Can I park cheap in Stansted car park?

Hi. My mum is landing tonight at midnight and I’m picking her up. I want to meet her at the arrivals and walk to the car. She won’t find her way out as she isn’t really accustomed to airports, so I prefer to park somewhere for an hour maybe but I only see that short stay car park is £67 for two hours which is absolutely ridiculous. Is there any way I could park even a bit further for cheaper? I heard mid stay car park is free for an hour but I can’t see anything about it on their website. 15 mins pick up isn’t an option bc my mum isn’t too phone oriented, I’m afraid she won’t be able to get her data to call her and explain where to go (I always get lost there to where the pick up is too). I don’t mind paying but £60+ is mad, would prefer to uber at that point.

"Midstay" is free for an hour then £5 for second hour if you need it. Free shuttle bus to the terminal.

It isn't great for picking someone up: I don't think there's anywhere to sit while you wait, or any shelter, and it's not even that obvious where to wait for your lift. I've picked my brother up from there a few times, but he's a regular traveller and happy to slum it a bit. Doesn't feel a great option for OP's mum given what's been written.

From the airports own website: “You can park for free for up to 1 hour in Stansted Airport's Mid Stay car park for pick-ups or drop-offs. After the first free hour, a charge of £5 applies for the second hour, with higher rates for extended stays. Follow signs for "Free Set Down" within the Mid Stay car park, and then take the complimentary transfer bus to the terminal”

My god it does say that there when I clicked mid stay. Thanks a lot, I was trying to pre book it and it kept giving me those extortionate prices. Sorry for that ^^

I don’t know if they still do, but they used to have free parking in the mid-stay for an hour or two. It’s either a bus or a walk to the arrivals
