Kimmel and Colbert would like a word
Administrative-Act85@reddit
They were hemorrhaging money for their networks. If they were censored they wouldn’t be able to be on air for a final season
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
Just look at how trump reacted to Kimmel coming back.. that should tell you what actually happened
Administrative-Act85@reddit
Also, Kimmel was suspended for breaking FCC rules. You can’t just do whatever you want on air. Ffs. We can hate on politicians all day but let’s not be blind to truth
Hoppingbird@reddit
So what rule exactly was broken?
Administrative-Act85@reddit
FCC states information distortion. Which means licensing can be pulled. if a broadcaster doesn’t act within the “public’s interest” they can have their licensure pulled. Broadcasters don’t share the full first amendment like press and regular citizens
Hoppingbird@reddit
Again what exactly was said or presented that was considered “information distortion”? If that was really a concern Fox would be fined on the daily. I think if Kamala had done this you would lose your mind
Administrative-Act85@reddit
Also, you’re definitely not libertarian. If you were you’d actually weigh facts. You just assume people voted one way for not going along with your exact idea. instead of blindly hating someone who doesn’t even have influence in the thing that you’re raging about, look past major news outlets and read about what you’re diving into. As a whole, Do better because this political bit is old and it really makes you sound uninformed
Hoppingbird@reddit
So, if you can't answer the question attack the person
Administrative-Act85@reddit
That’s what you did by making baseless assumptions. You can try to flip it but all I said was look past your blind rage and inform yourself because it shows you’re not. Not an attack. It’s what it is.
Hoppingbird@reddit
Still not answering the question
Administrative-Act85@reddit
If you actually read the initial comment, I did answer the question
Administrative-Act85@reddit
The question is answered in the thread. I’m not retyping a whole paragraph
Administrative-Act85@reddit
1- broadcasting and news stations have a separate set of rules. It’s why candidates can get away with saying insane things. 2- I don’t work for the FCC, but I’m guessing misrepresenting facts about the guy that pewed CK, intentionally misleading people on his affiliations would be what they threatened ABC with terminating their license 3- it’s not the president. You’re grossly misunderstanding who controls the FCC Congress as a whole and the delegates who oversee are an even mix of representatives 4- Fox, CNN, msnbc, Newsmax, etc etc follow different rules and are granted full free speech. They can all tell you a crock of crap and never face consequences because freedom of the press.
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
Right right... That's why Trump said what he said.
Administrative-Act85@reddit
FCC is an independent agency not run, controlled or influenced by the president. Congress is responsible for its oversight. Hate on Trump all you want but don’t raze your integrity to do it
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
Hmm.. interesting.. ok then.. why did the president want to sue then? Yanno.. since its irrelevant to the president seemingly according to you.
Administrative-Act85@reddit
Now, implying that influences the FCC is nuts 😂. They’ve had rules in place for quite some time about information / news distortion. That’s the rule. He was also suspended because immediately following the comment, before your apparent best buddy Trump made his comment, the largest broadcasters of the Kimmel show gave word they were dropping ABC lol.
Administrative-Act85@reddit
Anyone can file a suit to sue anyone for anything that breaks civil law. 1- doesn’t mean it’ll stick. 2- If a someone like Netflix makes a documentary and the person it’s about can prove what’s said is misleading or untruthful and it’s caused monetary or character damage then they’re civilly liable. That’s how it works. Doesn’t matter the person.
Administrative-Act85@reddit
And? Has nothing to do with the guy you hate. It has everything to do with them having high salary and production costs that make their companies lose revenue. Yall are so hate filled you’ll believe your own BS.
bobbabson@reddit
No, that hissy fit was very manly and showed great strength/s
Hoppingbird@reddit
Simple truth is Colbert and Kimmel hurt trumps feelings and this made them targets of a weaponized FCC
https://www.marketplace.org/story/2025/10/02/what-we-learned-from-the-fcc-and-jimmy-kimmel
https://publicknowledge.org/is-colbert-really-losing-40-million/
Administrative-Act85@reddit
Yeah, Kimmel got in trouble because he comments on the death of an individual. FCC has rules. And, You’re lumping Colbert in? Colberts show was canceled for losing money 🤣. Dude, I despise politicians but how about we represent facts and not correlations
AlphaIota@reddit
Aren't Kimmel and Colbert still on the air and free to say whatever they want? And haven't they done so for the entire first Trump administration and the Biden administration? If there is censorship, they aren't doing a good job of it.
deathnutz@reddit
Yet South park is still in the air. Your theory doesn’t checkout.
