Giulia Quad and it doesn’t matter that it’s at the end of its life cycle
View on Reddit #67636448

KeldyPlays@reddit

I just glazed the Giulia in a different thread a few days ago. Rented one on turo for a bit and omg did I love that car. I've been in just about everything from when I worked at a used high end dealer. Supra, maybachs, amg, fucking lambos and rolls. That Giulia is something special. And one of our contractors has had one for years with no issues pushing 130k ish. I'd love one for myself.
View on Reddit #67640747

PanicDry@reddit

I own the 4 cylinder 2.0T non quad version of the Giulia. It isn't bonkers like the quad and way cheaper to maintain but it's by far the best car I've ever driven and it will probably be in my garage the rest of my life. It's right quick and the steering and handling is almost telepathic. I can only imagine what the quad is like.

Far_Grass_785@reddit

Did you drive the Quadrifoglio or the 4 cylinder?
View on Reddit #67647146

Ego-Death@reddit

If you get a higher level trim on the four-cylinder, it’s basically the Quad without the expensive carbon, fiber, exterior bits, electronically, adjusting suspension, and TwinTurbo, V-6. That said, tuners have discovered I can push 400 hp with a hybrid, turbo, and a tune. There’s even videos on the Internet of a guy working with I think it was squadra or jb4 I hate soaking the engine to stress test one of the early tunes. TLDR: If you have the money by the quad. If you want something more reliable with less expensive, annual maintenance, get the four-cylinder because you can tune it up to comparable performance. Even the four-cylinder has incredible handling you would literally have to spend over $80,000 to buy a better handling four-door.
View on Reddit #67650079

Far_Grass_785@reddit

Do you know if those tunes affect the reliability of the 4 cylinder?
View on Reddit #67650596

Ego-Death@reddit

Any kind of tune that pushes more horsepower out of an engine will affect reliability. What is reliable to you? Could you drive this thing for another five years only doing regular maintenance? Probably. Will it guzzle gas more than it did before? Probably. A lot of times these aftermarket houses will take a very conservative approach and tune, a test mule in stages, bumping up the power a little bit each time to develop their finished product. Because the four-cylinder requires so few supporting mods to achieve what’s currently out there makes it easy to access for consumers. The great part about tuning modern cars is everything is so electronic. You can usually deactivate the tune with an app on your button so you don’t have to run it the whole time.

4 cylinder not the quad. From what I've read the quads are money pits. I have no experience anecdotal or otherwise regarding the quads. I only know a couple people woth the 4 cylinder and the one I had on turo for a week was a four cylinder.
View on Reddit #67649245

Slumberjack08@reddit

See all i've ever heard is that the 4 cylinder is an excellent, reliable, and sporty luxury sedan, while the quad is a money burning psychopathic basket case(like a real alfa romeo lol)
View on Reddit #67647844

Sukpreme@reddit

Have a 2024 Quad and its such an amazing car. Great ride, super fast, amazing handling. The interior is great, but infotainment and drive settings are lacking a bit. Can definitely be a money pit if you're not prepared though. Both local Alfa dealers quoted me $750 for *just an oil change* lol. Oh yeah, reliability isn't an issue like all the "Alfa Romeo" expects here on reddit claim. The stock battery sucks and causes issues so get a better replacement and there very reliable.
View on Reddit #67652091

Bryce804@reddit

Your first paragraph is my experience with my 24. I did my first oil change myself at home, not cheap but less then 200 total. The serpentine belt at 30k is the truly expensive maintenance.

I would have to agree since I have been driving one since March. I love that car. My husband doesn't get my attachment to the car. It gets washed weekly, interior done ever 2 weeks. I have driven cars with lots of HP over the years. My dad has always been a collector of cars. He has a Mustang that he had some work done to it. HP is now around 850 in that. Amongst some others. Blackwing though is like you are flying. It is a smooth ride. My ass doesn't hurt when I get out like some more traditional sports cars (I'm nearing 50, my butt likes a cushioned ride now). Tried Mercedes aand BMW too. Honestly, they felt hollow when you stepped on it. I get a more solid, confident acceleration in the Blackwing.

