What an interesting comment: ICE is doing the Lords work. So, the Lord only cares about white people? Dude needs to lay off the cheap drugs before he hallucinates flying out of a window.
Ill_Help_6692@reddit
God bless Donald Trump
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
Yeah, Donnie does need all the help he can get, doesn’t he. Though I’d point out, God has a tendency to let his favorites down. How many times did they get driven from their homeland and genocided? Dude sent his own kid down to be torture killed, and certainly didn’t do shit for Charlie. You guys might want to find a new sponsor or, ya know, just do it yourselves. You have agency after all, quit appealing to authority to solve all your problems.
Ill_Help_6692@reddit
That’s what democrats do bro? I would like to end all public aid and deport all illegals..
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
Well, are you doing what you’d like, or are you begging sky daddy to empower men stronger than you to do it for you?
Ill_Help_6692@reddit
I mean it’s illegal for a private citizen to do those things? Soooo I kind of had to depend on the government to enforce its laws. Laws which protect us. Laws which ensure the integrity of our country. I mean come on man. Let’s get real. F*ck everyone else.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
Defund public aid but it’s illegal to enforce laws yourself. Well without public aid the police don’t exist. Neither do fire departments. Or the thousands of other departments that serve the public. Does law enforcement then be come a private pay-for-protection racket (more so than it already is), or in this case “fuck everyone else” society is it it just do what you want until someone bigger and badder stops you or takes all your shit?
One of the things the 1950s got right was trying to build on the civic mindedness that came out of the struggle to survive and turn it into a sense of obligation to do for your community. Wealth disparity killed that, now the rich just give to charity as their “doing” when what we really need are people that do in person, give their time and talent. There’s a lot of public entities that we could greatly reduce the need for if we simply gave of ourselves to our community. And there’s no way to fuck everyone else, there’s 330million of us living here and very, very few can be so entirely self-sustaining they can literally lone wolf it out in the woods, and even then they only get to do that after enjoying the perks of society and walking away from it.
Ill_Help_6692@reddit
Bro, you are autistic as f*ck.
Virginia_Hall@reddit
The "administration's goal" is to overthrow the United States Of America.
Sunandsipcups@reddit
Spokane is NOT liberal??? That's Idaho border, wants to seceed from Washington, etc.
Soft_Walrus_3605@reddit
That really just means that the liberals there will be even more outnumbered.
My guess is they want to start test cases to find out how the more "purple" cities react to the National Guard to see if conservatives will welcome the tyranny or join their liberal friends.
Fluffy_Coyote_4226@reddit
There are more liberals within Spokane than you'd expect but they are surrounded by red. The rest of E.WA is maga country. The cascades divide.
Wheres_my_wank_sock@reddit
Now Boise could go bad quick. The city has a very unique hippy, hill billy, outdoorsy culture that I haven't experienced anywhere else. It's an awesome city weighed down by Idaho's politics. That said, everyone I know there has guns. Could be the first time they will be dealing with an actually legal armed group of protesters. Idaho is constitutional carry and open carry.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
Boisean here. We routinely punch above our weight when it comes to protesting and resisting. We had one of the longest, most successful Occupy Movements out of any of them, 7mos and a lot of court battles; no violence. Our BLM and No Kings rallies have also been exceptionally large for our size given the deep red of our state, also very peaceful. And yeah, the lefties show up armed. Not as heavily as the counter-protestors who drive in from the rural counties to try and intimidate us, but well enough. We have a lot of volunteers who coordinate and provide education about how to protest and stay safe, the same ones who filed a lot of the suits to keep Occupy going. We’ve always been small and isolated but it has also resulted in a tight knit community.
I expect that Boise will follow Portland’s lead- harass, get smacked, show up again the next day. We have good restraint. I also think we have the potential to organize an effective general strike here and shut the city down.
