The Holy Trinity of Lucy Lawless

Besides our favorite monotone warrior, what is your favorite Lucy Lawless character(s)?
• Lucretia
After Xena, Lucretia won my heart big time. I couldn’t believe I was warned of how awful she was! Lucretia was marvelous, her insatiable lust for life and that brilliant, calculating mind of hers. Then there’s Lucretia and Gaia, have you ever seen a closer pair of friends? They’re like sisters, really. Also, shout out to Michael Hurst, you king, for the love scene at the beginning of S2E3 with Batiatus/Lucretia/Gaia. It is one of the most beautiful, sexiest scenes I’d ever seen ever, so much so that I immediately knew who directed it without even looking at the credits.
• Ruby
When I watched Xena episodes like Gabrielle’s Hope and Paradise Found, I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I wanted to see Lucy in a horror show/movie. Well, I was in luck because Ash vs Evil Dead was waiting for me to discover it and it gave me everything I was hoping for! Just 3 seasons of me constantly in between a state of “That is so badass!” And “That is DISGUSTING!”
I think, one of my favorite things about Xena, Lucretia, and Ruby, is that no matter what awful, terrible thing they’re doing, I look at Lucy’s eyes and I’m immediately ready to excuse every awful thing they’ve done; “But look at her! She’s so scared/sad/excited/hunted by demons, it’s not her fault!” Lucy is absolutely brilliant at making her characters real and human (even when they’re not) and relatable.
Take me to the Temple of Mnemosyne so I can wipe my memory and watch these shows again for the first time!

🤰 🤰 🤰 🤰 🤰 🤰 🤰 should last forever. Grow inside her womb while she attempts to fight evil. Getting bigger while they kick and grow inside her womb. So much milk too

Great piece of tits and ass in her day.

I just realized I didn’t write Xena a little blurb and she obviously deserves her flowers so:
Xena, Xena, Xena. Wow. I just saw a video yesterday of Quentin Tarantino gushing over what a great backstory Xena has and how rich the show’s storytelling is. How Xena will always be searching for a redemption she will never let herself have. How all she can do is do good right now day after day because that’s the only way to weigh out her sins. And how rare that storytelling is for any character, male or female. He seemed very high but he wasn’t wrong!
I love how rich and complex a character Xena is. Everything she does in the present is painted with the knowledge of all the horrible things she’s done but, you also watch her flashbacks knowing how much pain she’s in and how much she’ll regret it all. You can’t have the light without the dark when it comes to Xena.
So beautiful

Tarantino "seemed very high but he wasn't wrong!" Bwahahahaha! Yes, no doubt ... freely ... expressing what a lot of others in the industry believe but don't say because the show was so "campy/cult," Renaissance so boldly independent and Kiwi Lucy so hard to pigeonhole.
I love what you say about her eyes sucking you into her characters' reality, empathizing with their point of view regardless of our personal likes/dislikes. My favorite is Lucretia in Gods of the Arena tending to the father-in-law she's secretly poisoned. He wonders out loud if she's the snake he always thought. She responds, "No. I'm far worse." It's like one of her eyes conveys "Sorry, old man," while the other eye turned my blood cold. I have this standee of her as Xena looking right at me, mouth in the tiniest smirk. I swear the expression conveys, "I've seen everything and know exactly what you're thinking." Absolutely uncanny.

There’s an underlying pathos Lucy carries into even her most villainous moments. Xena, Lucretia, and Ruby are remarkably strong but there’s a vulnerability that I can’t help but empathize with. She becomes a vessel for these characters to come out through so that as I’m watching, I believe that those people are actually existing. It’s not just a performance, it’s a window into another world.
And, oh, how she breaks my heart when something tragic happens to one of her characters. I’ve seen Lucy, and her costars, remark how Lucy isn’t afraid to fully go there. As much passion and fire as she brings to a Xena fight scene, she brings equal amounts of sorrow and despair to the more dark and angsty moments. I watch a lot of action, horror, bloody, violent things and not much has ever made my stomach turn, actually upset me, like >!Crixus slowly pushing the blade into Lucretia’s womb or the scenes where Ashur forces himself on her.!< She’s fearless.

ok you guys are gonna have me squeeze spartacus in my agenda and organise funerals for my sleep schedule but i just found out it's gonna arrive on netflix soon in my country so let's go lucretia! i don't think it's the censured version but whatever, i'm ready!
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
It’s very good, super violent, Lucy’s glorious. You’ll enjoy it 🙂
IseQween@reddit
Oh, yes that scene with Ashur was gut wrenching for me. As much as a loved the broad range Lucy got to perform in XWP, I admit nothing prepared me for her extraordinary, multi-layered performance as Lucretia.

