Hey folks! I recently got a flat tire and doordash has been my only "reliable" source of income. That flat really has me in a pickle so im trying to scrounge up enough money to replace it with even a used tire. So if you have some work that needs to be done i can help! Idc what it is just trying to get a little bit of cash. Thanks for considering!

See if anyone counties need an election clerk, the position pays well.

I will certainly look into that. I've tried applying at many different places. Only the quicktrip on Jupiter has gotten back to me. Hoping for a job offer!
Twisted9Demented@reddit
QT is great place to work
pi2z@reddit
Is it really? Could you elaborate
Twisted9Demented@reddit
I Honestly don't know but they offer Great benefits and exceptional pay...
zimjig@reddit
I hope you can get it. Good place to work and later on if you're willing to travel to fill in at other stores you'll move up the ladder.
Shoddy-Cherry1458@reddit
east plano have some used tire store, they even let you lease tire
C818C@reddit
What’s it called?
Cloudy_Automation@reddit
There's one on K Ave just north of Parker
triforce388@reddit (OP)
I didn't know that. I will certainly look into that.
AdImpossible2298@reddit
Don’t get one from there, I’ve gotten a few used tires from that area and they all pop again after a couple months
zimjig@reddit
Have you tried to get a job in a warehouse (No not amazon)? As long as you show up and work you'll make a decent income. I work in lumber and it's been good.
SlowSupermarket8593@reddit
DM me what size of tire. I work at a car dealership I'll look for a match and if I can find a decent tire I'll give you one
Aggravating_Brief337@reddit
What dealership? That’s sweet!!
Twisted9Demented@reddit
Thank you sir..
🙏

Belligerent kindness is what i call this. I just DM'd you
bionicbrady@reddit
Put your spare tire on your car. Do just enough deliveries to make 20 bucks. Go to Mike's tires in East Plano and tell them your situation and they'll hook you up.
triforce388@reddit (OP)
My spare is also flat and not holding air. Bit of a crisis I know!
bionicbrady@reddit
Take your shredded tire and your spare to Mike's tires on East Plano. Explain them your situation.
They will help you out for free or loan you a tire so you can get back on the road to make money.
They are good people there. This is the way
SlanginRooster@reddit
Moved here from Indiana where it takes a total of 20 minutes to get a license ... No appointment.
Roads are better.
Plates, registration, licensure all done at same location.
Texas needs to get their shit together.
Lucky7C@reddit
What kind of vehicle?
More importantly, what size tire are you looking for. I used to work at discount tire and can give some solid advice to get this fixed.
Lucky7C@reddit
And honestly, I can help you get a new tire if you’re in dire straits
triforce388@reddit (OP)
its a 215/55r16 is believe im not the most knowledgeable when it comes to car so forgive me if that sounds wrong.
Lucky7C@reddit
Word, cheapest route here is to take the entire tire off the vehicle (leave your car jacked up safely).
Call discount tire or really any tire shop and ask if they have a used 215/55/16 they could part ways with for cheap. If yes, take just the flat tire up there and they can swap it out for you probably for free. They’ll charge you labor if they have to take it off the vehicle and put it back on. But if it’s just putting a used tire on a wheel they won’t charge you for it. Take like 1 min.
Take the tire back home and put it on yourself. Then, once the tire is on the vehicle take it back up there to get the lugs torqued.
BeekeeperZero@reddit
You may be spinning your wheels...pun intended. Any corporate owned place would be concerned about the liability. Probably better off calling the mom and pops and posting on nextdoor or marketplace for free tires. Some kind soul may just bring you one. Still may have to pay for balance and mounting. If they have it on a wheel already check the lug pattern for your make and model.
Lucky7C@reddit
Respectfully, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Realistic-Pay-6931@reddit
Your opposition obviously has never been to a Discount Tire before. That company will go above and beyond to help someone in need.
triforce388@reddit (OP)
I tried toting my tire down to the one closest to me. They said sorry we cant help you. Unfortunate but it was worth a shot.
Twisted9Demented@reddit
Discount tires do sell used tires and honestly they're the most ethical ones when it comes to buying used tires from.
BeekeeperZero@reddit
Homie has $7. I know they sell used. Looking for highly discounted or free tire Discount don't do.
Lucky7C@reddit
I worked there for several years and witnessed not only used tires given away but brand new tires as well. Yes, for free. Happens every day.
BeekeeperZero@reddit
Sounds like you are willing to help him out. Thank you.
triforce388@reddit (OP)
For sure i will call around again just to double check. The nearest spot to me is about 2 miles and carrying a tire up there just for them to charge me more than i have sounds like a punch in the gut.
Lucky7C@reddit
I mean, if you’re not willing to walk then idk what to tell you pal.
Just walk in to literally any tire shop, tell them your story, shredded tire in hand, and offer what you have. I guarantee you they help you out.
triforce388@reddit (OP)
I’m very willing to walk. I took it down there earlier today and got told hey sorry we can’t help you. It was indeed a punch in the gut. If you are offering to help though I am in dire straits I need about 13 bucks to get a used tire. I currently have 7. I can mow your lawn wash your car. Whatever you need. I just need to earn some cash.
Lucky7C@reddit
I got You bro, dm me you Zelle or Venmo

