Practical question: What is the best mobile provider for travelling?

These things change from year to year. Right now, if you were expecting to need to be in the US (and some mainland Europe) for work which mobile provider would you go for?

Just to be absolutely clear when you say Europe, do you mean the EU or other countries like Switzerland? If it's EU only then I'd get a roam like home service (I have IDmobile) and then get an eSIM for visits to the US (I use Airalo).

Get a SIM in the country you'll be primarily living in then look at eSIMs as they are great for flexibility and normally cheap if you shop around and use promos

O2 still offer free EU roaming as standard, and roaming in the US (among other places) if you have Virgin broadband and/or TV at the same address.

I know Lebara has the US in its list of 50 countries included in your minutes. Not sure of the practicalities though.

I would just have an EU e-sim from the cheapest country, and also an e-sim for the US and top up when needed.