Our main concerns are our communities of color, LGBTQ, and refugees. We’re quite queer friendly and we know it’s hated by many. We’ve long been a refugee resettlement hub and historically for our size have taken a huge number. As they often find housing with fellow refugees, we’ve got certain parts of town that are known for their presence. Same for brown people. Just like everywhere else, our farmers that voted for this are going to get double-downed on the fucked they’re already feeling from tariffs. Everyone knows potatoes but dairy is our biggest ag product, 3rd largest producer in the US. Gee, wonder what the labor pool looks like at a dairy…
And then there’s the goddamn Nazis. Not just white Christian nationalists, the disgusting volume of them that openly embrace the hate symbols and walk carefree into the grocery store. They’ve already been playing ICE and prowling our streets, no incidents yet that I know of. But they’re the real threat. We have some serious hate issues here. But we also have a surprisingly solid punk scene, and while we have a great track record of non-violence at our protests, cracked a few skulls and scraped a few knuckles in the alleys behind clubs over the years. Boise’s ready because we’ve long known who lives just outside of town.
Electronic_Merkin@reddit
Also Boisean in here. What the hell are you smoking? What protest? Did you just make all of this shit up? last time they had a protest barely anybody showed up. Except for the Charlie Kirk memorial you might’ve been one of the guys riding their bike around.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
I lived at Occupy for almost the entire duration of its existence. The women’s empowerment march when Trump first got elected. The BLM/DTP/Pride rally when the cops goose-stepped through the speakers then went and stood with their back to the heavily armed anti-protest crowd filled with shit bags covered in Aryan tattoo they’d picked up in prison, outlaw motorcycle club members, and Ryan Davidson posing with people wearing SS bolts as he campaigned for city council. The one where I watched a grown man with a giant swastika tattoo tell some teenage lesbian girls “good dick will set you straight” and the cop standing next to him laughed. The nightly BLM walks around downtown while little dicks in big trucks burned coal up and down Main and Idaho, pointing their ARs and simulating shooting while the cops behind them did nothing. The anti-mask mandate rage that convoyed from Middleton and Nampa to harass the mayor, city council members, and vandalize stores posting “mask required”. The rally where a teenage girl drew an anarchy symbol on the Capitol and got the book thrown at her but a few days later when some teenage but adult Rittenhouse wanna be popped off a round into the ground but because his hat was the right color got a stern talking to.
As for Nazi fights, the first time I saw one was when I was 14 and headed to a basement show in the North End. Watched a punk chick smash a PBR over some bonehead’s skull and her friends go at there’s. In the early 2000s we worked to stop Hammerfest from coming to Boise by calling every venue to tell them not to host, trolling Hammerskin socials, and eventually they played the front porch of some dump outside Weiser to a crowd of nobody. Around that same time we had a brawl in Mulligans when a known Nazi symp walked in with his goons wearing a swazi button looking for a fight. Fought off a Nazi rock band and their crew who drove up from SLC to get revenge on a local punk band for calling them out outside Shredder, the only time I’ve ever seen people actually wield bike chains with padlocks and 2x4s. I admit, we knew in advance they were coming and aura farmed some Warriors vibes on that one because it was getting filmed.
Photos of our last No Kings made rounds on Reddit because users were surprised Boise had such a high turnout. Even Pocatello and Idaho Falls had noticeable turnouts. Boise represents itself well, plus we’re the likely destination for Blaine county residents to drive down and join up at. And we famously remain disciplined and peaceful despite often being out numbered by hecklers, agitators, and haters. Most of our BLM rallies were outnumbered two to one, and the big one where Pride showed up to support was against the most heavily armed crowd I’ve ever seen downtown. But I think our restraint was on perfect display when Mark Fitzpatrick threw his Heteroawesome Fest and we just ignored it, didn’t indulge his hope for optics of protest, and one brave dude trolled it by taking the stage and singing exactly what the didn’t want to hear. And I get that society generally frowns on the idea of rival street gangs getting into bareknuckle brawls in downtown allies, but when neo-Nazi ex-cons stroll into clubs and bars they know the punks hang out in they’re not looking for polite discussion of political differences and bridge building, and I can tell you from experience the cops always go for the folks in leather and studs even if the bar tender is trying to show them the footage that proves the Nazi started the fight.
