Visiting Plano

Lived in Plano and around the area all my life. I moved out of state in 2015 and haven't been back since. What's new and exciting in town that you'd recommend to visitors. Where to you take family when they come in to town.

I have a house worth about $500k in the neighborhood sandwhiched between plano senior high and vines highschool. Lets make a deal and trade. I gotta get out of here!

No street lights yet during your absence. Roads construction everywhere. New massage parlors opened and damn the summer is very long it seems it never ends here . Other than that, people are still very chilled out and friendly . The is the only positive thing other than that it was a great decision to move out nothing exciting and to explore here.

Texas summers was one of the reasons I left. 30 years was enough.

My brother moved north of Atlanta & his weather is way better than Dallas. I envy that.

It's not hard to beat, but I do miss the rain and especially the thunderstorms

Lucky you getting out of Plano!

I like it much better where I am now.
SaturnNews@reddit
Where did you end up?
elastic-cat@reddit (OP)
Reno. 4 seasons, no humidity, no mosquitoes, Tahoe. Bruh.
Conscious-Tiger-5912@reddit
I came here from Reno lol.
Its great but it will leave you wanting more, maybe its cause I spent most of my younger years there... Tahoe is beautiful year round but be very careful when its winter. You have a lot of people who drive like its California (or now as im noticing like texas) and I cant tell you the amount of horror stories from fatal car accidents due to the black ice.
In regards to food though, you have to try lucky beaver on Virginia, lakeside bar and grill on Moana, and urban deli on s virgina (this one is by far one of my favorites)

Lol I've been here for 10 years. Lucky Beaver ftw!

So depending on your age and interests, just over Plano’s northwest border with The Colony is Grandscape, which is a sprawling development that has all sorts of restaurants, an adventure park, a huge Ferris wheel, Andretti indoor karts/games, Great Big Gameshow, a ginormous sporting goods extravaganza store, the Truck Yard (food trucks and live music), a putt putt bar, and probably a bunch of stuff I haven’t been to. In Plano, there’s the Legacy West area of shopping and restaurants; and the not-new Shops at Legacy area of shopping and restaurants. Also not new, but for outdoor activities, there’s Arbor Hills Nature Preserve on the west side and Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve in the east. I think there’s a zip line park out there, too.
elastic-cat@reddit (OP)
TC all grown up lol. I always like Arbor Hills. Great recommendations.thanks!
Delicious_Hand527@reddit
Grandscape is way overpriced and all the restaurants are terrible, but for expensive overpriced chains they beat Red Lobster and Chilis.

They got chicken fried chicken?
Deafdogsrock100@reddit
Their menu is online. That’s all they serve mainly is chicken. We like the chicken sandwich with pimento and of course, chicken and waffles.

Mike’s Chicken
FabulousBullfrog9610@reddit
Nothing. The only place we ever take anyone is the Dallas Arboretum. DFW is not a destination!!
Crashwaffle0@reddit
Roots in Legacy hall has a really good fried chicken sandwich. One of my favorites.

I think the libraries might be having the buy a bag of books sale until the 10th (selection does slim down, but always fun). There are a few new malls (Legacy West, Grandscape, etc). Arboretum isn't new but is always nice in fall. I'm not sure how new they are, but there's some gaming cafes that look pretty cool. Libraries and historic sites are usually fun to see.
Springaloe@reddit
Mike’s chicken is not in Plano but not far. It’s very good fried chicken. Maybe OP has already tried it in the past.
