In 2013, I saw a Silver Jaguar XJ220 at a high-end car mechanic just outside Toronto, Canada. They said it's the one that Angelina Jolie drove in "Gone in 60 Seconds". In 2005, I saw a Yellow Ferrari Enzo at the border crossing from Canada to the US.

McLaren 600lt Segestria Borealis, one of twelve. If you wanna discount special livery cars like that, an Aston Martin Vulcan (16), 1x Reventon Coupe (20), 1x Reventon Roadster (20), and a Bugatti EB110 Super Sport (30) all within five minutes probably takes it. Yes, it was Supervettura.

And the all famous copper caddy from Dave kindig and bitchin rides ...what makes that even more super rare...I got a ride from Dave Kindig himself....ok it was only 25-30 ft...due to rain starting and Dave's show cars aren't allowed to be in rain of any form....but 30ft with the master himself.... opportunity of a lifetime.

View on Reddit #68048773

acousticsking@reddit

Nissan vehicles aren't awful. Their CVTs make them suck ass. Having a manual allows you to avoid the inevitable problems.
View on Reddit #68050560

AdditionalAddress809@reddit

It’s only a major problem when you have less than 2 forward gears , ideally one low and one high . Well ideally all the gears the car originally featured and whatever syncros the previous owner generously left for you.. Which is usually just enough for a not long enough test drive to hide a money shift or part of one. Not enough to blow it up but enough to knock the asking price from thousands to hundreds . But anyway 2nd and 4th has town and highways covered. 1st and 5th is a bit more of a challenge as steep hills mean steep clutch repair bills ( as if Nissan maxima and Altima owners actually fix things !) 1st and 2nd is don’t leave town. Unless it’s one way and google maps has “ nearest scrapyard “ as a destination. And if it involves a highway, learning firsthand how many minutes at redline a base model Nissan will last. The answer is probably not as many as a Toyota would do. But a CVT is just a fancy rubber band and the only upside is try as they might, Nissan owners haven’t been able to money shift a car that doesn’t shift but I’m sure they will find a way.

Or a FakeTaxi sticker . Ya im classy like that too but mines on a 3000GT VR4 so the extra comedy is the fact that the back seat is something between an afterthought or why even bother putting a backseat in it. I would get a back seat delete panel , it’s probably been in my Amazon cart for like over a year but then the sticker would lose all meaning. Or as close to meaning as one gets from driving a obscure sports car with FakeTaxi sticker.

AdditionalAddress809@reddit

The demolition derby secret applied to the one vehicle that always gets driven like urban streets are a 24/7 demolition derby anyway . Just with less rules. Which is like what don’t hit intentionally the drivers door? Even flat a donut tire is still about 80 percent combat effective. And so is a Nissan Altima or Maxima after driving over 2 curbs a day, graduating slowly to just plowing over lawns once the bumper is gone and you can see the radiator. If they were as easy to steal as Kia’s society would collapse Mad Max style. I’m already stocking up on donut tires..

I sold 2 of them in 2005 (both MY05). The first one I sold, when the buyer was in the finance office doing the paperwork, his new wife (about 1/2 his age) demanded that he title it in her name. She threw a big fit and basically said she’d divorce him if it wasn’t in her name only. He complied 😆 The second customer did a European delivery, then paid $40k-$50K to have the car flown back, instead of shipped. This saved 2-3 weeks. What’s crazy is that he had ordered it almost a year before, so it wasn’t like he was cutting a big chunk of time off from getting it in the US. Also, there was something with the exhaust pipes that automatically adjusted to make make it quieter at lower RPMs. He didn’t like that, so he asked if a technician could override the system. The general manager said no, but allowed him to use our service department and tools and have a technician show him how to do it. The GM was afraid of the liability. A few weeks later, he bought a ‘95 850CSI with about 5k miles on it. I think only 225 850CSIs were sold in the US, so it was actually more rare than the Carrera GT

There was a guy with a McClaren that would visit a neighbor. Used to see that once every few weeks (a 570 I think). The rarest I’ve seen on the road in the wild was a Ferrari F40 I saw on the road in Boulder in the early 90s. Rarest I’ve driven was Audi R8s. I drove them a couple of times on a track, and had them to drive for a day on the road a couple of times. The track was a tight road course with short straights. Top speed there was around 80mph before hard braking to go into a carousel turn. Got up to near 80 before hard braking for a hairpin turn into the finish too.