Electronic_Merkin@reddit
Sounds like you got some serious mental issues going on buddy. I feel sorry for you. I hope you get the help you need. peace be with you.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
I don’t know where you got the impression we’re buddies, I thought it was pretty clear I have a low tolerance for Nazis and their sympathizers, though I do appreciate the ones who will take the initiative and front their hate rather than hide behind secondary dog-whistles and demagogues. Even a begrudging respect to the ones willing to do their own dirty work and try and force the issue rather than passing the buck to stronger men. Hate is disgusting but half-assed hate is pathetic. If you want change, even if it’s regressive, you’re going to have to do more than boot-lick and appeal to the authorities to save you, because the rest of us absolutely will fight for this country. But, by all means, stay home, then go back to pissing and moaning when your team loses even though you did nothing of merit to help except delude yourself into believing anybody not on your side was mentally unwell and therefore could be dismissed. See you No Kings, though I’m guessing we’ll be across the street from one another!
Electronic_Merkin@reddit
Nope. Hating someone for hating you is suffering. Love is the only way through this. Nobody’s on the other side, except for hate. Find your light.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
I don’t hate them because they hate me, they don’t hate me. I’m a middle-aged white man, I can walk around in this country with no fear of the cops, Nazis, MAGA, and would likely be able to find paths to greater success if I did just play along. As someone on here told me, why fight, with all the immigrants getting sent out of country you can probably find a second house for cheap. That’s why I fight, that mindset, indifference to the suffering of others because maybe you could gain from it. I believe everyone has the capacity for change, and that everyone is entitled to have their own beliefs and opinions. Tattooing a swastika on one’s self is a pretty simple declaration of one’s beliefs. How do you begin to build bridges with love when the person you’re dealing with is using hate symbols to attempt to cow you and actively supports genocide? This isn’t the Civil Rights era, where eventually enough peaceful protestors are going to have their skulls cracked by a bunch of racist cops and townsfolk and the federal government finally intervenes. The federal government, possibly the most powerful institution in the world, has their dudes attacking apartment buildings in the middle of the night and zip-tying the hands of five year olds, and even worse, a lot of supporters who cheer for this as well many who aren’t pleased but won’t speak out against their party. They are hurting people, vulnerable people, and hurting people is a choice. I find their choices despicable, and I am fine with my choices to fight, because I love the people who cannot fight back for themselves. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. And I’ve got friends everywhere.
Electronic_Merkin@reddit
So much anger…that is hates manifestation. Please seek help. Peace be with you.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
I never denied I am angry and flat out said I hate people who choose to use their advantages to exploit the vulnerable. For people like you, the cowards who empower the cruel while hoping to find a boon in the scraps they leave behind, it’s not hate, just contempt. And seriously, I can see your comment history, I know you’re simping hard for what’s going on in this country. You can drop the virtue signaling of “I’m a man of peace”. You support a violent, hateful regime and hide behind hollow words because you have no real counter-argument when their actions are called out.
No-Abalone-4784@reddit
Good luck & stay safe. Thanks for the update. We had a good group from Occupy here too.
bristlybits@reddit
Spokane has a similar feeling; being right across the border from...THAT means we are usually ready to fight. they'll have an easy time out in the red counties around us though.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
Boise is blessed by the fact the panhandle makes it tough for CDA/Hayden’s sewage to flush down the pipes often. But personally I think what’s lurking on your outskirts is worse than what we’ve got down here. 🤝 my friend, and best of luck to you.
bristlybits@reddit
oh it's worse. NI comes here for their weed, doctors and abortions. they got life flights here in 2020-2022 for big covid waves. then they drive home back to hell i guess.
but it's been bad there since the 80s/90s, i do think it is improving some. I'm hoping all our outlying area neighbors start to wise up at some point.
regular people in this region really just don't want to be bothered, just want to live their life and be left to it. it's a common thread from the worst old-timer neonazi to the most urban and urbane city people. we all like our privacy and personal space here.