This is German car, so you're being quite dense. In German, Turbo is figuratively used to describe accelerating or working faster. German: Den Turbo einschalten Turbo- (as a prefix): Used to describe something that is fast, powerful, or happens quickly. Turbokapitalismus (turbo-capitalism) Turboabitur (a shortened, faster track to the Abitur, or high school diploma)
View on Reddit #67785659

Much_Box996@reddit

You are being dense as it isn’t used as a prefix and since 1974 it has meant the engine has a turbo. From the porsche website When Porsche revealed the 911 Turbo – its first-ever turbo-charged series production car – at the Paris Motor Show in October 1974, it would have been difficult to have imagined the icon that it would become.
View on Reddit #67789012

AssignmentNo8361@reddit

So you're saying it was used in the name to... Let me check "... to describe something that is fast, powerful, or happens quickly" 🤔
View on Reddit #67790280

Much_Box996@reddit

If you can name one model with the name turbo that doesn’t have a turbo other than electric, you win.
View on Reddit #67795647

AssignmentNo8361@reddit

The base model Porsche 718 Cayman is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. This turbocharged engine produces 300 horsepower and is a defining characteristic of the 718 generation's base model, distinguishing it from the naturally aspirated engines found in previous generation.
View on Reddit #67796822

Much_Box996@reddit

You gave the wrong example. I said a non-electric model that has turbo in the name but the engine doesn’t have a turbo.
View on Reddit #67801233

AssignmentNo8361@reddit

I listed a model that is equipped with a Turbo that doesn't have it in its name. Which asserts that it is not a designation of whether a vehicle has a turbo or not. If you don't understand that, then you simply have issues.
View on Reddit #67809007

Much_Box996@reddit

I asked for one example which you cannot provide. Any sensible person can see turbo in the name meant the engine had a turbo until they made an electric car. Putting a turbo on an engine and not adding turbo to the model name is irrelevant.
View on Reddit #67814295

AssignmentNo8361@reddit

If you're asserting turbo means it has a turbocharger. You must assert the inverse then. According to Porsche.  According to the German language on what turbo means.  According to how they name their cars,.as in not all ICE cars with Turbochargers in them have 'Turbo' in them. According to the fact 'GTS' is a car part. According a 'Turbo S' isn't a car part. Despite all of this, you cannot admit you're wrong. The amount of mental gymnastics you have to go through. I hope you don't believe the earth is flat too. It would literally be impossible to convince you otherwise.

There are definitely better cars out there. But if you had 40k to spend on a used V6 sports sedan, what would you choose?
View on Reddit #67784158

backflip14@reddit

I mean that just comes back to “best for the money”. I was in that exact situation and I chose a stinger because it offered the best performance while still fitting my practicality needs and having a normal cost of ownership. The G70 is the next closest. It’s a step down in practicality and a slight step up in quality. And then after that, you’re looking at Audis and BMWs. I passed on those because of the cost of ownership, but you can get better performance from them.

Is it true this car is not offered with a manual transmission?
View on Reddit #67642929

nvm206@reddit

M340i and m440i never came with a manual transmission. If that’s a requirement I’d get a used 340/440i with a manual and tune it for a lot less the the m lite 340 and 440i. The m lites are just tarted up versions of the basic 340/440. It’s a nice package out the box if you want all the sports packages together with a lot of m’s everywhere and a little more power. But you can get basically the same performance modding a non m-lite. Plus have money leftover to fix the m lite shortcomings like adding proper tuned suspension and LSD which is honestly the most important performance piece and what really separates the m lites from a true m car imo. That and the s code engine.

