I wonder why they haven't gone to a new 737 variant. Is it because this 727-200 has low cycles?

It’s a bit weird. There isn’t anything in particular about the -200’s design that helps it do this role, and there are so many cheap -300/-400/-700/-800s on the market that can do the same thing for way cheaper.