I live in WA. People from Idaho are lovely but they are also high on the list of "I'm going to do what I want and fuck you if you don't like it" attitude.
If things get ugly my money is on Idahoans. Hands down.
Individual-Engine401@reddit
Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and its connection to neo-Nazi or white supremacist activity, here’s a factual overview: Coeur d’Alene and the surrounding northern Idaho region (particularly Hayden Lake) were historically linked to white supremacist groups — most notably the Aryan Nations, a neo-Nazi organization founded by Richard Butler in the 1970x still active to a degree.
• Aryan Nations compound: Located near Hayden Lake, about 10 miles north of Coeur d’Alene. It served as the group’s headquarters for decades and hosted extremist gatherings. • Legal defeat: In 2000, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) successfully sued Aryan Nations after a violent assault by its guards. Butler lost the property in the lawsuit, effectively dismantling the group’s base. • Aftermath: Since then, Coeur d’Alene has actively worked to shed that image. The local community, police, and human rights groups (like the Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations) have fought strongly against hate groups. • Current situation: Today, while most extremist activity has been pushed out, occasional appearances of hate leaflets or small rallies still occur in parts of northern Idaho, as they do elsewhere in the U.S., but they are widely condemned by residents and officials.
Outrageous_Laugh5532@reddit
I have never once seen or heard of a rally in north Idaho and have been in the Spokane area for almost 10 years. Random flyers yes, but never any rallies other than the patriot front one a few years ago but they weren’t from Idaho.

If you're correct (I have no idea), this could be exactly what the regime is looking for. And they probably won't mind sacrificing a few hundred feds if they can declare martial law as a result.
gard3nwitch@reddit
They're sending the military into our communities. Martial law is here now. They don't need to find an excuse.
ForthrightGhost@reddit
It’s going to happen anyway. The rhetoric they are using has set us up for ML. Plus, if anyone tries to interfere, which you should…they are either arresting you too or shooting you. Stand up anyway. Purists usually turn against themselves in a purity contest. That being said the timeline of the Executive seizing Congressional power of the purse and using our national guard or military to "wage war" on cities has blindsided US citizens let alone green card or other visa holders. Effective-Ebb-2805@reddit
It's not game. This is an expressly accelerationist administration, and the tractor is not in their hands. There's a bunch of cities in the article that aren't exactly known for their strong gun laws.
nikolai_470000@reddit
Maybe that’s the point. Expanding into cities where outbreaks of armed violence between citizens and Feds could be more likely to occur so they can create more excuses to crack down even more.
It would not be that much of a stretch considering how so many other things they have been doing seem to be intentional escalations designed to do just that.
Even the fucking NYT is calling it out now, which honestly surprised me coming from them. It’s just an opinion article, but hell, their arguments in here mostly cover stuff from last month, and a whole bunch of further escalations have already occurred in the first week of this one. All signs seem to point to the idea that Trump and his admin have every intention to keep ramping things up.

Sooner or later they are going to grab up the wrong member of a heavily armed drug gang and it's going to go down.
nikolai_470000@reddit
I agree, something like that is surely one way it might go. I won’t deign to guess on any specifics, though. Whatever it is though, I have a high degree of confidence in the fact that this admin will attempt to use it to add more fuel to the fire.
DukeOfGeek@reddit
Look at how the nation wide narrative was "Our agents got boxed in by ten Antifa vehicles and we had to shoot our way out" when the reality was they rammed some lady who was outing them and shot her. At least a judge cut her loose and a few people are getting the real story but millions will remember only the lies.
nikolai_470000@reddit
Yeah, you’re right. It’s horrifying and outrageous at the same time. Unfortunately, acting on those things might in fact just contribute to giving this admin what it wants. I don’t pretend to know the future, but with each passing day it seems harder to see how we find our way out of this as a nation without things getting a lot worse first.
