If you are heading anywhere in Europe, somewhere like Begen or Tromso in Norway, Oulu in Finland or Akuryri and Reykajvik in Iceland

Reykjavik isn't the best shout. I was there one year in January and there wasn't snow on the ground.

Dunno. Ask in a Scandinavian or alps sub. We don't get any here really. Had Aussies love with me for a bit 20 years ago and it was funny seeing them lose their minds over a tiny bit of snow

We usually do here in the North of Scotland, BUT with climate change it's happening less frequently.

Not sure where you are but the last 5 or so years have seen loads of snow here in Aberdeenshire. Multiple periods of deep long lasting snow every so gle winter - Been out XC skiing loads of days when even the Lecht and Glenshee didn't have enough to open.

Mate even the English lose their minds over a tiny bit of snow.

There's a lot of fresh immigrants from South Asia in my area; when it snowed in 2021 it was amazing - everyone came running out to play in it like they were little kids! It was lovely to see.

I’ve been here over a decade and still get childishly excited whenever it snows enough to settle.

February is most likely in Scotland as the ground is cold enough for it to lie. It is likely to snow a bit in December and January but not necessarily have the city-covered-in-snow look that you are after. If you just really want to see snow, that’s far easier, readily available throughout winter in any of the ski places in Scotland, just check before heading off. There are loads of ski resorts throughout the rest of Europe too, have a Google, then look at the closest towns and see if they are the sort of city you want to see covered in snow.

This year and last year I was in Poland for the winter. Last year I was in my home city outside of Warsaw but this year I was in Warsaw - the news reported that Warsaw had some of the most snowfall, and the snow storms were quite strong there. Very pretty walking through a city like that covered in proper snow.

I’m very much hoping to see Warsaw covered in snow, thinking of going in November but might wait till January

You're better off going in January or February if you want to see snow. When I went last year in mid-January there was LOADS of snowfall, when I went this year in very late February it was snowing a bit but there was a lot settled on the ground from before.

Sheffield gets crazy amounts of snow some years. I remember when i was younger we had this one winter where we got huge icicles on all the windows, it was like being in a tv christmas special. No clue what its like now (climate change and all) but this would've been in 2010/11 so not THAT long ago

You're best chance is Scotland. Not sure anywhere in England can guarantee snow.

as a fellow Aussie, I loved Switzerland. Didn't go in the snow, but I'd recommend trying there.

it was exxy but on par with London, I thought! If you want cheaper, try the Baltics or Eastern Europe?

Why are you asking on here? 5 seconds of googling will successfully answer your question: 1. Tallinn, Estonia 2. Vilnius, Lithuania 3. Erfurt, Germany 4. Helsinki or Rovaniemi, Finland 5. Innsbruck, Austria 6. Chamonix, France

Okay. Innsbruck and Chamonix are both ski resorts in the Alps with loads of outdoor activities. Both cities regularly host the World ski cup competitions in the winter. Chamonix is also the base of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps and Western Europe. Tallinn and Helsinki are both beautiful cities worth visiting and very close to each other (across the Gulf of Finland). If you visit around Christmas, there will be a magical atmosphere. Haven't been to Vilnius and Erfurt.

Ski resort would be a decent bet.  There's webcams all over Europe where you can check the snow already.  Although it's sods law you'll pay to do this and then England will be blanketed with snow as soon as you go.

It's good that you're happy to travel anywhere in Europe. If I was you, I would head to one of the Baltic states. Plenty of decent cities over there and they're made for handling snow. Helsinki springs to mind. Tallinn, or Tartu. Possibly Riga, or even as far south as Poland. Ok, they're not all Baltic states but in that general region. In the UK, snow can look pretty but it rains here more than it would ever snow. So, it probably won't be nice. And a lot of things break down/stop temporarily for the snow. Schools, supermarket deliveries, maybe even JustEat orders. Traffic does, too. Truthfully, I think the UK doesn't do well in cold weather unless you're indoors. If you're indoors, our buildings are usually pretty good at retaining heat.

Poland would be ideal, been to krakow and loved and wanna check out other polish cities

I've never been to Poland. To be honest, Poland and Germany don't appeal to me! Unpopular take, I know. I have been to Prague and liked it there though. But, I went in June one year and it was super hot, probably because it is a landlocked country.

The further north you go are the better the chances for good snow cover, and the best-looking cities are the old ones. I'd say York or Edinburgh

I’m based in Devon and we sometimes get a few inches up around a place called Princetown. That said it’s rarely more than a couple of days a year and hard to predict what and indeed if it will occur. My best bet would be somewhere in Scotland.

Should come visit Canada. Some very beautiful snowy cities in the winter time. Ottawa, Halifax, Quebec City, Banff/Jasper Edmonton, I’d personally stay away from the prairies but that’s only due to the wind.

Your best bet would be Finland/ Sweden/ Norway. I’ve lived in Denmark (small chances) and Finland. You can 💯 get what you’re looking for in Finland, probably from November to April depending on what part of the country

Anywhere in Europe? head to Tromsø (Norway)and get the northern lights as an added bonus.

Not quite a proper city, but Fort William would be my go-to. It's cold, rainy, has a fairly busy high street, and a hill you can drive up with a really good view over the ~~city~~ town.

Due to our temperate maritime climate - big words! - we have lots of weather but tend to avoid the extremes of temperature. Anywhere else in Northern Europe would be better.  Scandinavia is an absolute banker but most northern places have snow on the ground for weeks/months.

Snow is not about "where" so much as "when". There might be some this winter. There might be none for the next five years.

We don't get snow that frequently, it's definitely not a certainty every year but when we do we tend to get shit loads that blankets the entire country