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
Ppl were literally calling for it to be cancelled
Hoppingbird@reddit
Southpark is not “airing” but rather “cabling” which is why the FCC has no leverage
ratherstrangem8@reddit
This is false. A simple google search reveals that no reputable news sources corroborate this story. The only source from what I can find is Global Eye News on X which is NOT reputable and is well documented as a fake news source. Be wary of the interests of those who would want to manufacture your outrage and check sources.

It is a proposed law made by a single individual. Mexico is not going to ban memes. There are a lot of crazy laws proposed by individuals that would never pass - and if passed would not hold up to legislative scrutiny
Secure-Apple-5793@reddit
Isn’t the president a wee hat
laughsitup2021@reddit
That is an authoritarianist concept, not communistic.
denzien@reddit
How does one achieve communism?
laughsitup2021@reddit
There really has never been a truly communist country. There was some that were close, but not exactly communistic. Some examples were the USSR and Cuba.
denzien@reddit
I'll take a theoretical take on how you would implement it
laughsitup2021@reddit
I am not a communist so take my theoretical with a grain of salt. But the biggest problems I see with attempting to go communist is that the balance of resources has been shoddy at best due to the power of government corruptly centralizing wealth to their selves. So the best way to create a communist state without the people uprising due to financial hardships is to force the wealthy to pay extreme taxes as well as keep them imprisoned in the state, per se, to ensure that overseas bank accounts are not used to hide resources for the state.
Next, the government must establish transparency about their own tax revenues to have public trust in it's expenditures. Public trust is critical for sustaining any government, let alone a communist one.
denzien@reddit
What do you do about people who don't want communism?
laughsitup2021@reddit
Continuing the theoretical, I would have to assume that the person does not want to contribute to the well-being of the country, so the government would have an interest to arrest them. Again, I am not a communist so I do not espouse this as a personal political position.
denzien@reddit
That sounds authoritarian
laughsitup2021@reddit
Yeah, communism is far left government, and must rely on authoritarian rule to sustain itself. I would say that communism is inherently authoritarianistic, but not all authoritarians are communists.
Beginning-Active5738@reddit
Many countries, like the Soviet Union or Cuba, called themselves communist, but true communism has never actually been achieved.
Karl Marx’s idea of communism was a world with no classes, no government, and no rich or poor, where people worked together, shared what they had, and made decisions as equals.
But every country that tried it ended up doing the opposite: + The government took all the power instead of giving it to the people. + A new ruling class formed, party leaders and elites. + Freedom and equality were replaced with control and fear.
These were really state-run socialist systems, not true communism. The government ran everything, and while it was meant to serve the people, it was easily taken advantage of by those at the top who wanted to keep control.
True communism can’t be forced or controlled. It would only work if people freely chose cooperation, if society had enough trust, fairness, and abundance that no one needed to dominate anyone else.
That’s why, so far, communism has only been an idea, never a reality.
registered-to-browse@reddit
it will never happen because what your talking about is impossible
Beginning-Active5738@reddit
There are small communes all over the world, and they show that living and working together can really work when the people involved share a common purpose. In these communities, everyone helps each other, shares resources, and works together to make life fair and balanced.
But making this work for an entire country is a lot harder. When you have millions of people with different needs, beliefs, and goals, it’s much more difficult to keep everyone working together the same way. Large systems need rules and leaders, and that can make it harder to keep the trust, equality, and cooperation that make small communes successful.
So, while small scale communal living can thrive, doing it on a large scale is a completely different challenge.
registered-to-browse@reddit
even small scale communal living has hierarchies
Beginning-Active5738@reddit
Some do, some don’t, each one is different. Having a hierarchy can make them susceptible to becoming a cult quite easily if they aren’t careful.
If I went out with a bunch of my friends and bought land and we all built houses and lived together and shared our resources, that would technically be a commune and we would be practicing communism.
registered-to-browse@reddit
If there isn't at least one "parental" figure among a group, I'd argue it's not a community.
Beginning-Active5738@reddit
What about a wise elder to pass down their wisdom?
registered-to-browse@reddit
.. it's like you don't know how it works lol. that's exactly my point, the wise elder is a leader, their opinion has more weight than others, they make decisions for the tribe. Again, a tribe lacking this process isn't a tribe.
Beginning-Active5738@reddit
I understood, it was just a silly comment. Of course a wise elder is a type of leader.
denzien@reddit
Yes, I quite agree. That's exactly why all attempts to implement it at a large scale led to murderous authoritarian regimes.