DukeOfGeek@reddit
The next No Kings protest is going to be a real sign. Hopefully largest turnout in history. There are a bunch of ultra rich who are getting ultra richer off trumpo D. clown but they are not going to go up against 2 thirds of the country for him and that's the math we have to show them.
carlitospig@reddit
That’s how I would describe Sand Point. Great little hippie oasis in the middle of redneck land. But yah, they’re the ‘don’t tread on me’ hippies, actual old school libertarians. If they’re at all alike, I don’t see this ending well.
Wolf_Oak@reddit
I'm assuming this is just the first round of cities they're trying to set up offices in; ICE certainly has the money. But is there something about these cities that they would go first? Are they sanctuary cities? Upcoming mayor elections? Close to larger field offices? College towns?
ThrowawayRage1218@reddit
From the complete list in the article, it's blue cities surrounded by red/purple areas. My guess is surround and outnumber anyone who would resist using both ICE agents and local volunteers.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
The major E-W interstates that connect Portland and Seattle to the rest of the US run through us and despite our “liberal by comparison” existence (which is true), we’re better hubs to try subjugate. Boise has the ICE volunteer of our suburbs, Spokane has the CDA metro area just across the border, and that’s a far worse prospect.
Devmoi@reddit
These aren’t really “liberal” cities though are they? I mean, East Washington and Idaho are pretty red.
ThrowawayRage1218@reddit
Red state!=red city. The rest of the article listed blue cities in red or purple states (mostly red, but Pittsburgh and Raleigh were also on there). It sounds to me like they're trying to establish "office space" in more liberal cities so that between themselves and locals in nearby areas they'd have any resistors surrounded and out numbered/outgunned.
Former-Fly-4023@reddit
Boise is liberal leaning especially the heart of it. It’s a hub for refugee resettlement with many thriving refugee communities. They’ve been listed and delisted as a sanctuary city. Mayor is female and progressive, very aggressive clean energy goals & policies, and they fly the pride flag as an official flag in front of the City Hall. Of course, that’s pissed off the rest of the state. So, a couple targets on Boise. It ain’t Portland, but liberal enough to catch the eye of this admin.
Eric_Durden@reddit
Those cities are liberal in the sense that they're larger and slightly less insane than the outlying areas around them.
Magickarpet76@reddit
For those who didn’t see it, Miller said today live on CNN that the president has “plenary authority” to use the national guard and military on US soil in response to judicial roadblocks. He clearly did not intend to say it, but he did.
Buckle up. This is just getting started.
AnomalyNexus@reddit
idk given trajectory this seems more like fait accompli.
Trump takes a step towards dictatorship, various people note in stern voice that what he did is not allowed. Rinse & repeat.
Magickarpet76@reddit
I think there is still hope, and I am not just talking about elections. I do think they overestimated the level of grassroots support they would have through all of this. For example the shutdown messaging obviously worked for his base, but their support is wavering. Even anecdotally Trump supporters I know have grown icy and started getting uncomfortable with the economy and his authoritarian rhetoric.
I also think what Curtis Yarvin said on Monday was a good sign with him getting scared this is too performative and not working well with public backlash. Apparently he is looking to flee the country.
thefedfox64@reddit
I don't agree. We have till 2026 for midterms. If we can last. The President is saying the economy is good up until the shutdown, now it will come crashing down on any chance for a "blue" movement. Every job loss, bad report - everything will be thrown at one side's feet as there fault. And people will lap it up, because they are scared.
Scared of rising prices, scared of losing their job, and things just collapsing. And collapse they will. Maybe this time it will start in automotive, they've been overblown recently with neg equity, people just walk away and buy a 100K 2014 Honda Civic for $8K and let go the $55K 1500 or Ram or w/e.
