establishments where you can have things glued to your fingernails” and that gave me a good chuckle

Canyon of death is alarmingly accurate if it's referring to I 30 south of downtown

I stayed in a hotel by date rape university once. The campus is beautiful in the fall…and very rapey
burrito3ater@reddit
This thing seriously needs an update. It's so outdated,.
bright1111@reddit
Nah most of the suburbs are accurate… except Carrollton is very Venezuelan now
berryer@reddit
Newest Korea also migrated north, by the Bush.
xanoran84@reddit
This is either extremely old or extremely new. H-mart in Carrollton moving to the old k-town area, so it's about to be newest Korea again if it brings a bunch of restaurants with it.
JoshBasho@reddit
The corner of marsh and Rosemeade is like the Venezuelan food truck mecca now lol
There are two gas stations with like 3 Venezuelan food trucks each and then down the road near the Walmart there's usually like 3 more
LP99@reddit
Technically, that’s Dallas.
JoshBasho@reddit
Technically, but it's barely not Carrollton. Right on the border
arlenroy@reddit

Religious wing nuts northeast of the lake. Lmao they’re a bastion of anti-trump

That's clearly referring to lochwood which is still the case.

Hardly. I live there. No serious presence of religious wingnuts. Very liberal and a much younger population than 15-20 years ago.

IDK - I live in Lochwood and don’t really see that, but I don’t live in the ritzy part.