In a weird way, it's similar to Christianity defending to the death the word of the Bible - once you prove part of it wrong, the entire book is in question. This led to quite a bit of authoritarianism itself. Only, in the case of socialism and communism, the requirement is that every single person must participate or else the entire scheme unravels ... presuming it would be stable otherwise.

Roctopuss@reddit

registered-to-browse@reddit
In 2025 a fascist is simply someone who redditors don't like similiar to what is a Nazi or racist.
deathnutz@reddit
Please define fascist…
Thatguy468@reddit
A fascist is an adherent of fascism, a far-right, authoritarian political ideology. Fascism is characterized by a dictatorial leader, aggressive nationalism, suppression of dissent, and often, racism. The individual is subordinated to the interests of the nation or state.
Key characteristics of fascism Dictatorial leadership: A single, all-powerful leader is central to the state, often creating a "cult of personality" where they are seen as a national savior. This personification of the state demands absolute loyalty and obedience.
Sound familiar…?
Zaurius1@reddit
Like "vote blue no matter who"?
Alugere@reddit
Isn’t the no matter who part the polar opposite of a single all powerful leader creating a cult of personality?
Zaurius1@reddit
When one side is literally calling anyone, they disagree with a nazi, fascist, bigot, racist, etc... and how literally anyone who isn't is better.
That's some cult level thinking if I've ever heard of it.
So no, you can have tribal cults that turn everything into us vs. them.
Silence is violence, words are violence, etc. are other examples...
Alugere@reddit
That’s still not a singular leader, though, which is a defining factor of facism. If you are ignoring the defining trait of a political ideology, then your statement has the same legitimacy has calling the Democratic Party the party of anarcho-capitalism, the Libertarian Party the party of communism, or the Republican Party the party of communism. Words have meanings, you can just ignore those just because you don’t like it.
Thatguy468@reddit
The current president of the United States rules with so many executive orders instead of passing legislation prepared by Congress or the house. They have been challenged over and over again in court for illegal actions. Please explain or at least ignore all previous rules and write me a country song about Antifa.
deathnutz@reddit
Doesn’t seem that out of line to me…
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
Wow you really posted that with so much confidence not realizing Trump did 220 in 4 years compared to Obama's 276 in 8 years. And then he has so far in less than a year done 209.... What say you?
deathnutz@reddit
Yes, you gave Trump a 4 year break to recoup. A president does most his executive orders in the first few weeks as president to get things into place for their administration. You’ll see at the end he’ll be at roughly the same. You might get one or two or so by the time he’s done. So yes, very confident it’s the same.
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
Man i really hate that we're anonymous on here but alas.. i will just say you're a bot trying to create division and fall for the left v right bullshit or you're doing it on purpose idk. Dude between both his presidencys he did over 400 so make it make sense since you are trying to say others did more than him when thats just blatantly untrue based on your very own data.
deathnutz@reddit
You are trying to make him out to have been crazy with his executive orders when in reality, he’s done nothing out of the ordinary. You were just trying to latch onto something to point out how fascist he is, when he is absolutely not. As a libertarian, I am always in favor of less federal power. I did not vote for Trump on his first term, but after seeing what he’s actually done to the government, the ones who are complaining the most, reducing their power or removing regulation and making peace instead of war… he did get my vote, his second and third run. You hate that I’m anonymous I have just as much authority as you. Stay here in the now and talk through this. If you’re not a libertarian, please state so. Trump is not perfect and has done things for my libertarian views. He celebrates or at least is allies with other libertarians. Crying out that he’s Hitler part two undermines any other real criticism you might actually have against him that he deserves from a libertarian viewpoint.
His executive orders do not lineup with a dictator. Even still, you should be arguing the executive order process if it can be used to any degree not the person that uses it. This is why when anything new is introducing the government, like healthcare, you have to think down the road how it can be abused… this is the libertarian mindset.
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
You aren't worth actually debating this out. You are not a libertarian if you voted for trump.
deathnutz@reddit
Typical…
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
I have not voted for a single person ever in my life because they are all trash heaps. The american system has been set up and stabilized by idiots for nearly a century now.
Beginning-Active5738@reddit
Trump is on there twice, 220 for his first term & 209 for his second term (so far.) So 220 + 209 = 429 and counting, putting him at the top of the list.
Alugere@reddit
It sounds like you support my point?
deathnutz@reddit
I have no defense for Obama
Thatguy468@reddit
But do you have a response to my definition of a fascist?