The President will white knight this entire thing by artificially "fixing" the economy by lowering rates. "Ohh, let's lower them, we are good for another 1 to 1.5 years." Then again, and again until the end? Or well, maybe not the end, because by 2027 the talk won't be anything but 22nd. 22nd, 22nd, 22nd - need to declare about the 22nd

Seriously. Eastern WA is infamously republican. Spokane may lean more purple, but I would never describe it as liberal.
Maybe the feds know Spokane wouldn't erupt in comparison to, say, Seattle.
shitpostcatapult@reddit
Exactly. They're afraid.
gdim15@reddit
I see it more as the next step. Get the masses used to troops in purple cities while still going after blue ones. Then begin going after red cities. You can't say you have control of a country without troops in every city.
Individual-Engine401@reddit

Wheres_my_wank_sock@reddit
Boise is extremely liberal. It is awesome to visit. Great night life, huge art culture, safe city, mountains for skiing, hot springs, and it's absolutely gorgeous. It was the fastest growing city in the US for a while. Sucks it's in Idaho. I have in laws there and would love to live there if it wasn't for Idaho politics.
Unusual_Specialist@reddit
Lol, Boise isn’t liberal — it’s moderate. But if you ask the far-right nut jobs in the surrounding areas, they’ll swear it’s liberal.
faco_fuesday@reddit
Yeah Boise isn't even purple. It's very slightly lighter red than the surrounding areas
Former-Fly-4023@reddit
It’s definitely purple. Heart of Boise is Liberal AF and it goes purple then red in its outskirts.
faco_fuesday@reddit
Can you define what you mean by liberal?
HommeMusical@reddit
Here in Europe, liberal means "center right"! In a nutshell, it means the idea that "regulated capitalism" is the way to glory, which well describes a lot of American liberals.
Former-Fly-4023@reddit
There’s a spectrum within each party. Many American liberals actually lean democratic socialist.
HommeMusical@reddit
That makes them democratic socialist and not liberal, then!
Former-Fly-4023@reddit
But, alas we’re a two party government. In the United States, democratic socialists are typically considered to be on the far-left end of the liberal spectrum, but they hold positions that are distinct from mainstream American liberalism. Sorry it’s not as cut and dry as you’d like.
HommeMusical@reddit
It would be easier if instead of defining "liberal" to mean "anything not far right", you used the standard definition that everyone else uses.
When I lived in the United States, I never called myself a liberal, and neither did any of the other socialists, anarchists, and communists I knew during my time there. You need to get out more.
Parties are not mentioned in the Constitution or officially a part of the structure of government. To be more accurate, you have first-past-the-post voting system with two entrenched parties, as such systems tend toward.
Just because a person ends up voting for candidates from the Democratic party, doesn't make them a "liberal".
Don't tar all these good people with the loser liberal brush.
Former-Fly-4023@reddit
For purposes of this dialogue, I mean that the core of Boise city proper (not its county of Ada) is liberal, or voted blue. Factually, the center of Boise is blue. It turns purple, then red as you move further from the center. The overall vibe of Boise is liberal/progressive and it pisses off the rest of Idaho.
Unusual_Specialist@reddit

Well that’s what I would have said about Boise last week too. Idaho’s governor has his nose so far up Trumps ass.
Chief_Mischief@reddit
Trump won't have to deploy the Fed. Abbott is drooling at the idea of deploying the TX national guard against his own cities.
Such-Trust3509@reddit
You think so ?
carlitospig@reddit
Did you see what Paxton is up to? Go do a Google.
derek4reals1@reddit
Absolutely!
derek4reals1@reddit
Oh absolutely!
Chief_Mischief@reddit
Don't know if he would actually do so, but there is zero doubt in my mind that he would willingly deploy state law enforcement and national guard units to oppress his own state before Trump even considers committing federal resources.