View on Reddit #67669017

nvm206@reddit

M3 is not a sports car. It is a sports sedan. The m5 is a bigger executive sports sedan. The m2 is a sports coupe. The m4 is a bigger sports coupe. The Z4 and Supra are technically a sports cars in design but drive more like grand tourers, which isn’t surprising considering they’re built on the modular CLAR architecture that all BMW’s are built on now. A cayman, Miata, s2000 or an emira is a sports car designed from the ground up with a purpose built chassis to be a sports car. It just kind of drives me nuts when people call a bmw that’s built on a basic 2, 3, or 4 series commuter car architecture and weighs 1800 kg a sportscar. It’s not. It’s an entirely different class of car and design. If you want a sporty do it all coupe or sedan get a bmw. If you want a sports car get something else.

So I wanted to like it, Lexus dealership brought one to my house to test drive to try and make up for the strange experience I had at their dealership. I wanted to test drive an is500 but not easy to come across. The guy assured me it’s “fast enough” To be fair, I had already test drove some more exciting cars but, it was just disappointing. I was all excited for the v6 I had heard about and it wasn’t even as exciting as the x5 I had. It was cramped and the interior felt super dated, although not necessarily cheap. The tech was from the past decade though. The size is much closer to an s3/rs3, than a 340i, and those are tough for the IS to compare to. Realized that’s why Lexus people always talk about reliability.

Reliability and comfort are the selling points of a Lexus, more than performance. Not many cars can pull off the stately, super smooth driving experience while also being fast as hell. S class and 7/8 BMWs come to mind but not much else.

Audi RS3, BMW M340i, IS500, CT5-V The last of a dying breed, I have a feeling those cars will sell used for MSRP in 10 years or so. On a personal level I'm kind of sad, I'm in my 30s now, doing better financially every year and have been looking to swap my econobox daily driver for a sports sedan in the next year or two, but my options are either being discontinued or priced into the stratosphere.

I have both manual g80 and g87. M2 drives quick a bit smaller (the M3 is a big car and you feel it). If you don’t need the back doors and extra seat get the M2. It’s spacey in the M2 but no 5th seat belt and no back doors. Truck about the same.

I agree with the Elantra N. I researched for almost a year and test drove EVERYTHING around this price point. From Honda csi to the Honda civic r. The wrx, the golf, the corolla gr, and even the brz and gr86. There were things that were better and things that were not so good in each car. At the end of the day the EN checked the most boxes for what I WANTED. It's a fun car in the weekends and a good, comfortable daily. Interior upgrades (like rear heating vents) are cheap and easy for a shade tree mechanic. Octane learning is a pita to figure out but once you figure out what your individual car is looking for repeatability is fairly simple. You can't beat the room and the rear cross brace is removable with a couple bolts if needed. The DCT (from what I've read and heard) is very good and the manual is great. The price point leaves enough for minor performance upgrades like bushings, shifter kit, etc.

How do you define "best"? Off the line acceleration? Probably something like the IONIQ 6 N by Hyundai (although not yet on sale, but something like it) Emotion? For me, that'd probably be an Audi S4 or RS3 Track performance? Without knowing any numbers, I'd go for a BMW M3 Best Value for money? Idk.. Jetta GLI maybe? Are they good value for money? They aren't sold in germany. Practicality? I'd go for a wagon, sedans aren't very practical compared to them.
View on Reddit #67639844

Particular_Quiet_435@reddit

As a daily? Tesla Model 3 Performance. There are others which are more comfortable or faster around a track. But if the metric is all-around best then you can't beat the value proposition of the Model 3. Their tech is unparalleled. Acceleration, safety, efficiency, and convenience are all top-notch. It's more car for the price than competitors can offer

TLX Type S looks so badass, and it’s quick for being a boat. It does everything someone would need from a sedan as well as an Accord, and it’s quick enough for someone who wants to have fun. My Accord hit 120 on the Autobahn comfortably a few times, and the TLX can get there faster and then some.
