Some of the ugliest boats out there

All boats are pretty when you're on them. That said, I used to have a freedom 28. She wasn't exactly pretty herself.

Have you seen the OI Pilot House? It’s my fault for having eyes

A pilot house…on a 33’ deck stepped boat…wild https://preview.redd.it/y80dxd2vgzqf1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5bb10a3583482021595892c622abbb97a3a33274

I guess I don't have an eye for what makes a boat pretty. I like this boat.
View on Reddit #67259637

VerStannen@reddit

I don’t think it looks terribly bad. It has everything that makes a good cruiser, except the actual sailing performance part.

Yes, yes, yes… but that *beam*!

Built for comfort. We had the ketch version. Leeway was insane.

Goes nearly as fast sideways as it does forwards.

Great liveaboards!
View on Reddit #67253260

TheBirdmann@reddit

I visit my liveaboard buddy on his often and it’s really a cozy boat if well maintained, but they’re all aging and many not very gracefully from the ones I’ve seen for sale.

If you could fully restore one with all the modern equipment, new motor, new interior, hard canopy, solar panels, air conditioning, this would be the boat for me.

Spent a week on one of those with the Boy Scouts cruising the northern Florida keys, it was awesome. We caught 30+ fish on it while sailing, anchored in the keys at night. Fell in love with sailing and want to get back one day.

Were you out of Sea Base? I also went there on High Adventure, and I think we were on a Morgan. Unfortunately, we barely had any wind on the whole trip, but it was still a blast. I grew up sailing and miss it now.
View on Reddit #67261010

jackdog20@reddit

Yes Sea Base, coral reef sailing adventure, we had 2 Morgans with our group and it was a blast. I could see myself buying one someday, cruising the Caribbean for a few months.

Never seen one that didn't have bad chainplates. I'm in the process of making chainplates for a 415 ketch right now.

my family had this boat when i was growing up, ugly as hell but great memories on it on the great lakes. i think they sold it for like $20k in 1997 when they finally got rid of it due to divorce. IIRC the deck had a balsa core and it needed to be redone which affected the price, i think it had water intrusion and was mush.

The position of the rubrail, portlights, and toerail are a little odd, but I always loved that low and heavy shape, especially on the transom.

I was so in love with this boat as a kid or maybe it was the 51' - was that the one with the center cockpit? Total fantasy boat!