After Xena my favorite role of hers is Alexa Crowe from "My Life is Murder"😊👍
RagingOldPerson@reddit
I love "My Life is Murder", its turned into one of my comfort shows. Cozy murders, guest star bad guys and Lucy looks like she having a blast😎
Humble_Square8673@reddit
I know right? She is definitely having fun there 😀
OrangeClyde@reddit
I love that show so much!
Humble_Square8673@reddit
Same 😀 you can tell she's having fun playing the character 😄
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
I’m saving My Life is Murder for last, like dessert. Because once I’m done with that, I’ll have worked my way through all of Lucy’s most notable roles and I’m not ready! This feels like me avoiding Season 6 of Xena all over again, like what am I gonna do when I’m done? Rewatch them all immediately? (Yes.)
But I’ve seen about 5 episodes and I do love Alexa, she’s really really funny. I watched the episode with Renee and that was so surreal.
Humble_Square8673@reddit
Yes rewatching right after you finish is always the right answer 😀 haven't seen that episode with Renee yet but now I know what to look forward to 😀
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
Hope I didn’t spoil her appearance, I thought it was early on when I typed that but I’m just realizing I skipped ahead cuz I couldn’t wait lol 🫣
Humble_Square8673@reddit
No worries I don't mind 😀
IseQween@reddit
Xena is my heart. Lucretia is Lucy at her dramatic best. Alexa is Lucy with a twist -- being naughty, comfortable and having a blast.
Humble_Square8673@reddit
I'll agree with that 😊👍

When I watched this film for the first time, I knew I knew this actress, I discovered years later that she is Lucy from Xena 🤣🤣🤣🫠
Michaelbirks@reddit
Eurotrip?
Ameistake@reddit
Yeah
Rainzero10@reddit
Easy.
The squeal that I sqwoled when she appeared before me like Jesus Christ Superstar and her second coming.
TicketTop4718@reddit
My god she was stunning in Spartacus 😍
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
Absolutely glorious. Truly. Screaming from the bottom of my heart: There’s a moment when I look at you and no speech is left in me! 🗣️
jdpm1991@reddit
Did she really color her hair for Spartacus?
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
No, that wasn’t even Lucretia herself’s natural hair lol Wigs for almost that entire cast, wigs in places you’ve never dreamed of 😅
TicketTop4718@reddit
Well there was a lot on show...a lot
So much nudity!
Popular-One-7051@reddit
Ill have to check out Spartacus sometime. Maybe I can pick up a one week promo to Starz then cancel Starz doesn't have much I'm interested in
IseQween@reddit
LOL! That's how I saw Spartacus and Ash, even lucky enough to record most of the former on DVD.
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
If you have Netflix, they just added it a couple of weeks ago. I highly recommend it.
If you do get a Starz trial, you can check out Ash Vs Evil Dead also
Popular-One-7051@reddit
I have an older Sony TV that won't even cast Netflix. only streamer that doesn't work-- unless I want to upgrade to no ads. FU Netflix.
I'll check Ash too. Thanks!!
TicketTop4718@reddit
Red hair definitely suits her

What about the Hestia virgin priestess?
NoReach1699@reddit
How about her role in Salem?
OrangeClyde@reddit
She was sooooo good as the water witch
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
I’m almost done with her arc on Salem, it’s perfect as always. The soft spot I have for Evil Lucy, the more sick and twisted, the more I’m like
TheInvisibleCircus@reddit
Range.
twentyoneastronauts@reddit
I did not expect to see Jamie Murray in this sub! I loved her in Warehouse 13
Mission_Fart9750@reddit
Yes! I got to that pic and said "H. G!"
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
She’s amazing. I haven’t seen anything else she’s been in but she is one of my favorite parts of Spartacus. Beautiful of course but also, so lovable and magnetic, you instantly understand how her character could affect Lucretia so remarkably.
IseQween@reddit
I bought the Battlestar Galactica DVDs she's in. She's awesome in that as well. About the only TV cameo or series I didn't get to see entirely was her as a Salem witch.
SakuraTacos@reddit (OP)
Lol that’s okay! Salem is on Hulu/Disney+ btw if you have that service, I’ve been watching her episodes on that show this week and I’m almost done. It’s really good, Lucy’s flawless as usual, just not one of my favorite overall shows but worth a watch
BklynBongshell@reddit
Loved her on Battlestar Galactica and Parks & Recreation.

If I had made this post a Mount Rushmore instead, I would’ve included Diane! In fact, I’m a little disappointed in myself that I didn’t lol I was an enormous Parks and Rec fan back in the day
And Karen Walker (Megan Mullally) was as big a part of my teen years as Xena was to my childhood. So when we met Diane, I was like “Of COURSE the only person with the power to vanquish Tammy 2 is Lucy Lawless!”
RiaC-81@reddit
You forgot her BSG role
Sarcolemming@reddit
Amen to all of this.
