Yeah, I remember reading she has an overbearing mother who is with Thora during productions. Most directors and actors loved working with her, but not dealing with her mom.
Her father was the driving force behind getting her fired from an Off-Broadway revival of Dracula back in 2010. He reportedly threatened another actor for rubbing her back. Important to note that this was staging given by the director, not just the actor deciding himself to randomly touch her off stage or out of context of the play
I’m pretty sure Blueshammer was in the audience with me when I saw this in the theater (Laemmle’s Sunset 5). This group of people just went absolutely nuts at that part.
I feel you. That line and joke of a band are two of the most enduring thoughts I have from any movie. I’ve seen my share of blueshammers in my day and it’s always so funny to me.
She was so attractive in Ghostworld. I was really surprised that she didn’t blow up into a bigger name in Hollywood. Also this was the first thing I ever saw Scarlett Johansen in. She had a lot of gravitas. I remember thinking “this girl is going to be big”.
It’s amazing how it speaks to you at that age when you’re seeing it and identifying with Enid, compared to a few years later where you feel more like Rebecca, and a decade or two down the line where you look around your apartment and realize you’ve become Seymour. I’ve seldom been able to grow with a piece of media like I have with Ghost World. That’s why it’s my favorite.
ScarJo becoming a huge star (with her flat affect and robotic line delivery) while Thora remained relatively obscure was an early indication that we were in The Worst Timeline.

yep. horrible movie and it's one of my all time faves.
I love this movie so much! I scrolled down to see if someone would mention it. I’ve been searching for it on streaming services and YouTube to no avail.

I watched this movie religiously because of her.
It's always a little weird seeing child stars as adults, especially when they're trying to look sexy. Like, it's hard to look at her "yabos" and not think of the little girl saying "Max likes your yabos".