Maybe consider being a valet trash worker where you pick up trash at apartment doors. They’re usually always hiring because the work can suck and it’s not a little of hours but I would earn an extra $25-50 a night.
Realistic-Pay-6931@reddit
Don't they require you to own a pickup for this job?
cherubk@reddit
It depends on the apartment. Trucks are needed for certain properties but you can be assigned as a helper for someone with a truck.
Mythdome@reddit
Op what time of the day are you available to work and how many hours are you trying to work?
triforce388@reddit (OP)
Any and All i can work early or late. I currently don't have any real commitments.
triforce388@reddit (OP)
I haven't thought of that either i will look into it.
_Abuchan_@reddit
Hi, I don't know if this is helpful, but on the Plano government website, there's a section where job openings are posted and you can apply. I don't know how effective it is, but you could try it; there are several job opening options there. I really hope you have better times in the near future; it's really hard when everything seems to be going wrong at the worst possible time.

Here's a little friendly dad advice on the tire situation. First, there are two places to confirm the tire size. The obvious one is just to read it off the tire you're replacing (which I'm guessing is what you did). If it worked before, then replacing it with the exact same size should reasonably work, you'd think. But the other place to check is on the sticker inside your driver's door jamb. That'll tell you what wheels and tires originally came on the vehicle. When dealing with a second/third-hand car, it's always worth just double checking that you still have the correctly sized tires. If the sticker matches what's on all four wheels of your car currently, you're golden. If it doesn't, then you should do a little more digging to make sure that whatever wheel/tire changes a previous owner did actually are ok. The reason I bring this up is I've seen all kinds of whacky where someone put a mismatched tire on an old beater because it's all they had and then an owner or two down the road that isn't all that familiar with tires goes and puts on a same size replacement when they could have corrected the problem. I even helped a girl one time who couldn't figure out why her tire had burst when it had clearly been rubbing for a long time due to improper/not-original size. So it's always a good idea to just do a little double check. If you discover anything that doesn't match original, go ask about it in one of the car subreddits to see if it is a suitable substitute.
As for a replacement, there are a ton of used tires listed on FB Marketplace in that size. If you can't stumble onto one here or at a nearby used tire shop, you can get one fairly cheap on FBM. Key there is to really check condition. You buy it, get it put on, and it has a not-so-slow leak, it hasn't really helped you out much. Plus if it's very old, it won't have great traction, especially in rain, so could be a safety hazard. Manufacture dates on tires are expressed in a 4 digit code on the sidewall. Those 4 digits are the week of the year, and the last two digits of the year. So a 2224 code would be the 22nd week of 2024. Not worth putting on a 5+ year old used tire even if it still has what appears to be decent tread. Ideally, you'd put on a near-matching tire, like same brand/model of tire as what's on the opposite wheel (like if front right is the flat, at least try to match the other front tire if possible). But hey, cheap is sometimes the only criteria and if it gets ya down the road, I understand.
Last quick tip on tire sizes, the three numbers you list are pretty standard. First number is the width of the tire in mm, second number is called aspect ratio and it's the height of the sidewall as expressed as a percent of the width of the tire (dumb, I know), and the third number is the diameter in inches of the wheel. Those really only become important if you start trying to change something from original or find you have something other than original. But if that helps you understand what you need, it's better than just viewing 215/55/16 as completely meaningless goblety-gook. The R stuck in there is radial, but that's almost meaningless at this point because they are all radials unless you're buying like an antique, OEM correct bias-ply to restore a vintage museum car. And there are some high performance variants like ZR, too, or LT for light trucks. But generally on passenger cars you just need to watch the three numbers.
I've got a crazy busy week or I'd grab my hydraulic jack and impact and get you squared up at a used tire shop. But hope this helps.