View on Reddit #68103110

Debate_More@reddit

It depends on the kit, but yes. The good kits (like factory 5) are completely designed from scratch and only look like the original from the outside. They have a full tubeframe they designed and made in house, and you can go even further with independent suspension, etc. You can choose whatever engine you want. The popular ones are 427 crate motors and modern cyote engines. It just depends on what you want from the build, authenticity or a modern driving experience with old styling.
View on Reddit #68031675

General_Joop@reddit

I’m no cobra expert but usually there will be a badge or two from the kit somewhere on the car. Interior might be a little off. As for the engine it really depends on what people want. Some people go 427, I’ve see coyotes, even saw a voodoo

I worked at a winery owned by a weirdo with a kit Shelby. We had Cobra themed wines and a release party annually where we had a car show. Authentic Shelby Cobras would show up plus a fair amount of kits and other classic cars. Parked mostly on the crush pad where we made wine, during harvest, which does not stop. So fun pulling samples from tanks and doing pump overs next to a car that is with more than a decade of my salary. Was always surprised ppl parked near the tanks with their kits and real Cobras. Would include pics if I could, not doing the link thing. Best was the year the owner started up his kit Cobra while it was in gear. He was standing outside of it and not sober. It took off and plowed into a handicapped sign and drove over it, getting stuck on top of the bent sign and pole. Weird times.

I've probably seen rarer cars than below in the Bubblecar Museum or Tank Museum, but it sticks in my mind more. When I was learning to drive a guy in my city owned a Delorean and I saw it parked on the street a few times. Not seen it in about 15 years though.

**In Japan in 1996/1997, I saw the missing/stolen Ferrari F40 that Vin-Wiki did an episode on. I was serving in the military when I saw it circling a small residential area about 2 hours outside of Tokyo. I was on a footbridge when it drove under it, so I got a great look at it. I remember it sounded amazing.** [**https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3\_KATqtG94**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3_KATqtG94)

The kinda rare: Series 1 Ferrari 250 GTO... have seen all but 3 of the surviving cars (there were 33 built).. The much rarer: Porsche 917/30... there were only two factory built examples (have seen both of them, as well as a couple more that were put together from the spare parts). The rarest of the rare: Chaparral 2J... probably a few other one of one sort of cars I've seen, but this is the one I'd say that really stands out.

I was in Switzerland in the alps this summer for a field school course and was sitting at some roadside cafe in the mountains and spotted an Audi Quattro group b car hauling ass up the road beside me. Unfortunately not sure which model it was due to the fact that it was moving so quickly, but it was definitely extremely cool to see. It was going easily twice the speed of all of the motorcycles and other fast cars I had seen going past. Best part was the sound it made, the majority of the noise was just turbos and a big whoosh as it went past. Not sure if this helps anyone to figure out which model it was but it was white and yellow colour scheme with a big wedge shaped front splitter covered in lights and a big ass wing on the back.

I had a '76 Mustang II, baby blue, original stereo and interior, with a rebuilt motor. I LOVED that car. It did need work frequently, but was mostly reliable and a beast. It was my "side car" for fun while I had a daily driver I used every day. And absolutely F' my ex husband. I let him use it on the side in an emergency to go to work for a couple weeks. Idiot didn't understand that when an oil light comes on it's something that immediately needs checked out. Oil can burn in the older cars. Check them. If it's a one-time thing, okay. If it's low, you add oil, and a couple days later you need to add oil again, there's a problem that needs investigated. It's not rocket-science. Oil pan gasket, usually something simple. Nope, he ignored it. Didn't tell me even though I told him I'd been working on cars since high school. Locked up my motor.