Aegongrey@reddit
They’re trying to lock down key areas to gain control over resources and infrastructure - power plants and waterways. Black rock just bought our local power company and wants to build a 23 acre data center.
grummanae@reddit
... going as I planned I figured soon as they hit some east coast places and Chicago they will start going after smaller liberal cities
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
Protest organizers here (Boise) have been expecting we’d be on the list. Reliably red state with only rather isolated blue city and a few very small blue towns (Sun Valley). We’re also on the main highway in and out of southern Oregon. Spokane could cut off western Washington. And no shortage of “undesirables” to round up. We’ve been preparing to oppose and disrupt.
grummanae@reddit
I figured Chicago Then Seatac / Portland
Unnamed southern city ( New Orleans volunteered ) Then Minneapolis
After Minneapolis I figure Denver ....
Then its on to small time cities
woollinthorpe@reddit
SF is hosting the Super Bowl. Gonna get weird.
grummanae@reddit
That was on the round 2 list
Velo214@reddit
They are trying to find less passive less peaceful protesters. Men that don't like their privacy and rights thrown in the trash in subservience to masked thugs and federal lapdogs. They know they want to poke some bears. The libs aren't fighting back like they make them seem
Individual-Engine401@reddit
These comments are sickening to read. Who fucking cares what color Spokane Idaho or Boise is. THIS IS AMERICA! We should NOT have troops or masked ICE in our cities towns county’s anywhere in our country. This bullshit needs to stop. Fuck this
Beginning_Self896@reddit
Why the obsession with the North West?
Are they trying to spur the right wing lunatics in Idaho?
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
Likely. But also, I-84 runs through Boise to Portland, the only true E-W interstate in Oregon. I-90 in Spokane is the only E-W interstate into Washington north of the Snake River plain. Boise and Spokane are both decent sized cities with good infrastructure. If you wanted to isolate Portland and Seattle from the rest of the US they’d be great bases of operation.
Beginning_Self896@reddit
Good points. But why the obsession with Portland and Seattle?
Maybe the goal is to surround CA.
Gloom_Pangolin@reddit (OP)
The PNW is symbolically the “radical Marxist” capital of the US in propaganda. But also, the west coast of the continental US is held by three states; the Atlantic coast and Gulf of Mexico is spread across 18. Say CA put up a fight? To also lose Portland and Seattle, or at least struggle in them? You’ve lost the entire Pacific port infrastructure.
ddesideria89@reddit
Creeping occupation. The real deal move will be closer to elections.
Dystopianistically@reddit
Assuming elections aren't cancelled, they will confiscate ballots. We're headed for total disaster
all-day-pj@reddit
And by then it will have infiltrated too far for anyone to do anything about it. The power of the slow boil.
stars_llama1@reddit
more cops means more donuts right for sure
mongooser@reddit
Famous liberal bastion, Boise
Former-Fly-4023@reddit
You mean the Boise that flies the pride flag as an official flag, refugee hub with thriving communities, (until recently) targeted sanctuary city, 100% clean electricity goals to be met within next 8 years. I mean, doesn’t exactly jive with this administration’s stated goals, or the rest of Idahos for that matter.
truth_is_power@reddit
Speak up quickly and figure out which friends will drop everything to come to help you.
figure out which of your friends are willing to show up and know who carries. Get a group chat or two going and be ready to take action.
Every video i've seen where ICE was defeated, people yelled and collected a large group of citizens to pay attention and turn the heat up.
only 1-5 people need to be actively in the front lines, just having a large crowd can scare them away.
IF they're in a full military deployment, calling the police and elected officals to show up, the press, your local church.
Zerg rushing is the safest option before it becomes a shooting war.
just from my observations of videos.
If it's just you and ICE....run. Do anything to get away. Get in your car and don't stop until you're safe.
They want to be 5-10 against 1 so they can curb stomp you and parade you like a criminal.
squeezymarmite@reddit
Everyone should just start dressing like ICE.
ExRays@reddit
This is MASSIVE abuse of federal power. What goes around comes around, MAGA.