It's very interesting information, I really don't know anything about cars so it's interesting to learn something.

Will do! i have about 7 dollars at the moment and looking to find one for like 5 IF POSSIBLE. Frankly just looking for any odd job as i know im probably not going to find anything for 5 or less. I'm not the kind to beg for money but i will offer myself to work. Thanks for the tips! Didn't know about that sticker thing

Get your tire sorted?
How old are you? If over 18 are you either an American citizen or legal? I'm not ICE and definitely not trying to bust you! (Awful I even have to say that!) Just trying to find opportunities.
I know you are a gamer and that can put people into an "escapist reality" rut. And I feel that. Sometimes when times are down it's easier to find that disconnect from life that doesn't judge and gives dopamine rushes.
Have you applied for construction work? There are a lot of companies coming to a halt, but there are still a lot hiring and DFW is pretty ripe for it. The work will likely be exhausting but rewarding. Find any area under construction and ask the subs, foremen, Gcs, if any are hiring. I'll ask a few guys in the morning. Plumbers and HVAC companies will be starting to ramp up to get ready for winter season. Electricians need help in this state massively (call the city building departments and ask the inspectors if they know any contractors that are top notch and possibly hiring). I won't lie to you, construction can be brutal, but also once you start to click with the understanding of things, you will find a lot of joy in it. Just take care of your body and be your biggest champion in life.
Lots of grocery stores around here hiring atm also. Remember is the kick off to seasonal work. Target, the mall, Halloween stores, big box stores (Lowe's, home depot) are all hiring for seasonal hours. Also apply to Costco tell them you are willing to work any shift (their benefits and pay are hard to beat for many, same with in n out!) .
Your responses and reddit profile makes me like you. You are mentally professional enough to carry yourself even in dire straights. That's respectable and I want you to know that you should be proud of yourself for that.
Anyways feel free to hit me up if you prefer it private. Let's turn that gaming loved life into one that looks at this as resetting the goal posts and setting sights on defeating your first dungeon boss.

Thanks for the kind words ya I’m well over 18. And yes an American citizen(I agree it is awful!) I have applied with so many places I have buddies that work construction in multiple fields and continuously try to network through them. I’ve tried to apply to all the nearby retail/and grocery positions but haven’t gotten any luck there either my resume SHOULD get me in the door with retail in particular but no luck. I certainly haven’t done everything you have suggested so, I will give that a shot as well. I appreciate it. I haven’t gotten the tire situation fixed up yet but today is a new day!
My retail experience has trained me to stay professional. It’s hard especially in times like this to not wanna take off that mask and just break down. So I do appreciate you saying that it means a lot.

It’s not “live off it” cash but def look into paid surveys in the area! P&K research, Dallas market research, and K&B are all ones I’ve used.

Thanks for the tip! I will certainly look into it. Just trying to find some work at the moment for me to get just a few more dollars to get a tire and then all will be well again.

Send me the tire size, I’ve got about 8 tires of different sizes sitting around. You can have it if it’s the right size.