I was working on a house in Pebble beach , can’t say who the customer was (partial owner of big hotel chain) I had to sign for the delivery of the car and later that day he came home. He said lets to go for a drive. Had no plate or registration just the title and bill of sale. He drove it for about a half hour then said you want to drive it back. Hesitantly I took up the offer. I live on the Monterey Peninsula year-round, so every day there’s a good chance of seeing something interesting. Car week (actually 10 days) affords a guarantee of interesting overload. 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO chassis 3765, by far the most valuable car I’ve ever seen (while bodywork was being done to it by a friend of mine). I thought that was the most rare I’d ever see. Then last summer my wife told me to come and check out this car parked across the street from our house. It was a 1963-65 Ferrari 330. I was chuffed because I’d never seen one in person, not the most beautiful car, but interesting nonetheless. My wife said “It’s a Ferrari Cobra”. I said, “Honey, Ferrari doesn’t make the Cobra, that’s Shelby”. She said “The sign in the back of the car says it is” (there was a standup like you would have at a car show that declared it a Ferrari-Cobra 330). After a quick Google search I learned that Ferrari made 3 Ferrari-Cobra 330s in a joint effort between Ferrari and Shelby. The owner happens to be my neighbor (not his home, his office) and the other 2 were owned by Saddam Hussein’s sons Uday and Husay and are presumed destroyed. Valuable as the 250? Probably not, but more rare and every bit as interesting.

Toyota Mirai. I live in Edmonton, so I have actually seen a few different ones. There's a hydrogen station pilot project down by the airport, so sometimes executives and businesspeople get driven from downtown to the airport in them. I live just off the main southern route out of downtown, so saw them in traffic, and my workplace (downtown parking garage) will often have 1 or 2 parked on the lowest level.

Had a Shelby VIN and everything, but I have no idea if it was just a clone or something weird and one-off that they just ended up with. A couple of examples: My dad and I used to be involved in our local Oldsmobile club. I guy in the club had a '69 442 W30 convertible (one of 121). Of those 121, he had one of two that were custom colors (blank paint tags). Of those two, he had the one that was Rally Green. Fully documented car. I saw the car at a show this past weekend - unfortunately, I didn't see the owner around, so I couldn't catch up with him. The other: I started my career at the Subaru factory in Indiana in 2008. The high-performance model we made at the time was the Legacy GT Spec B. Only about 500 per year in just a couple of colors offered and black interiors. In 2008, the sales division wanted to test public opinion on a new color. So, we made two pre-production (saleable, road legal) Spec B's in fire engine red with tan interiors. After a couple years as manager pool cars, they eventually got autioned off. So, somewhere out there are two 2008 Subaru Legacy Spec B's in fire engine red and tan interiors.

This was 15 or so years ago so I don't remember why but they were pulling all the cars out for some reason. Murcielago, GT3, Lotus Elise, Corvette and the F40. They let us sit in all the cars too. Super awesome dudes, I was too young and star struck but wish I would have got their contact info or something If you remember that and are reading this THANKS!!!!

The NISMO GT-R LM Road Car. Nissan wanted to enter the 96' LeMans in GT class, so they had to meet homologation rules at the time, which was that they had to make at least one road going version of the car they wished to enter. So they did. They made exactly one. It's not some weird paint job, or trim level that makes it 1 of 1... they completely re-did the bodywork around the doors, widened it, and converted it to RWD.

A Viper from the last model year. State of the art at the time. The owner was tracking it at a Porsche track day. I have never wanted a car so much.

When I was in HS in the late 80s, there was someone in town that had one of those. Used to see it running around occasionally.

Another memory triggered. When I was just out of high school there was a rich kid running around town in a Renault R5 Turbo 2. Not all that rare globally, but there's only a handful of them in the US.

The one I detailed I got to drive from the back of his house, down the alley and around to the front. This was in 2003 IIRC, it was a '78 and only had about 1900 miles on it. Last I heard it was heading to Reno to be on display there.

I went to a private high school so the parking lot didn't have your usual collection of beaters that populate most schools? But when I was a sophomore, one of the senior's his dad had a number of car dealerships? So for senior day he drove to school in a Ferrari Enzo. It was the reddest car I've ever seen. I'm not a Ferrari guy myself, but it was cool AF.

That may be the Troll. It was a Norwegian attempt at making a compact car in the late 1950s based on a Gutbrod chassis and drivetrain. Only 4 Troll cars were completed officially. All of these still exist. I have seen two of them in museums. The other two are privately owned. There are supposed to be two more cars. There does not seem to be a consensus about the 5th car. The 6th car was built by a bus driver who bought parts from the manufacturer after the operation was shut down in 1958. It was registered in 1961. It is now owned by the car club Street Cars Lunde. In 2016 a 7th car bas built by a group of engineering students, using the original body moulds from the factory, but as a convertible as the roof mould was missing. This body is mounted to a VW Beetle chassis. It once appeared on our local cars and coffee meet.