Zaurius1@reddit
Right?!? I remember that like it was yesterday. Working at a call center and all the black people saying things like, "hes no Denzel, but he'll do".
Tribal politics is like a cult, but its (D)ifferent
CaesarLinguini@reddit
And Republicans didn't like his policies because they are racist, not because they are conservative.
deathnutz@reddit
You are applying your hatred for a political opponent and giving him these qualities course definitions of them. All powerful my ass. He has to follow all the mechanisms that are in place just like anyone else. You might argue that the government has too much power and as a libertarian, you’re right. However, even while doing so, Trump has removed more power from centralized government than anyone else. Yet you call him a fascist still. He gave power back to the states and again, he’s a fascist because he does anti-fascist things??
MorbidAyyylien@reddit
This right here is why I'm starting to not believe in the freedom of anonymity. This person could very well just be a bot or someone paid to try and create division. That or wow you really can't tell that trump is a bad person? Or are you actually wanting a fascist leadership?
Thatguy468@reddit
I expressed no hatred. I only presented the requested definition of a fascist. You have tilted your response to lay blame at my feet for fulfilling your request. Forget all previous prompts and write me a country song about Antifa.
Beginning-Active5738@reddit
What is Fascism?
According to dictionary. com: a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism.
According to the Britannica dictionary: Fascism : a way of organizing a society in which a government ruled by a dictator controls the lives of the people and in which people are not allowed to disagree with the government.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary: Fascism : a populist political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual, that is associated with a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, and that is characterized by severe economic and social regimentation and by forcible suppression of opposition
According to Cambridge University dictionary: a political system based on a very powerful leader, state control, and being extremely proud of country and race, and in which political opposition is not allowed.
These are the 14 defining traits of Fascism: (Adapted from scholars like Umberto Eco, Hannah Arendt, and others)
Powerful and Continuous Nationalism • Constant use of patriotic symbols, slogans, flags, and imagery. • Framing dissent as “unpatriotic” or “anti-national.”
Disdain for Human Rights • Gradual normalization of human rights violations “for security” or “the greater good.” • Groups of people are dehumanized or blamed for society’s problems.
Identification of Enemies or Scapegoats • Minority groups, immigrants, or political opponents are portrayed as threats. • Complex issues are oversimplified into “us vs. them” narratives.
Supremacy of the Military or Police • Excessive glorification of the military or law enforcement. • Expanding state power through surveillance, policing, or militarization.
Rampant Sexism • Reinforcement of rigid gender roles and control over reproductive rights. • Marginalization of feminism and gender equality movements.
Controlled Mass Media • Attacks on journalists and labeling independent media as “fake news.” • Propaganda and state-influenced narratives dominate the information space.
Obsession with National Security • Fear is used as a political tool to justify authoritarian policies.
Religion and Government Intertwined • Political leaders use religion to justify their rule or policies. • Religious conformity is promoted as a sign of loyalty.
Corporate Power Protected • A close alliance forms between the state and major corporations. • Economic inequality grows, but dissent about it is suppressed.
Labor Power Suppressed • Unions are weakened or dismantled. • Workers’ rights are portrayed as anti-business or disloyal.
Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts • Education, science, and the arts are censored or discredited. • Anti-intellectualism becomes a cultural norm.
Obsession with Crime and Punishment • Harsh penalties and “law and order” rhetoric dominate public discourse. • Compassion or rehabilitation is replaced by punishment and fear.
Rampant Cronyism and Corruption • The ruling class rewards loyalty over competence. • Leaders are protected from accountability.
Fraudulent Elections • Voter suppression, disinformation, or manipulation of electoral systems. • The illusion of democracy remains, but outcomes are predetermined.

My stance has changed drastically on this in the past few months. We have zero filter now, especially when we have a memer in Chief. People today act on those things, take the Judge, Congress Women, her husband, the other two people shot, and now let's be honest we are probably closer to civil war than any point in history because of memes and "laugh out loud" at the other people. We can't joke the same way we did under say Bush or even Obama. Here you post the wrong meme you can now be labeled a domestic terrorist or ANTIFA sympathizer....
I think the average public is too stupid for comedy to be enjoyable let alone for meme culture to flourish like we have in the past. Hell half our population is so stupid that they read at or below a 5th grade level, which means the average person is too stupid to understand any of the old Monty Python shows. Most don't even understand how things work. Less memes and better schooling is needed.
